This Is my 1997 Honda Shadow VLX
Today I take it on the highway to show the VLX 600 can go on highway and do highway speeds. Plus a quick little stop by a buddy then back onto my ride
I have owned this exact bike since new. Lots of highway time actually. Most of the miles are highway. Changed the rear sprocket to 38 tooth I believe. You can rev them pretty hard. I think mine tops out about 155 km so just shy of 96. I often drop a gear even at 60 to pass. I have a spitfire windshield and I weigh about a buck 80
I have a 41 on mine but I e been considering dropping to a 38 also. Would you recommend it?
@@afinacionymovimiento I changed my right away as I knew I would be travelling on the highway at a cruising speed of around 70 to 75 mph for 250 to 300 miles quite allot. I am not saying this is the best bike for this, but I did it allot and I still have the same bike. I found it had plenty of jam in first gear and still does, what I thought it lacked was top end. If you don't mind it bogging a bit in first then I would go smaller still
Thank you for featuring a older, dual-carb VT600! TH-cam is full with the later, single-carb version!
Is that stock exhaust with baffles sawed out or aftermarket exhaust?
No this bike has cobra pipes on there! but yes glad you agree!
I ride mine on the highway almost exclusively. It’s most comfortable at 60mph.
Very cool bike. Enjoy!
Honda should of made a 6 speed in THIS. My first bike was a 1982 Suzuki gs 450l and it came with a 6 speed
I drove one same color same year to Miami from Maine 3 yrs ago
How fast can it go? How was the ride? I live in Miami and want to ride to NC this summer with a Honda Shadow vlx 600. Will it be enough being a 600cc bike?
@@russiantroubleyakutsk1612I haven’t done that specific ride but I rode my 600 through the American southwest. I did 1400+ miles in 5 days (I would have gone farther but the bike got stolen and that delayed me a bit, I did get it back the following day). I rode am average of 75 to 80 miles per hour and in about a month or so I want to ride it from California to Texas. The bike will totally do it if you maintain it well. I should mention I have a 41 rear tooth sprocket so it makes the highway a bit easier. Good luck on your trip.
Nice bike!
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Honda doesn't make rectifier and stator no more for those models.. been having problems to find it . I bought 2 stator aftermarket and they were crap
What app are you using for the RPM on your phone?
I thought my paint was unique, I thought wrong!
I had a shadow 600. Got bananas gas mileage.
Is bananas good or bad?
Sounds like the clutch is slipping, when you were on the highway and accelerated at one point.
