My favourite discovery is finding people like Milt Kahl and legendary Disney, animators who you assume do everything on 1's and go crazy, actually use a lot of "shortcuts" even on great shots. The real pros use shortcuts and retain that quality.
The point at 7:05 is one that has helped me the most. I made a character sheet for my roommate for a project of hers, but she was still indecisive of the colors she wanted and I learned from trying to do this before that sheis incredibly indecisive. I took the time to set up the character sheet ahead of time where she could adjust each colors' hue, shade and saturation separately and let her play with it to her liking. It might have taken quite a bit of time and effort to set up each color to be its own layer for her to edit however she wanted (and make the layers foolproof in case she messes with the layering and files too much), but that extra time saved me days if not weeks of indecisive changes! She was able to get back to me with definitive colors she wanted because she was able to decide on them on her own accord without the stress of taking up my time or worrying about making changes after putting in a lot of work. At this point, no amount of tedious effort is too much if it's for a reusable tool or asset for myself and others. Putting in the work now to save myself later is well worth it!
god you have no Idea how much i need this right now, slammed in the middle of production Directing young artists and panicking on my own lol, I am deffo using the stamps!
Gotta love when someone refuses to change, adapt, or try anything new but it's somehow everyone else's fault that things aren't working out for them. Seen that with a few artists now.
Great video. I think the problem is also working for a real audience vs other professionals that see mistakes or shurtcuts because they have a trained eye.
i really just went on a splurge for animation tips and I just realized I've watched like 5 of your videos in the past hour. Long story short: you got my sub.
dude respects to you for all you work and time you give ius, cause with out some of these tips id be in a bad place for a long time. thank you so much.
Thank you so much for your tutorials and experience sharing!! I'm also an animation major student and now I'm struggling with my thesis film…in independent production 🙃…… Your tips and sharing helped me a lot. Thank you, Toniko Pantoja!
Some of this I noticed that I automatically do. I want to get the point, not to polish elbows and wonder why it takes me 50 years to get 5 minutes done. Polished animation, looks better when you also have less polished animation next to it for comparison. If everything is perfect all the time, it makes perfection appear casual.
Been using a lot more brush stamps for backgrounds, like grass and trees. Definitely helps. Colorscripts is something I really should have given more thought into.
Is it normal to feel insecure for being slow and struggling? Sometimes I genuinely feel a little dumb, further burning me out. And strangely making me more determined
Hi mate. I’m very new to animation. The effects that you mentioned in the video (splashes, crashes, impact lines etc) you said you could upload them to your gumroad to sell online. Do you happen to have any of these as packs for sale? I’ve just had a look at your gumroad page and couldn’t see any. Many thanks.
Should I buy your stuff if I am not really good at drawing? I am better than average and you can definitely see what or Whom I am drawing, but still, I wouldn't sell my art and I would not buy it either xD
write something very fast, no matter how lame or cliche it turns out, just do it. Then you have a finished script and you just need to rework it until you're satisfied. It just takes the mental burden of not having something fully done. Reworking is easier, especially when you get ''in the zone''

I don't think Disney cheats character design, though nowadays, I can be wrong.
@@sandrahart6195 They definitely cheat some things, even Mickey’s ears are a cheat.

That’s not just animation, that’s every aspect of being alive!

Well said and a lot of great ideas as always! Nice video Toniko! 👍
Im an animation student. I find your videos as one of the most helpful ones out there.
A lot of good principles here. I'll have to bookmark this & keep coming back to remind myself.
Ring ring reminder to watch this video again!
I think I physically recoiled in fear at the "it's cheating, bro!" voice.
(Great video)
I definitely needed to see this video lol
I TAKE EONS ON ANIMATIONS XDDD
I don't think that's wrong as long as you love it. I think you'll get faster eventually.😄
Really needed this right now
Great video. I think the problem is also working for a real audience vs other professionals that see mistakes or shurtcuts because they have a trained eye.
Your tips literally come at the exact time I need them. What are you, a mind reader? These are sooo useful 🙏

Your tips and sharing helped me a lot. Thank you, Toniko Pantoja!
My favorite animation styles that are cost-effective and recyclable are Hanna Barbera and Osamu Tezuka.
Really love all your advice, wish i learned more of this stuff when i was taking classes
This was a great video I hope you make more videos about working smarter. Its always great to learn new time saving techniques.
As always, great timing with your videos, Toniko!
Your channel keep me going. For real thank you so much.
I'll definitely be applying a lot of these tricks for my work project.

Ending part of ego got cut off too soon, what else were you going to say at the end?
3:25 I think ive said this a few times on these videos but I really need to let loose and make some silly small projects.
I want to become a 2D animator and hopefully be able to make my own short films but there is a problem, I suck at drawing. What should I do?
I think he has a video about how to get better at drawing
Its very easy. Learn! Nobody sucks at art. You just dont know how to draw correctly.
@@bornana269 It's not very easy, but indeed it can be learned
I love this video so much, thank you!! Also, I adore your intro so much!
9:20 he reminds me of that one tiger from Zootopia that would treat you _right_
This is life saver

that cutoff is kinda thematic
Thank you Toniko !.. 👍 ❤ 🕊
kind of ironic that this video cut off before it was finished.
Just saw this from my watch later from a month ago, hahaha💀

Should I use lineweight on animation
Do you use Adobe animate (I’m asking this before I watched the whole video)?
Should I buy your stuff if I am not really good at drawing? I am better than average and you can definitely see what or Whom I am drawing, but still, I wouldn't sell my art and I would not buy it either xD
