    I’m from the Netherlands.
Star Wars was the first movie I saw in the theaters.
    It changed my life.
    I’m 52 and still a kid.

As a 52 year old fan who’s been there since 1977, the way Star Wars captured the “lived in” look was what made it so special and unique for a Sci Fi film. I prefer the practical effects of the geniuses of ILM and how their vision of this gritty and real world environment felt. Seeing how weathered the ships and equipment were made is what set it apart from any other films in that genre. Your incredible collection is astonishing. Thank you for sharing this with us

Great video on an envious collection. Btw, an unknown hero of Star Wars lore is Collin Cantwell, who with McQuarrie, helped create some of these iconic designs before ILM was even formed.

I build 1/32 airplane kits from Tamiya, Hasegawa & others. Man, I wish some model company would do injected plastic models of the Star Wars ships. A 1/32 TIE fighter is out (just got it), but the rest are in odd scales. Need new tooled X & Y wings and Vader’s TIE all in 1/32. Bandai makes them in 1/72, but 1/32 is my favorite. An X-wing next to a P-51D would look awesome next to each other in 1/32.
    Awesome collection!

    Thanks for the video
The idea for the Tie Bomber came from a hot dog stand that ILM bought lunch from, and they had a hot dog that had 2 chili sausages in it and it was called double chili hot dog, and according to Lorne Petersen it seems to be a fun design.
Funny-I saw your video where you tried to visit ilm, and you told about all the letters you had written to Lucasfilm when you were younger, - I did the same, have quite a few letters from lucasfilm,

Awesome collection of models! My sister gave me a model of The Millenium Falcon from Toys R 'Us back in the early 80s after TESB had come out. I was about 12 or 13 then and did a pretty good job putting that monster together. I had it for quite a while after that but not sure whatever happened to it. Looking forward to seeing more video pf your collection. BTW, that book on vehicles looks AMAZING!!

@5:00 The four aft engines and exhausts of the X-wings are actually a GE J79 jet Engine from Revell's 1/32 F-4 Phantom. In the Early 1970s Revell Produced 1/32 scale F-4 Pahtoms (with very poor detail and fit) that had a removeable J79 jet engine. Star Wars modelers took that engine and cut it in half and used the aft end of it including the Afterburner turkey feathers. If you match up those engines with the aft engine of Xwing you will see its a perfect match. When I was kid in 1981 when I belonged to the official Star Wars fan club there was an artical describing this in a monthy news letter. I had built those 1/32 F-4 kits and knew exactly what they were talking about.

I don't know why it took so long for this video to show up in my feed but it has and I'm a new subscriber, I love what you've done.
I remember watching the Making of The Return of the Jedi or maybe it was when I was at the Marin County Fair in 1988 or 1989, George Lucas had a lot of props on display there including the actual models, costumes, and droids. I remember the TIE-Fighter that looks similar to Vader's, the TIE-Bomber was called the twin chili pepper fighter/bomber model because it looked like it was made with two stuffed chili peppers.
A couple months ago I was at a channel that showed how to clean your Kenner X-Wing toy and he mentioned the wing markings as numbers, plus the Luke X-Wing action figure is actually Biggs (Red 3) because Lucasfilm gave Kenner a random photo of an X-Wing with pilot and the X-Wing was Biggs' because it had three tick marks instead of five and the action figure had dark hair instead of blonde like Luke. I always thought the three tick marks on the Kenner X-Wing toy was because the toy wasn't proportional to scale and they didn't have enough room on the sticker for five tick marks and just settled on three and I never could figure out the brunette Luke until a couple months ago when that mystery was finally solved.

After Lucas got McQuarrie to do some designs, he took them to a British modeller called Colin Cantwell, who built prototypes of the X-Wings, TIE Fighters, and the Star Destroyer. But these early models looked too clean and sleek to Lucas, so later when he was back in the US he asked Joe Johnston to re design them. Then when ILM was up and running and modellers like Lorne Peterson were involved they began kit-bashing to detail the Falcon and other miniatures. Incidentally, that technique was pioneered on 2001 a Space Odyssey for the Discovery and Aries miniatures. I don't think you made it clear that, Studio Scale means the size of the miniatures used in a movie, which is often much larger than shop-bought model kits.

One thing about the Studio Scale B-Wing is the unit crest on it (Not the orange meatball). The unit crest on it is from the 1st Tactical Fighter Wing (Which was a real USAF Unit till 1991) I should know because my dad was with that unit from 1982 to 1991 then it was renamed 1st Fighter Wing in 1991 and my dad was with them till his retirement in 93. The crest remained the same after the name change.
