      VIT K2 (MK-7) is IMHO a "placedo" deceptively labeled as VIT K2.

    It is crucial to take Vitamin K2 together with Vitamin D3, and ideally also with Magnesium, since the absorption of all three depend on each other.

    I watched quite a few videos over the past four years about vitamin D3 and K2. This is the first time that the narrator has given the amount of K2 to take each day. 120 mcg. No one else would give an amount. And this narrator did it right at the beginning of the video. Thank you!

      I use 200 mcg capsules. When ai increased dosage to 400 mcg per day, I noticed my blood pressure lowered.

    I started taking a regime of K2, D3, and magnesium three days ago and have already seen a significant improvement in my blood pressure readings! Today I was down to 114/70 compared to 143/84 just five days ago.

      @@user-pt4mu8rk1i Quite a bit, including skipping the past 3 days to see if the effects continue (and because I was fasting). I was getting readings in the 120’s during my fast, but today was 106/66 once I’d broken my fast, but still without taking the supplements. So it seems that the effect continues, as though the body stores the nutrients?
      BTW my magnesium on my last blood tests was at the very bottom of the normal range, so how much of the improvement was from the K2/D3 and how much from getting my magnesium stores up I’ll never know.

    Totally agree with this guy. Have been taking vit D3, MK7 , K2 and magnesium for a few years now and certainly do not seem to have any problems that friends of same age (65+) are experiencing

      As a ret.chemist, I've been on this therapy taking 180-360mcg/day just like japs do at breakfast. You cant OD on it, because it's all foodstuff called Natto (fermented soy). LOOK IT UP.

    It seems quite confusing to use the term: "improved arterial stiffness".... after all, stiffness isn't something we want to improve is it? Wouldn't a better phrase be: "decreased arterial stiffness" ? ! 😵‍💫😵‍💫

    I think you should personally revisit Quercetin. In my family we tried various supplements and many had absolutely no effect so we are not likely to fall prey to the placebo effect with something that does work. I am a nurse and my mother is 70 years old with various problems in her joints. I found that Quercetin works as an anti-allergy medicin (though effective only for 3-5h) and over 6+ months of taking it for both me and my mother lost all (and i mean ALL) our joint pains. Now I have been taking it over a year and my lifelong allergies have all faded to absolute zero. I was taking VitD3+K2 for over a year before and same for my mother so this connection could be related but the rapid improvements did not happen until also taking Quercetin. It makes me feel 20 years younger at only 600mg/day.

      Quercetin, Chondroitin Sulfate & Turmeric with black pepper will certainly relieve and/or eliminate joint pain. Also, Boron is effective at eliminating Arthritis/Joint pain if taken consistently. The time will vary with each person according to diet, exercise & sleep. Vitamin K2 is crucial also to maintain bone density, joint health & keep calcium out of soft tissue and put it where it belongs, in the bones & teeth. Quercetin & Turmeric are also highly effective against Viruses including, the latest Virus without the serious side affects. Things in nature are relatively inexpensive & highly effective and, non patentable therefore, natural remedies that really work are not advertised for all to see.

      @streamdungeon Are you aware that quercetin is a potent Mast Cell Stabilizer? MCs are immune cells that are central to allergies. MCs are akin to being master cells that orchestrate inflammation, as they have over 100 receptors and secrete over 200 biochemicals. If you've had other symptoms, MCs are likely involved.
      MCs can be involved in joint inflammation/pain by secreting the inflammatory biochemical called Leukotriene B4. You can oppose LTB4 with OTC frankincense (Boswellia Serrata). The powder, not the oil. Frankincense interferes with 5-LOX.
      Some other MC stabilizers are fisetin (strawberries) and luteolin (olives). A pioneer researcher on MCs was Dr. Theo Theoharides.

    I take 100mcg K2 as MK7. I also take 5000iu vitamin D. My blood levels of vitamin D remain at high normal. My doctor is surprised and at first was convinced I was taking a toxic level but he now realises that we don't all absorb it completely. 1000 iu may be ok for some, but many will not reach optimum levels and need much higher amounts. The older we get the harder it is to absorb vitamin d supplements.

