- Day[9] replies to a viewer's apprehension about an upcoming date, advising that the best way to develop conversation is to ask a lot of questions, and to respond to the last part of the other person's answer. Additionally, he stresses the importance of providing a hook at the end of your own statements - such as a question - to give the other person something to respond to.

I love these new highlights. I don't often get to watch all of Sean's stream, and so miss what I love most about his stream.

Watching this makes me wish that as a kid my elementary school had some sort of "Basic Human Communication" class. It would have been tremendously helpful.

At the beginning there Day9's talking about active listening. Active listening is when you wait till the very end of the person's last sentence to think of something to respond, because if you start thinking of something to respond from the beginning you've missed the rest of conversation. People have taken workshops about this and he explains it so easily xD. +1
The most fundamental thing imo is asking open questions. Don't frame your questions in a way that can be answered with just a yes or no. So not "So did you like the movie?" but rather "What about the movie did you like?"

How to win friends and influence people is the bible on being a good conversationalist. Everyone wants to feel important, its what drives us as human beings, be sincere and appreciative but remember flattery gets you nowhere, it must be sincere. The easiest way to become a good conversationalist is to become a good listener. The royal road to a person's heart is to talk about the things he or she treasures most. If we talk to people about what they are interested in, they will feel valued and value us in return. This book was published in October 1936, and is still considered one of the best books anyone can read... Day[9] basically hits it on the head and Id be surprised if he hadn't read the book himself.

I approve this message. have done it on a date and it went very well. the hooks are key.
even if you try hard to give hooks, sometimes the date wont get it or more importantly(recent experience) they talk and dont give you hooks.. and its like,, ahh.. what the fuck im going to talk about
Yeah, that happened a lot to me too. Really sucks. I guess a little portion of luck is also involved in having the right match between the people in the conversation.
