D12-0 are typically used as booster motors. That's why you still get some flame action at the end. It's trying to light the next stage. Years ago there were the "plugged" motors which would work perfect for side boosters. Greetings from the Spaceport America Cup team!

Right we experienced that during the ground test, didn’t think they would be that violent though. Don’t think Estes sells any of those -p motors though. Thanks for the advice!

D12-0 means they have no delay. All Estes rocket motors have an ejection charge unless you remove then manually.

Kudos