      I take 2400mcg of K2-MK7 and 5000i.u of D3. For the last 2yrs./day.

      @@kevinfinch126 I'm on magnesium bicarbonate I make my on carbonated water using a "Soda Streamer" and the add a teaspoon of magnesium oxide per liter of carbonated water. This makes about 40-45mg per oz. Of magnesium carbonate. A 200lb man can use 800mg/ day. So I usually get about 20 oz. /day. Before this I was low on vitamin D3 as I worked nights and slept days. I worked my D3 blood level up to 60ng.
      And since being on Dr. Linus Paulings Heart Protocol I have been able to reverse my CAC Score from 660 to 458. The thing about magnesium is, when the levels are up Calcium is down!

    Thanks for the continued reporting on these studies. As of today my body seems to prefer 100mcg of MK7 every other day after breakfast, sticking with that for now. I kind of feel like the fat soluble supplements don't necessarily need to be a daily thing.

    You put natto in the same pot with spinach and kale as a vitamin K2 source. That is wrong as I understand it. Kale and spinach contain Vitamin K1, but Natto is the richest natural source of K2 in the mk-7 form.

    There are no known serious side effects from taking too much vitamin K2. So unless you are on blood thinners .. feel free to take more. If you bleeding or bruising too easily from taking antioxidants daily, you can take more K2. I have taken well over 500 mg daily for 15 years.

      if it was this guy? then that's just his opinion, the is no definitive evidence in the literature that nmn is not having a benefit, its proven to raise intracellular nad levels. I watched one of this guy's clips where he dismisses ca akg out of hand due to one study that says it has a 15min half-life... this is while we have a very limited understanding of the compounds activity and limited literature, you cannot dismiss such things and instead should state that the literature is inconclusive which it is, there needs to be more information before a real informed opinion can be made. He failed in this in his assessment of that supplement.

      @@harmankardon478 yes the information came from Brad. Since then I recall Brad saying that MNM might be having an effect but only because it is broken down into B3 within the stomach. Lustgarden seemed to do as well with a straight B3 suppliment. But of course that is just n = 1 research. Do you have any thoughts on that?

    In my study of N-1 (on myself), my dental cleanings are much better having taken MK7 for years. There is considerably less plaque build up.

      I found the same to be true! Always lots of build up inside lower front teath. Becasue if extenuating circumstances I had not seen dentust in 5yrs. But had started k2 for last 3..dr said i had not more plack than 6 mos check up.

    The best magnesium is ionized, so dissolve Epsom salt in water, I do with l-ascorbic acid, potassium citrate, acerola cherry powder, and Propel powder.

    The question is why calcium is in the artery in the first place. You shouldn't have plaque in the first place for calcium to latch on. Removing calcium from plaque might be worse than not in some cases. I would argue that removing plaque is more important than removing calcium with K2 considering that plaque turns into blood cloths anyway and that most heart attacks are a result of that happening. Vitamins and minerals aren't miracle cures if you don't have a healthy diet in the first place.

    I take 100mg of K2 MK7. But when it comes to vit D I take 5000IU (5 days a week while in the office - weekends I spend outside where possible). I have annual blood tests to monitor and my vit D levels have always been within the normal range. The only benefit I have noticed is I never get sick. Whereas prior to taking Vit D + K2, I was catching colds a lot.

    I noticed that in the first studies you mentioned that was with the MK4 version of K2 and not MK7. MK4 is vegetable derived and has a short half life compared to MK7.
    Dr. Agatston (the Dr. who invented the calcium scoring index with his name) says it is impossible to remove calcium from the arteries once there. But there are others who say they personally have decreased their calcium scores by certain interventional drugs, including statins, niacin, and CoQ10. But Dr. Agatston says it isn't JUST the calcium score, it has to do with it's density, the number of plaques, and it's distribution within the arteries that is significant.

      Vitamin k1 is derived from plants, MK4 is derived from animal products like milk and cheese, MK7 is derived from bacterial fermentation.

