    Awesome thanks. For the first 6 minutes of the video I thought you were going to do the whole job without power tools! Great accuracy with the hand tools, I think my cutting would be veering left and right 😅

    Good work mate, this will save me a fortune as I become a backyard gutter plumber graduating from TH-cam 👍🏻

    Its a nice well thought out solution, but how long before the horizontal downspout clogs with debris? Perhaps consider a shorter section of about 12" (??-mm) of downspout material joined to a length of open top gutter to extend down the roof to carry away the water would be easier to maintain and prevent clogging. Just a thought. Thumbs up to you for the overall concept.

    Bloody genius! So clean for the install and so practical. I love your common sense approach to these challenges. And what silicone is best for which application?

      Use a roof plumbing silicone. It will be on the tube.

    G'Day Dennis, I love this video and I have the exact same problem. I hadn't even thought of such a super, simple solution.
    Questions please.
    1) Aluminium or Stainless Steel Rivets?
    2) Cut off discs 1mm on a 4" grinder... Do they cook the Colourbond edge or are they safe to use?
    3) If Colourbond gutters are old and rusty but can't be replaced right now, What is best to buy time?
    Passivation with Phosphate, Cold Gal, Dulux Primer for gal, straight Epoxy Spray paint or Crommelin Exterior Grade Waterproofing? I will need to replace all my gutters but at $5K-7K AUD, I just can't afford it for a year or 2 ...

    that apron or flashing, where you have cut a hole for the gutter , that apron shouldn't it be scribed and then sealed? mine is like that , withour the cuts and the sillicone, but i have seen a video , where they cut it and put silicone all around the cuts, that now sit on the tin roof. which one is correct?

    • @dennisperrie
      @dennisperrie  ปีที่แล้ว

      doesn't have to be scribed the sheets just need to be bent up.

    what are the flashings called, and where can one get them from? the flashings, attaching to the top of the gutter, and going to the top of the pagola,... i have got some, that have an L shape and at the top of the L, there is a clip that goes to the top of the gutter, and at the bottom of the L, there is onother slope , going down... maybe 5 or so centimetres wide.....

    • @dennisperrie
      @dennisperrie  ปีที่แล้ว

      I get them custom made from my supplier so they can come in many different forms

    • @uknow8561
      @uknow8561 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dennisperrie are they called aprons? and what supplier to you use to get them made? about that specific L shapped flashing, that hangs on top of the gutter, and at the bottom of the L there is a slope, ... is this available anywhere , as standard, or one needs to get them custom made?

    • @dennisperrie

      @uknow sounds like aprons. In W.A. I use Combined Metal Industries, or Fielder, or Metroll, or Revolution roofing, and then there is stratco, stramit and probably a couple more

      @@dennisperrie combined metal industries can do it.

    That flashing should go up behind the guttering. Hard against the fascia, the gutter should then go on top.
    Any water overflowing from the gutter should fall onto the flashing and be able to run out onto the roof.
    That’s the correct way to do it, however this is a nice more cost effective approach 👍
