- Typical suicide mission deep behind the frontline... We need to destroy an enemy airbase, so we go low and fast, with the radar off to avoid detection. But before I could realize it, our escort was gone for good, and we were alone facing lots of MiGs. Radar on, MRM mastermode, Fox 3, DGFT mastermode, emergency jettison, Cat I, and guns guns guns!
The "pull up, pull up" is the TFR, but I had other priorities...

I was just doing a mission to a radar installation in the western part of the DPRK. Flight was easy at first but then somehow we got jumped by Mig-21s while hitting the ground target. Best feeling and best dynamic campaign engine ever.

Link 16 is phenomenal, I can easily turn the radar off without losing SA... I love it so much that I'm adding donors left and right

Damn flying below allowed mission alt is crazy! Rules of engagement out the window when you got the SA awareness of a hawk. I'm pretty sure you had more 120's after you fired your first one. Then upon hearing the growl of an aim9 following that shot was an impressive decision when you're in a knife fight in a phone booth
I had another 120 and a couple of Sidewinders! But you know, "too close for missiles, switching to guns". Flying this way is less realistic but way more exciting ;)

It occurs to me that the aircraft is *suggesting* you pull up. Great kills! Hope to gear back up and return to the Viper cockpit. Casual Open Falcon 4.7/SP4 player, 10-year-old me had too much fun playing Instant Action & Dogfight.

Why so many Pull up warnings when not even in danger of hitting the ground?

@@dorian4219 Nice to get a reply. Thank you! TFR = Terrain Following Radar I gather.
It's not that simple.. You get the pull up warning when you fly outside of the parameters of the TFR, speed and attitude, or when the radar can't see the ground (you get also an automatic pull up, but I disabled it), in this case, switching off the TFR would have meant that I would not have enough time to react to those migs

It's the growl of the ir missiles, in dgft mode you have both the gun and the sidewinders hot
@@evilangel_1919 Yeh, I playedF4SP and F4AF back in the day, and early versions of F4BMS. Must be just the sound through my speakers . . . lol
@@BuggSmasher maybe you're referring to the growling when the weapon cue is looking at the horizon, it's more rougher and distorted when there's not a clear ir source (and I don't think that was like this in the old falcon days). My settings are also the standard ones, which replicate the sounds heard through the helmet
So we’re not ganna talk about the f-16 with the f-22 heads up display
It's called Wide Angle Raster, it's implemented in some f-16, for example in the block 40 used to AG missions

when you are constantly monitoring radar, hsd, tgp, building SA with mark 1 eyeballs, managing IA or teammates, comms, iff, and at the same time avoiding the enemy, graphics are the least thing you're paying attention to. And it's not even 1997 graphics, because every patch is better than the one before. With 4.38 the terrain will be better than DCS
