Its a budget standalone device. I dont understand why everyone wants to have premium features and expect companies to keep the price the same. If you need more, go to the Live 2. Or the X. One thing you cannot do is please everyone because even if the add the battery or more RAM, theres gonna be videos, comments still saying "when tilted screen, why no 1 hour battery? " bro, no one is messing with Akai on the standalone field and im pretty sure they have more products in the future. I dont understand the hate. If its not for you, dont buy it.
I’ve been saying they want more, but don’t want to pay the price. Honestly, it’s getting tiring. Want more Ram, use your vsts just get a laptop and a mpc studio
I feel like they ahould have put a battery on this like the live, and THEN called it the plus. A one with a battery and rhe ability to charge it up would be sick...
I feel lucky to have a classic MPC 2000 XL, it is the machine that changed the way I compose my musical ideas, and MPC as the name itself gave it is a MIDI production center, I can sequence 2 more machines by midi and also You can sequence tracks in logic pro, that's just using MIDI only. The sampler captures audio and can be edited as usual, with graphics and 12 FX in the expansion with 8 audio outputs. 32mb of ram I can sample 198 seconds in mono. But last year I bought a SP404 that does the same things and now with firmware 3.0 it exceeded many expectations, it's like having another extension of the same machine but with more features. Ok and now I see people complaining about 2 GB of ram just because they want to use plugins? people who have ipads with apps and plugins? oh really? Where was the essence and spirit for the art of sampling? I see nobody wants a sampler here, it just seems like they want a computer with backlit buttons and nothing but a PC that looks like an MPC, because if you really want an MPC (midi production center) you shouldn't go any further than that. what it is, but the MPC ONE+ and all the new MPC ua are not MPC's they are workstations Laptops with buttons and knobs to rotate with a touch screen, that's all. there ends the whole story. So, when people have a PC or MAC to do complete productions for some songs they only need instruments and I don't think an MPC needed to have many plugins because we have real synthesis monsters on computers, an MPC will never give a thing like MAX or Reaktor 7, I don't see that they are with artificial intelligence either. I have an MPC 2000XL expanded to the maximum, it has a value of 1800 for the expansions, but I will not use it as a synthesizer, only as a sampler and midi sequencer for my minimoog and waldorf Quantum synthesizers, the rest I do not need, because the machine only gives 8 tracks for audio and midi. The MPC is great for brainstorming when you have your computer busy with other tasks, it's an instrument for finger drumming and midi sequencing with other machines, it's handy when you don't want to turn on all the equipment in the studio or for live use with machines, that's It's comfortable, but I don't see it as an all-in-one, because it's too limited even with the MPC-X. no current machine is better than a Mac with an M1 chip and 16,32,64 GB of ram. Ok my Ipad has a M1 chip and 16 GB of ram... it's much more powerful than any high end sampler and I can do all things with logic pro now, is there any MPC that can beat that situation? no, there ain't no damn thing to beat it, ipad is a laptop with the best battery and portability, the best touch screen, the best apps for anything. Akai wants to make the MPC an ipad with buttons, but it's only becoming the Apple of samplers, although it's a long way from achieving stable machines and wide capabilities like an apple ipad pro. Greetings, thanks for the video.
If it would have had a battery and upgraded ram I would have copped it... the red isn't that bad but imo it clashes with the mpcs interface colors and I think the mpc retro is still hands down the best looking mpc out
Thanks man I just ordered the MPC plus and I understand what you’re saying if you already have one, but I listen to you carefully and thanks for the advice because for what I need it for it will suit me just fine thanks again for your honest review of it. Because I basically need to put my ideas down when I don’t feel like going to the computer but for real I do want that battery that still kinda don’t sit too well with me. I’ll see how it works out. If it doesn’t I’ll send it back and get me an MPC Live..
I just bought the One in December and I asked myself if I had known 6 months ago that a new MPC One would’ve come out would I have I waited? Probably not I store everything on sd and flash drives and I don’t mind plugging up a cable for updates because hardwired is always faster.
I am not a MPC user. I understand that the One is a entry level machine. I think this is a mid-range upgrade cycle release. I think the next round of MPC's will more than likely have a completely different architecture. Just like apple does they release those interim devices, then the next cycle they totally redesign the whole thing. It takes time to create new hardware with new internals.
I think you're on the right track. They currently do small "cosmetic" updates, because they are working on something big. I hope they will simplify the workflow, and the next device with it will be the MPC Mini. I'm waiting for that machine.
@@towerrunner4675 Most companies do the same thing. Some are more effective in the changes between versions than others, but it looks like a regular in between update to me.
@@towerrunner4675 I disagree apple does it all the time with the iPhone. It has had the same form factor for more than 7-8 years since the introduction of the big phone format. They offer multiple sizes to allow consumers the freedom of some choice and also reduced feature models with previous unit features as affordable solutions. They also tend to do colorway changes as gimmicks to make the cheap phones look good. This is a classic marketing scheme at this point.
@@Ast3rixMusic Akai makes tools for creators. That's a very different market. It feels like a hardware store, selling hammers with new colors each ear.
The more i hear it, the cornier it sounds. No battery! They should keep the options. Dont discontinue the OG one and let that be $699 add a battery in the plus for $899-$999 i think people would pay for that
Akai obviously has a future business plan for plug in and instruments. So why are they making equipment that won't support their future plans? And i agree with the wire and updates stuff
I’ve never had an MPC. I’ve been looking at getting a one for a few months, I want a groove box and decided the one was the way to go but I’m glad I held out for just a few weeks. Would I upgrade if I had a one, no. But I am damn excited to get creating when my one plus arrives tomorrow.
The thing I don’t understand is, cool, add Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but why just block off the Ethernet port? Why not keep the Ethernet port as well? The cost is minimal to solder the port onto the board. I personally only update with either a card or via Ethernet. I do not trust Wi-Fi on an OS update. Wi-Fi is great for Splice and authorization I guess and it’s one less cable, but even with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi I still update my Live 2 via Ethernet. And finally, more companies are starting to use Cat 5 for audio interfaces. Akai have now made all of those interfaces redundant going forward. It just makes no sense to me.
Nord stage4 red and they don’t increase ram either. 😂 MPC one has more real-time instant access buttons than MPC Live. Some argue the workflow is faster with MPC one.
Thoroughly impressed by your knowledge of Akai products in particular. I have a question for you. If you could only choose 1 to cover all your music needs would it be, the Force, the Mpc key 61 or the MPC X (se)???????????
Great review my brother, and I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said about it!!! I'm "Gooder than Good" with my X SE until Akai comes out with something totally new and different. 🙏🏾✊🏾💚
The battery would be cool, but thats leaving the live II with less to be desired it would only be like the speaker and the expandable ssd. Honestly they shouldve budged on the ssd.
