An absolute MASTERPIECE! I would watch a feature length version of The Mic any day. Fantastic review and I like the new lighting in the booth. The amount of time you must have spent on this video really shows and it totally pays off.
Hey Mark! Thanks so much! I did spend a lot of time on it. I do a Halloween short film every year and I thought it would be perfect to do it with the LA-120. Once again, a stellar sounding mic. I used no EQ for any of those boomed shots. Impressive! Thanks again for the great comment, my friend!
You are seriously distancing yourself from the rest of the pack with your production value, simply awesome! That might be one of the best recorded acoustic guitars I’ve heard with a SDC, so honest and compelling, really beautiful! I’ve got these on my list
Absolutely loved this! You're a fantastic filmmaker and I had no idea, please continue! On any topic or story at all. Also I really enjoyed the music, every part of it (especially the synths) and tried to Shazam it before the credit appeared showing it's you. You should be so proud of yourself mate. I am utterly offended and scolded by the NT1-A slander however as an unfortunate owner before I encountered your advisory protection, my phantom power is further drained - and my gain is permanently debuffed.
Hahahaha. Wow thanks so much! I love filmmaking. I just don’t have a lot of time to do it. A new video every week takes a lot. But thank you so much for saying that! Yes. I wrote and recorded all of the music in this video. I appreciate the kind words! By the way, the synth was Arturia AudioLab V. 😉 Thanks once more for the awesome comment! Cheers!
With a large bowl of popcorn that my wife and I shared, this evening we sat down to watch the latest movie from TPS. My wife was thrilled to see a glimpse of Ms. Chamberland, as she is her favorite actress! And I found myself spellbound in fear at the sight of an evil possessed NT1-A. A good time was had by all, probably because I didn’t mention buying any more Lauten mics, at least not at that moment. And what a joy to see you reprise your famous waking up in bed scene with your hair sticking straight up. That’s got to be a TPS fan favorite! And my wife is endlessly humming your song now, which I hope will distract her from taking away my credit card. (By the way, FANTASTIC video and production)
Hahahaha! I just read Bridget this comment and she blushed. Hahaha. Thank you so much, man! I always look forward to your awesome comments, my friend! And I think you’ve been with me since the beginning! Thank you for that! Cheers, brother!
Just brilliant. Using your sense of humour, which is right up my alley! Makes the video even better to watch along with the excellent facts about the mic. Takes a lot of work to do all this so it’s appreciated. Also what a great track you wrote, again something I respect . Thanks :)
This was excellent. Funny, informative, entertaining and a little bit scary near the end. You are my new favourite microphone reviewer. So many elements made up this video and I loved all of them. Lauten must be pleased, they even got a free song about their mic.
The short was just fantastic. Loved the style and 80s theme. I was chuckling and riveted at the same time. I ended up getting a pair of these in a round about fashion. Order a mic I wanted from a place on the interwebz and got a dud. Did the exchange, got another dud. Asked if I could exchange dud #2 for a pair of these -- they agreed. I've used them for drum overheads, a wide stereo pair for drum room and acoustic guitar The transformerless design give you really honest feedback on your source -- can be good and bad. I'm a huge fan of Lauten as well and own a Clarion, an LS-308 and a SnareMic. All get a fair amount of use in my humble studio.
Hey thank you so much! And I’m glad you love Lauten as much as I do! I’m looking at getting a Clarion to review on this channel. Everyone is talking so highly about it!
Wow, you spent a lot of time and effort making this video, and it was awesome. Great job on The Mic. The song was also awesome. At one point I was considering one of these mics for filmmaking indoors, before I got my Oktava MK-012, but as you noted, it just lacks a little for that purpose, though perfect for what it was created for, instruments. Where did you get your stock footage from?
Hey man! Thanks! Honestly, the LA-120 did a fantastic job as a boom mic. The sound quality was so good that I didn’t need to EQ it. That stock footage from the beginning was from Pexels. Free. Haha.
@@TheRecordist - Yes, it did sound very good, But to my ear (and listening through a Bose Soundlink II wireless speaker known to be a little bassy) It doesn't seem to have the same base response as the Oktava. Not just here but as I've heard on other reviews. Maybe if I listened through headphones I would think differently. My laptop cannot find the operating system so it is essentially dead. I lost all my Bookmarks and can't remember all my free footage resources, so thank you. I've got a clip or two from Pexels before. You seem to find just the right footage for your short. I got footage of a soldier getting shot for a quick clip I did during COVID when everyone was quarantined. Some friends of mine made a round robin video of what they were doing at home during this time, and then named someone else to pick up and add their video. The guy before me ended his with "You think this is weird? You should see what Steve -------- is doing. Hey Steve!" You need to know that to understand the beginning of my clip. The background I used is a photo I took at the Mansfield Reformatory prison in Mansfield, Ohio (Shawshank). We'll see if TH-cam will allow this link. It's not perfect, but effective. ;) vimeo.com/manage/videos/401551266
@@TheRecordist - Thanks!! I was trying to give it the Matrix green hue that you see in the movie. I'm pretty happy with it. BTW, the MP5 is not real. Oh well. It looks good on camera.
Mike Myers has nothing on the NT1a. At this rate, I’m going to end up in lust with every mic in the Lauten catalogue. That high roll-off strikes me as kinda unique and particularly handy for taming anything with piercing high end (glockenspiel, I’m looking at you). Or maybe just generally getting a ribbon-y or vintage-y sound?
Hahaha. Oh yes! The Lauten Audio mics are some of my favorite mics on earth! I own five Lauten Audio mics (six if you count the LA-120s twice). Each one of them are fantastic. The 120s would be PERFECT for a glockenspiel!
Lauten Audio is truly doing a fantastic job with these mics. There are too many that I want and my wife always says you only have one mouth. How do I respond to that?
Hey thanks! I used Arturia Analog Lab V for all of the opening theme song (along with me playing guitar into a cabinet miked with an LA-120), and also KiloHearts Phase Plant for more of then atmospheric sounds. Cheers!
i fully expected you to walk into the bathroom to take a leak and look down with that ominous music and your expression of disbelief/fear........... amazing opening. The music...$$$$$$
excited during the movie, cried during the song