    It's not true to group natto with vitamin K1 foods; it is 90% K2 MK7. I'm just trying to figure out why you said this and it makes me wonder what else is not true.

    300 ug/day MK-7 here (but I'm old). I've read that the highest concentration of MK-7 is in the saliva, which makes a lot of sense, as it could potentially help slow or prevent dental caries by remineralization. Given the connection between dental caries and heart disease, this seems like a useful path for cardiovascular health as well. My vitamin D tablets are chewable and have xylitol in them (xylitol is good for proper mouth floura, which also slows or prevents dental caries), so I just let them dissolve slowly in my mouth.

    I've started eating natto months ago every day one spoon. Supposedly it contains K2 (it was shown in the video). Heat beans till 100 degrees celsius (two large soup bowls) mix in the natto kin let it ferment in a yogurt fermenter at 42 celsius for 24 to 96 hours stir every six hours with a fork (decontaminated in a flame) and add bit of cooked water (while it is still cooking) if too dry (taste best after 24 but a lot more potent after 96 hours). Should have a slightly sweet taste and it might even taste a bit salty, structure is silk like. Eat one spoon every day. Works miracles for your blood flow and therefore for your skin. Not sure about any other effects but it is very noticable. If you overdo it you might start to bruce easily in which case take a little less. Do not use if you take other stuff that thins your blood.

    I would be curious about your thoughts regarding those of us taking statins and the role vitamin k2 plays in preventing the excess calcium that forms in statin-taking patients. I understand the risks are overall lower and the calcification may in fact stabilize the progression of plaque, but perhaps it wouldn't be necessary or could be even better if k2 was present *with* statins?

      The calcium is there to lock down the soft plaque. You don't want to reduce that. The key is to reduce the plaque formation through a low carb, high fat diet to reduce inflammation.

      @@DK-pr9ny lowering ApoB will also reduce soft plaque formation, and is actually *the* causal step in the process. I'm not arguing that inflammation can damage the endothelium, but without ApoB getting in there, there is no plaque. What I'm essentially wondering is: if statins alter calcium shuttling, would there perhaps be a higher requirement for vitamin K2 in statin users. Calcium incorporation is a relatively late stage atherosclerotic process, so maybe there's no worries because catching it early wouldn't have this increased arterial calcium when taking the statin.

      @@JohnSlack89 I’m not sold that satins do anything as I was on Simvastatin for the past 15 years and just had my first CAC, and I was shocked with a 500 score at only age 55. I’ve since gone Keto and my blood work numbers are the best they’ve ever been.

    During the winter in UK with little or no sunshine I take 12,000 to 16,000 IU's as recommended by a UK Doctor. During the Spring, summer, sunshine days the body absorbs around 20,000 IU's

    Information from other studies seem to suggest that if K1 levels are higher than K2 then calcification is worse. Higher K2 and this reverses which seems to be the observation. Also since almost noone in the Western world eats enough foods with high K2 we are almost all deficient and have higher K1 levels leading us all to problems with calcification and the issues that ensues. I am taking 400ug of K2 and 8000IU D3. As a study of 1 I am much healthier than before. The D3 seems to have eradicated Hay feaver and I get almost 0 colds. Plus no more white spots on my finger nails. Its very important to have higher levels of K2 when taking D3 suppliments as D3 increases calcium uptake as well as supporting the immune system. This is the best advice I have been given in my lifetime.

    That's discouraging news! I've been taking K2 and eating natto for over a decade. My bones, as determined by a Dexa exam, are those of a woman in her late twenties. Peak bone mass. I'm in my late sixties... also have a zero calcium cardiac score.
    So now I'm wondering if it wasn't the K2, what was it? Or maybe K2 is just one piece of a large puzzle of factors, that contributes to bone health. Maybe it has to be taken while relatively young over decades to make a difference?
    Looking forward to that latest K2 study's results. Dr Brad, if you see this comment, do you have a link to an article debunking the Japanese k2 protocol for osteoporosis? A quick search online did not yield any results. Thx for the video and your help! 🌱

      no, that is in line with the study he mentioned. It is good for preventing bone decalcification.

