I think that's a horrible idea. Not only are you keeping up the general "beginning of a relationship" insecurity in the other person, but you're also constantly monitoring yourself so you don't "feel too much" or whatever. That really takes the fun, enjoyment and intimacy out of what could become a great relationship. Also it actively sabotages any progress the relationship might tike and just raises the chances it fails. And all because you "don't want to get hurt". That's just stupid in my opinion.

Yeah, when a partner breaks your trust, they are the villians for sure! Then the trick is to emotionally detach, that is so hard, even when they don't deserve that you still care about them.
I never have this problem because I'm a sociopath who only uses people for my own personal benefit. If the person who I'm using to satisfy my sexual needs leaves me I can just easily find someone to replace them. It's so simple when you think about it in those terms.
