I’m 70. Have eaten only plant based vegan for 40+ years. It has kept me very healthy to this point. So many young TH-camrs have taught me how to eat better as I deprived myself a lot in these many years. Great topic!❤

I really needed this pep talk and healthy, common sense eating advice. I have never been overweight in my life but I now weigh more than I ever have (except when I was pregnant 😅). I make sure my kids eat well, but I don’t take the time to make sure I eat well. I do the skipping meals and then become starving and then eating cheese and crackers instead of eating fruits or vegetables. 😵‍💫

Thanks for sharing Jenna. I hadn't thought of a lot of those things. I was 124 pounds even into my 30's. After some injuries and just life in general happening ... I am at 202 pounds. At 5 feet 3 inches and that weight...I am miserable. I don't care about the # on the scale anymore, I just want to feel healthy again. Glad to be on this health journey with you. God Bless You!

As an Aussie I am always amazed at the portion sizes in US cooking. Also the inclusion of sugar. So much in all your store bought food even bread! Microbiome is crucial. Reduce animal proteins and increase seasonal vegetables. Weight is misleading. Fat vs lean muscle tissue is what we need to understand.

Jenna! I SO NEEDED TO HEAR THIS TODAY! I don’t really have a sweet tooth, I have a carb tooth!! That tip you gave about keeping bread and pasta to only dinner, and eating the same things every day were really inspiring to me. I have become disabled and am the heaviest I have ever been. A lot of it due to uncontrollable inflammation. I think if I could incorporate some of these plant based meals it would really help me. Thank you very much!!❤ You help more than you know!!❤❤❤

Cinnamon is also good for reducing inflammation. I have type 2 diabetes and I drink 2 cups of cinnamon tea a day (which I love). I try to follow a low carb, high protein diet with lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and other fresh vegetables. I try to limit the amount of sugar, bread, white potatoes and rice but they are on my meal plan, sprinkled in. My body doesn't like when I cut them out completely so out of 21 meals, I'll eat them at three or four meals. It's not supposed to be a punishment to eat healthier and for me, cutting it all out caused my overall health and mental health to seriously decline.

Hi Jenna. I have been slowly loosing weight over the past few years. I am doing a lot of the same things as you. I focus on getting enough protein and fiber. For instance, I have a high fiber, high protein breakfast. This breakfast helps keep me full and energized all day. I no longer have intense sugar cravings. I love walking. My favorite places to walk are a local wetland and the beach. I have been slowly loosing weight. Its been about 20 pounds a year. I have lost 60 pounds. I have 35 pounds left to loose. I know that it will happen.

It's so helpful and encouraging to hear these things from your perspective. Truly. It's things I've heard time and time again, but it really hits the way you put things like taking it one thing at a time. Don't over complicate it by doing all the things all at once. A positive step is still a move in the right direction. Also, by combining something you WANT to to with something that is good for you to do *exercise* is such a great motivator. Thank you 😊

Interesting talk. I have my “fast” time in the mornings, as that seems to suit my body best.
You appear to follow the whole food , sometimes called real food, and slow food movements. Something you said about buying prechopped nuts, I think you appreciate the time you spend on making healthy food as in my opinion it helps you make good choices AND personally it’s a “time out” that actually relaxes me. When I worked full time we prepared meals for most of the week on a Sunday, and it was fun too.

Love this Jenna!!! I am doing a similar thing. I love Avocado on sourdough toast or greek yogurt, berries, cinnamon, flax & chia seeds with flaked almonds for breakfast. It keeps me going till dinnertime, where I eat a healthy meal.
I also follow the Glucose Goddess hacks & don’t eat after 7pm most days
It is having the effect that these new weight loss jabs like Ozempic have, it switches the ‘food noise’ off and I can choose when I treat myself, rather than always giving in to cravings.
Sugar & ultra processed foods have the same effect on me, just make me feel lethargic and bloated.

I follow a channel called ,Chikara Transformations,,shes a body builder, but she also coaches people into getting a healthier body. Ive watched her many years. It might be something you would be interested in. She does alot of different content on TH-cam, but shes on Instagram too. My mother was from Germany and was a great cook. She didn’t bake but the occasional cheesecake and an assortment of cookies around the holidays. She had this cookie that was German that was sort of a soft baked cookie that was blobbed onto the sheet baked and she would put white icing on half and chocolate on the others. The powdered ingredients except the sugar and flour was a German brand she would buy from a German store. It was flavored unsweetened pudding and a certain type of baking powder. The pudding was either a mild almond or vanilla flavored depending on what she grabbed out of the cabinet. Starbucks vanilla bean scones are the closest I’ve found at any store. Nothing better than a good chocolate chip cookie though. Great video as always.

I had a massive heart attack three years ago and I ate right and did everything right...I had no high cholesterol no plaque and no high blood pressure and it was a very rare heart attack. It was one that pregnant woman usually gets and they wanted to just let me die but an amazing Doctor came along and said I've seen this one time in my forty years of being a heart Surgeon and I fixed it so he put three stints in it and it saved me. Three weeks later I fell and shattered my ankle I men like a plate and nine nails ( That's what I call them ) I got so depressed after that I ate candy cookies whatever I wanted and I gained forty five pounds now my husband and I started walking again. It took three years to even learn to be happy I'm alive and my grand babies. I'm on all this medicine but because they can't tell me why I had a heart attack and don't know how to treat me still I have to take all these meds even though I don't have any heart related problems.. it was very depressing for me for months..I'm just learning to walk again without a cane. But we walked two miles a day and now I can't even walk a half a mile but I'll get there we started again. I hope I can be happy even though now I live with chronic pain. It's been sad and depressing but it's why I like to watch your videos. Thank you and I have a brand new grand baby that needs me and another on the way.. Depression sucks and heart attacks suck.

There is a book called "The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook 2nd edition" and on page 217 it has therapy for lower leg, ankle, and foot pain. I have a friend who insisted I borrow her book to learn about my daughter's chronic neck pain (not sure exactly where your pain is). Just happened 2 days ago so if this comment helps- I'll just be passing a blessing on (not sure if my daughter will recieve this info after I research though 🙄). Absolutely right about what the lack of good/deep sleep can do to you.
Have you tried using almond or other alternative type of flour to make bread etc. & a monk fruit or other type of sweetener if needed?
If you haven’t already, try Brazil nuts, 😋.

I haven’t baked at all for quite awhile but if I start up again I’ll probably use them if needed.

Also, I want to break the need for sweet, so I'm not using much sweetener at all lately. Also, the worst sweeteners are the maltodextrine and maltotol. They will tear up your stomach so fast, and it's used in lots of low-sugar commercial desserts.
