I’ve watched your tutorials on and off for a year now and I’ve plastered several rooms here, my first was our grand salon - 5 meters by 12 room and four meter high walls - Jesus I was absolutely done in after that. You gave me courage (Im a woman so I was nervous even more of giving it a go - not being sexist just the truth). Here in France, tradespeople are ridiculously expensive so I gave it a go - couldn’t of done it without you. Thanks Blane, Leanne

Mate I've been plasterer for 20 years i always put a few handfuls of bonding in first coat to get over high spots trust me you will not look back i didn't. 2nd coat just plaster!!

I find it quite funny how easy we got it these days. My father plasterer by trade literally uses one trowel, hawk and gets it flat, hard work but does. I told him about the speed skims and he literally sees it as the devils work. Told me "i catch you with one of those I'll wrap it around your skull, use your skill you lazy ****" 😂 yeah I've used one and it is so much easier

Excellent videos. My only comment is to outline the timings. So 1) pva - first coat 2) 1st coat - flatten 3) flatten- 2nd coat 4) 2nd coat - flatten 5) 2nd flatten - polish

  • @steviemurdoch3213

Sounds like auditioning for holly oaks or Corry 😂

  • @Participant616

Probably could have gone straight to skimming in most situations?

You've explained a lot in this video and made it look easy... but I know it isn't! I can do most handyman/DIY tasks with ease but brick laying and plastering are two I shy away from. You've encouraged me to give plastering a go. Just hope my shoulder can take it 🤔

Could you do a video of timings. How long after the first coat do you start to flatten? When do you apply the second coat, how long before you flatten that, what timeline do you do each stage of the process?

  • @Cybertruck1000

    Thumbs up for crocs.

  • @rebeccakeane5126

just out of curiosity, how long did this one ceiling take? my whole house has textured ceilings and I hate them 😭

  • @janetjones2569

I am going to plaster my porch ceiling. Small space. Textured. I am in awe of your skills. Lucky mother in law! Thankyou for this info. 👏

Today I have finish my first ever plastering, and it was exactly like on your video artex ceiling, didn’t do any plastering before and started from the ceiling…I did exactly like on your video first bonding coat and then after few days two coats of plaster multi finish , the most trouble caused drying plaster , as a novice of course it was hard to do whole coat in 1 go so on the end was a bit dry , ceiling had about 10m2 . Your videos are very helpful, it is everything beginner plasterer should know , now we need to just practice practice practice and learn from experience, thank You for your help

I’ve been plastering 50 years and did my apprenticeship without the help of You Tube. The thing I’ve realised watching these videos is that larger areas are not necssarily more difficult than small ones. Thanks for this. One thing - if your head were about 4 inches closer to the ceiling you would be more comfortable.

Totally agree with you on the speedskim, for any DIYer who has more than one room to do it is a game changer. For the finish and confidence it gives you it’s worth every pound!
