    6.4 is a fantastic engine. I tow every day with my 2017. I have only had to do maintenance and replace the thermostat. 70000 miles currently.

      @@jehoiakimsmith3152 I tow my tree service equipment daily and a 16 foot dump trailer overfilled with logs daily. It uses alot of fuel when towing. It's alright though because it was under $38,000 to purchase and costs didly squat to maintain. I've heard the new 8 speed transmission paired with the 6.4 hemi is an even better powertain.

    Hey Ben ... on the stickers, I may be speaking for myself, but the most important door sticker is the Weight Capacity (yellow sticker) showing GVWR & Payload. That payload varies by model/options as options add weight, reducing payload capacity.

    I've had both. 6.7 Cummins and a 6.4 hemi. Just got rid of the 6.7 and I am keeping the hemi. And this is coming from someone that had diesel trucks for 25 years. 5.9 12 valve, 7.3 powerstroke, 5.9 and 6.7 ram.

    Drive a whole lot of miles get the diesel, drive average miles (10-12K a year) get the gas 6.4. and keep it for 15 years. That said if you tow through mountains get the diesel. The 6.4 is just a bit sluggish going up hill pulling over 10K.

I haven't seen a tradesmen review in awhile, I'd also like to see possibly the new packages offered in the warlock edition, I think they have the Mojave Sand paint color scheme now. Just a thought, I did enjoy this review though.

    No one ever mentions the fact that although the diesel is more fuel efficient, the cost of diesel fuel is more per gallon than gasoline so any savings you get in mpg, you lose in pump price. That's not even factoring in the cost of DEF which reviewers also fail to mention. All I ever hear is the extra purchase price of a diesel engine and the higher maintenance costs but there are many more cost factors involved.

    • @MrStaybrown
      @MrStaybrown 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Plus cost of 2 fuel filters for Cummins. They aren't cheap.

    • @survivalguyfyi5718
      @survivalguyfyi5718 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MrStaybrown; I know. I have a 2006 F350 cab and chassis 6.0 powerstroke. I by far prefer the Cummins. This was just the only thing available at the time for my price point. It is impressive in its power but man. Maintenance sucks. Fuel filters are about $65 and it takes 14.6 quarts of oil if I remember correctly. I wanna say changing my oil myself runs about $150-$200 and I have to do it every 5,000 miles. I can’t stretch it a few K like I could with my old 7.3. When this thing bites the dust I’m getting a big gasser. Between the 7.3 ford gasser and the 6.6 Chevy gasser, the 6.6 seems to be the one performing the best. I’m leaning that way but who knows what we’ll have in another 10 years or so.

    • @MrStaybrown
      @MrStaybrown 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@survivalguyfyi5718 I hear ya. I purchased 2019 3500 megacab 6.4 hemi. It takes a special blend that has moly and though the 6.4 hemi doesn't take much oil, it costs me $110 just for oil. Oil and filter doing it myself is $140-ish.

    • @wesleydean4228
      @wesleydean4228 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The diesel holds it’s value so much better than the gas.

    • @survivalguyfyi5718
      @survivalguyfyi5718 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wesleydean4228: Correct but any resale value you get in the end, you pay up front. And you pay more on the front end than you get on the back end. That said, I think Fiat has turned RAM trucks into junk. Really looking at the Ford 7.3 gasser. I’ve heard it’s very reliable. My only real issue with Ford is they have computerized their trucks so much and programmed everything to the point where any sensor warning and your entire truck shuts down. Even for non-critical things like an exhaust sensor. These new diesel trucks from all three, no matter what brand, now tripped pulse the fuel injectors for fuel economy. Results are marginal but now your injectors last 60,000 miles instead of 180,000 miles. At $1,000 per injector, that’s a rough pill to swallow.

      It’s hard to tell at this point. The fords new 7.3 has more power on paper but it’s a new engine so it could have un foreseen issues. And a brand new 10speed transmission. The ram 6.4 hemi has been around longer and has held up great in most accounts, I’ve owned two. And in my experience it’s been a great motor. Keep in mind the ram also has a new transmission that is an 8speed for the 2019+ models. But as far as I’ve experienced the new trani has helped the towing a lot. So it comes down to what your priorities are and what you prefer. The ford has a little more power, and 2 more gears so “potentially” better fuel economy. But the ram 6.4 is a proven lasting work motor and will be cheaper than the ford. Also hemi’s sound better IMO