    This is all true for mk-7 but mk-4 is able to cross the blood/brain barrier and is then used by the brain. This is a point that should not be overlooked.

      i use a formulation that has both types for the hope that as we find out more that i will have both bases covered in case one has more of the effect im looking for than others. Mainly i'm looking to keep calcium out of non-bone tissues.

      My husband takes statin and aspirin. Do K2 will have any interaction. I heard vitamin k2 can thicken the blood, while aspirin is meant to thin the blood. Please advise. Thank you so much for your time

    Just saw this as the topic interested me and with MS take 5000 D3 and just bought supplements that include 120 mcg of K2MK7 in each 1,000. Yikes will stop tomorrow and use 1 and then regular D3 for the remainder 4000! Super helpful info. Fun too to see you are in NZ. Lived in Tauranga mid 70's. :)

      yeah taking too much vit k could cause a blood clot if youre at risk for one. i reccomend mk4 instead of mk7 if you want to absorb fast and avoid the blood thickening effect mk7 has because its stays in your blood longer. take a probiotic and get your mk7 that way. baccteeria produces it in small ammounts throughout the whole day.

    I had bone density loss because of undiagnosed parathyroidism which was leaching calcium was leaching from my bones. After 3 years (I take 45,000 mcg MK7, 4700 IU's of D3, 1500 mg of citrate calcium and 100 mg of Magnesium Glycate. Just got my dexascan results after 3 years ago. Bone mineral density increased anywhere from 3.7% to 7.4% in lumbar spine, hip and left femoral necK! Amazing!! 2 areas went from osteopenia to normal!!

    K2 D3 coq10 magnesium glycinate i took those when doctors PPI and all other drugs don't even work with gerd and inflamed abdomen i've gotten a lot better and even the palpitations that i always had, only happens rarely now.

    Mk7 is a little too strong; I get hemerroids every time I take it. By contrast, I feel much better the next day every time I take Mk4. It turns out that Gouda cheese is a pretty good source of the stuff, but sadly all cheeses are super expensive now since the pandemic.

      That's interesting. I wonder what about the K2 could be causing this reaction, since K2 is supposed to be beneficial for the vascular system? Have you tried a variety of brands, perhaps it's something in the inactive carrier of your supplement you're reacting to?

      Gouda is a good source as long as its from grass-finished cows, which makes it even more expensive unfortunately. Duck fat has even more K2 and is much cheaper. Use it with pasture-raised eggs and steak, etc...

    I understand that k2 is a blood coagulant and is not recommended if taking blood thinner medication e.g warfarin, however what if I'm taking low dose aspirin. Should the K2 be taken at a different time of the day as to low dose aspirin or alternate the aspirin and K2 to every other day or not at all? ( I've Googled various iterations to find out this info but no real results to answer my query)

    It's been my understanding that MK-4 doesn't hang around long like MK-7 because MK-4 is rapidly absorbed and utilized by the tissues. MK-7 hangs around longer and it seems best suited for bone health. MK-4 in theory should be better at protecting the tissues from calcium deposits while also supporting sex hormone production.

      @@cynthiahansen2341mk-4 is found everywhere, in brain, liver, eggs, fish eggs, bone marrow, dairy, in babies mk-4 can go through the placenta while other forms cannot. That means mk-4 is crucial for any life while mk7 is not.

    Researchers are stubbornly refusing to try K2/MK4 against K2/MK7, which is pushed by the supplement companies.
    My view of this is that a mixtrure of K1, MK4, and MK7 is probably the best, until the researcher get their ass of the bench and really figure this out.
    Optimal might be 2 mg of them totally. They aren't independent!
    The body slowly converts some K1 and some K2/MK7 into K2/MK4. Obviously, the body likes MK4. But I doubt it converts enough into it to be optimal.
    Therefore, a mixture of them all.
    But we get K1 from green vegetables, and MK7 does give us some MK4. So just MK7 might be a minimal solution, if that's what you want.
    But as we know 380 ug of MK7 isn't enough to more than slow down calcification of the arteries, although it does something.
    Why not try my approach?
    By the way. Researchers have shown that 1.5 mg of MK4 has effect. The megadoses of 45 mg 3 times daily is something lazy researchers use when they doesn't bother finding out the effective dose. They just want a sure results, so they can publish their paper. Not giving useable guidelines.

