    The song was fire. The saturation test was fantastic. I laughed. I cried. It was better than Cats. Congrats on your build. You've got the DIY bug now and there's no cure.

      Haha. Thanks so much! Most of my mini songs are on all the streaming platforms already. I think there are 18 mini songs there now. All in different genres.
      One day I’ll perhaps do a full album with full songs. Thanks again!

    Nice LOTR ref there talking about the chassis options. :D
    And killer funky tune! Also that's awesome tone. I dig the gain on 5 or 6 'on your voice, very rich and warm but still clear.

      Woo hoo! Of all the builds I’ve done, this one was the easiest in terms of how much I had to solder (it has the least amount of parts), but it had the least beginner friendly instructions. What I mean by that is DIYRE tells you “solder the legs in, let cool, then snip the legs off as close to the solder joint as possible”
      Hairball says, “this part goes there”. Haha.
      But luckily, Mike is awesome and can help you with any questions you may have!

    I've got a proper 1073 but that sounds pretty damn close!

    • @TheRecordist
      @TheRecordist  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That’s what I was thinking! Hairball went about it differently, but achieved a result so close that people who can’t afford a proper 1073 have a great option!
      Thanks for your comment!

      @@TheRecordist The best thing about an actual bit of hardware is the tolerances in the parts means each 500 unit will have slight differences. The software is OK but everything is exactly the same.
      BTW have you tried the Warm Audio Tone Beast? Its really good on VO.

    That tune is FIRE as the kids say. I have a pair of these that I bought used (and already built) for $800. They absolutely do the saturation thing and I noticed when you drive them how the waveform almost looks like it's clipping. I really like them for vocals, drum room mics, acoustic guitar and bass DI. Just depends on the tune. Great review as usual.

    I always enjoy your videos. Beautifully shot and sound fantastic! Do you add much EQ to your voice in post? The sound you have from this room sounds really good! And that's not even using your booth!

    • @TheRecordist
      @TheRecordist  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey thanks! No, I do not do anything to my audio when I’m reviewing an audio product that I’m using while I’m talking. So that’s pure unprocessed audio. The only thing I do is add a limiter in case I get too loud.
      The room is just full of moving blankets. Haha. Thanks so much for your awesome observations!

    $295? That's crazy. I get free hairballs from my cat. Okay, sorry, I'm an idiot. I don't have use for this in my simple chain (mic-Motu M6- computer) right now, but great to know about the Copper. And thanks, because my wife and I had a blast dancing the funky chicken to your splendid music composition!

      Hey Daniel! Hahaha. Thanks so much for the compliment! I really liked how Saturation Fascination turned out. That tune was in my head as soon as I heard the Copper after I built it (I built it in November). So it was nice to get it out of my head and into my ears!
      That MOTU M6 is a nice interface. I’ve heard great things! Cheers!

    • @TheRecordist
      @TheRecordist  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey there. Thanks! And no. This is a preamp that you can feed into your interface. It bypasses the often cheap preamps that most interfaces have. And also allows you to get that awesome authentic 70s Neve color.
