I wish i had Portuguese in school..But my school only had Spanish & French & Chinese & German. Then i just discovered this channel. In School they told me that Portuguese was only spoken in Brazil so I decided to go with Spanish since I live in California and that's all I heard daily even from politicians. Hopefully I could learn a bit since it's similar to Spanish.

Aqui no Brasil, a maioria das pessoas usam a preposição "em" com os verbos ir e chegar, apesar de entrar em desacordo com a norma-padrão

Mia, to curiosa se tiver pronuncias diferentes de "em" quando ta nos diferentes lugares? Porque alguma ouvi pronuncias de "em" como "in"/"æm"/"ai(como bem)".

Sim, seria essa a explicação que daria. Os falantes nativos estão sempre a negociar o sentido das coisas e o que considero um tempo longo num contexto, posso não considerar noutro. Aqui se digo “vou para a festa”, em vez de “vou à festa”, será porque para mim a festa irá demorar e considero longo o suficiente para usar o “para” ☺️

Dois é masculino. Tenho dois carros. Duas é feminino. Tenho duas casas.
Olá! The number 1 and 2 has two different forms - feminine and masculine. When you have a masculine noun (nouns are feminine or masculine, in Portuguese), you will have to use the masculine form of the number: 1- um; 2- dois; if you have a feminine noun you’ll have to use the feminine form of the number: 1- uma; 2- duas.
Ex:
Carro - masculine noun
1 car - Um carro
2 cara - Dois carros
Casa - feminine noun
1 house - uma casa
2 houses - duas casas
The rest of the numbers stay the same, they only have one form, but everyone you have a 1 or 2 number (like in 21 and 101 and 52 and 92, for example) you have to pay attention whether you have a noun after and whether the noun is masculine or feminine.

Just go to vedio setting you are playing , on top right corner of your screen, there you will find at the bottom “Playback Speed” , you can reduce the speed as much you want.

I find it hard to tell where a word ends. The endings all have vowels and sound so "mushy" to me.
You mean the vowel reduction?😊... it may also happen in English or French...
In Portuguese-PT, there is a strong 'vowel contrast' : usually a very open stressed vowel and very closed non stressed vowels...
@@jandeolive6007 Vowel reduction? It sounds (to me) like almost ALL vowels...almost as if the mouth never closes. LOL. Gorgeous sounds...
@@peterschwartz8363When I said 'vowel reduction' I was referring to the 'closed' non-stressed vowel sounds, very common in Portuguese from PT.
I am trying to interpret your impression... 🙂perhaps it has to do with the 'vowel' component of the consonantal sound, especially at the end of words. For example, the word 'quente' ('hot') is pronounced like the EN word 'Kent', except that the ending 'vowel' component of the 't', may be sometimes more extended in PT. I don´t know your language background, but this example may configurate what I imagine you were describing... the never ending succession of 'subdued' non-stressed 'vowel' sounds...🙂
