If Xiah had used the japanese version he would have won
As you can see, he was using the english version, which is slower at the start. however in this category, english is not really much slower at all, because bowser textboxes are larger and contain more text per textbox and can thus be skipped faster. There was a comparison made with TAS, which actually measured the english version to be faster slightly. This was using TAS strats, so which version is faster for RTA is not provably clear yet.

Marko Hofmann He missed it by .47 seconds What’s even worse is he missed WR in 1 star by 100ms. That’s .1 seconds
3 misconceptions that I want to clear up...
1. "If Xiah used the Japanese version, he would've won!" Although the first cutscene (Princess Peach's letter) is slower on the English version (due to Princess Peach reading her letter), the English version is slightly faster due to the fact that large Bowser textboxes can be skipped faster in the American version.
2. "Xiah had a bad loading screen at 3:10!" This video was edited so that all speedrunners start every section in sync.
3. "Xiah was 0.06 seconds away from WR!" As I already said, the video was edited. 0.06 seconds was only the loss of that section. Altogether, Xiah was behind by 0.47 (or about 0.5) seconds behind Akira.
I want to make sure that nobody puts any of the quotes into their comments without understanding the truth.

I never beat this game. Not even with the wii or pc and roms. I wanted to play every level and EXPERIENCE the game completely.

Thank you for syncing at the beginning of each section. It's really helpful. It also prevents losing the sync early and never recovering it, especially with Xiah playing the non-Japanese version, he would have been out of sync the whole time.

- This is edited to sync each section
- Those aren’t super long loading screens, it just means that person finished the section and the editor lets the others finish the sections before continuing on to play the next section synced again.
- Xiah lost by a little more than .06 seconds. Can you people not read? It literally says SECTION TIME LOST. The .06 seconds is the time he lost compared to Akira in ONLY the last section. You have to account for all the other sections to get his total time lost compared to Akira.
- He did not lose because he was using the English version. The English version is faster overall with faster textboxes, but a slower intro.