    Can you explain K1 to K2 conversion? If you eat a lot of fiber rich whole foods, does your body convert enough K1 into K2, to not need a supplement? And how can you know? Thanks so much for explaining! Btw, I don't eat food with K2 in it, only K1.

      Pharmacist and vegan here. Even though k1 in high quantities is also very important on its own, is not well known if it's convertion through bacteria is enough to get this benefits that are being talked.
      Considering the studies with populations that consume high doses of the only foods that have k2, like old japanese folks, I would conclude that is better to suplement k2 even for those eating copious amounts of k1.

      No. Cows eating tons of grass high in k1, their gut dozens times more size than humans are they also generally have healthier microbiom just because you barely see any human today who have enough microbe diversity and health, their gut converts k1 to k2. Out of all the animals beef and dairy containts the most mk-2 (chickens have higher simply because they supplement their feed with synthethic k4 or whatever its called). And yet healthy human with diet based on diary still be deficient in k2 its not enough and even if you have healthy gut the amount you synthesize k2 is very negligible and to have these healthy gut you need to eat fermented foods like raw milk kefir, sour milk, sour cream, tvorog, cheese, sauerkraut, kvass, nato, dried meats, etc there is many of them there is have been many fermented fish or seafood dishes for example, or something like bone marrow in random bones in the desert that have been fermented under sun for year, that would be very high in k2 and good bacteria

    Those reported side effects of heart palpitations scare me. I can’t recommend these to my parents for the same reason. My question is that can we get enough from egg yolk(MK4) and Cheese(MK7) to make any difference?

    I took 180mcg MK7 with 1000iu D3 for a month and I couldn't tolerate it. My heart rate went to 95 and wouldn't come down. It returned to normal when I stopped the supplement. I now take the same dose in MK4 form and have no problems.

    I suggest you study more in depth the quantity of vitamin D3 you are taking and recommanding. It is far to low to maintain the blood levels that have been shown to protect against a multitude of cancers…and complications of viral infections… 1000units is really outdated

    My medical Dr told me not to take anything with VitaK due to the fact that I have had blood clots a few different times. I'm getting confused because it has great benefits, but helps clotting, and I certainly don't need any help with that. In fact, I need help NOT clotting. What do you think?

    Slightly confusing. I would take most nutrients through Food. However, I do take a vitamin D supplement with Vit K but I still think nutrients in Food is more or equally important.

      TheDr believes in getting stuff in pills rather than nutritious foods and if you get fat on the other foods then he believes in taking drugs to lose weight.
      Personally I have cheese for plenty of K2.

      Yes it is by bacteria in your gut. And there's quite some K2 in cheese. Idk about you but I tend to eat quite a bit of cheese.

    I am on warfarin (Coumadin). I test my INR, clotting time at home. I read a comment somewhere on you tube by a person on Warfarin who had also been taking K2 for a year.
    So i started a very low dose 50 mg of k2. Checking my INR daily. I have been taking 100mg for 4 months, and am back to testing my INR every 1-2 weeks . I have not seen an increase in my INR.
    . K1 converts to k2. k2 does not convert to k1.
    I have not heard anyone clearly explain how k2 is involved in clotting. My experience so far doesn't show that. Not suggesting anyone do as I have

    Interesting that Natto is referenced as a good source of vitamin K2 (MK7), being that some people use Natto because it reduces clotting, however K2, which is in Natto (except for proprietary blend which is K free), increases clotting

    Why would you supplement Vit D instead of using the sun? Seems to be a few reasons that this is the preferable way to do it, of course in winter it is not so practical, or you take a winter holiday to the other side of the equator.

    Apart from calcium, does Vit K2 affect any other mineral levels such as potassium & magnesium ?

    In the old days, we used to know the wrong info about the vitamin K😊
