I love how the memory was limited back then to the point where every song sounds like a bootleg.
I grew up with an N64 and when I heard the full version of Police Truck I about had a heart attack.
@@username19237 I grew up on PC games but I can still relate since almost every song in a Tony Hawk game was censored and hearing them uncensored felt bizarre to me when I was younger.
@@username19237 exactly. I had it on N64 first then PS1 shortly after. I had no idea they were meant to be full songs but N64 couldn't handle it lol.

@@nicholasschreiner4771 I believe that is because they're playing the N64 version which, if I remember correctly, was ported by a different studio, and thus, might have slight tweaks to the mechanics and physics.

it's funny how a game that only took me around 3 and a half hours to get through 100% (on my first playthrough) is the game I've played the most this year. I've done the solo tours for almost all of the skaters, unlocked the secret characters, attempted some of the challenges, and I'm still not bored lol.
Imagine going back in time and doing this in front of people the day it came out. 🤣

Well first they made THPS1 and THPS2, then they made THPS2X for the OG Xbox, which is basically THPS1+2 that you can buy for OG Xbox, then they made THPS HD, which is basically THPS1+2 for 2012 systems, now they are making THPS1+2 remastered, which is basically THPS1+2 for 2020.
A few years from now, we might get to enjoy purchasing THPS1+2 again :-)

I played this when I was a small child, maybe 5 or 6 and thought it was the coolest fuciin thing when my older brother got to the school level. but then I see this and.... damn

@DaRobsterr fakie is the stance, ollie is the trick. You can't switch stance nollie, because nolle is the stance. so it should be nollie ollie, like nollie kickflip. But people simply take the shortcut
@DaRobsterr yeah, cutting to the chase, there's no such thing as switch nollie.... the trick is a fakie ollie..... you can TECHNICALLY say "switch nollie" but anyone who says that would be looked at as just as strange as the people who push mongo. "Switch nollie" is essentially redundant.
Why am I qualified to answer? Skating used to be my life. And I skated with a group of friends who were big on fakie 180s off docks and nollie flatground tricks. And we even discussed this exact thing in the game, because we noticed it too.
That's the genuine thing about this game. Real, actual skaters LOVED it. Which means we also spot those little mistakes. It's fun AND funny to do so.
BTW. Regular and Goofy, are the TWO stances. Nollie isn't a stance, it is popping the deck with the back foot, which is why any flip trick that's nollie is called "nollie inward heel" or etc..... If someone is riding fakie, and they pop with the back foot, it's a "fakie ollie" or "fakie inward heel"..... it's not so common, but those tricks are really cool when someone does it well. And, riding fakie is great practice for crusing or landing gaps/stairs in your switch stance. Manualing fakie is great practice for learning to manual in your switch stance too, naturally.
Oh. And to finish the topic from earlier..... pushing mongo, is pushing with ones' FRONT foot. Which looks tacky, and isn't sensible, because you always want to maintain as MUCH control over the board as possible..... There are only VERY FEW, VERY RARE circumstances where it's considered acceptable. And even still, that's debatable. That's why pros and dedicated folks just put in the work to learn to push in their switch stance as well as regular.
Because skating, is ALL ABOUT STYLE.
I will never forget playing this game growing up. Everything about it is absolutely nostalgic. Thank you Tony Hawk, all of the developers, editors, musicians, staff, and anyone who had an influence over this games creation. All time legendary status

I had this for n64 and I always hated that the sound track was just like 30 second loops and not the actual songs. Solid game tho.
You don't have to listen to the whole song when you play the full game in 6 minutes.
...not to mention all the sound effects were different from the PSX original.

ElfHostage it’s a skater thing. Lol. When you Ollie off the nose in switch stance, it’s called a Nollie, but when you Ollie off the nose in your stance you skate, it’s called a fakie.
@@youtuber58643 other way around. When you pop off the nose in regular stance, that's a nollie. Pop off the nose in switch stance, that's a fakie Ollie. There's basically 4 stances/ways to pop the board, Ollie, nollie, switch, and fakie.

There is a 1.0 and 1.1 version of this game--1.1 is called Tony Hawk's Skateboarding because culturally some countries think of "skating" as figure skating/ice skating

Thanks! 'End Run' ends up being quite a bit slower than retrying because it goes through a sequence showing you what tapes you just got.

I'm sure if the PS1 had used cartridges instead of CD's, like how the N64 did, it could have loaded that fast. There wouldn't of been the FMV's to unlock, the songs would be cut, and a lot of other content would be missing, but yeah.

Wallrides act the same across all versions. It's just a trick to do wallies in a certain way that get a lot of height. You're right that load times are the reason for N64.
