Thanks for this video! Glad you're enjoying the V1-M and V1-X! You mentioned that you're having problems getting it to work well with Reason. Yes, Reason is a different kind of DAW. The V Series works best when you pair it with the SSL in Reason, but you can also use it to control some of the Reason instruments. When you configure the controller, you just need to right-click on the mixer and Lock Controller to Mixer or Lock Controller to Redrum or several of the other instruments. You can also use the Focus button in Reason. Press the Focus button, take your mouse and hover over a control in an instrument or on the mixer, and then you can use the jogwheel to move that parameter. Please let us know if we can answer any other questions you have. Thanks again!
After falling in love with the tactile feel of the MPC, I was curious about the Icon DAW controller. For now, I ended up getting a Push 2 for Ableton. I've spent over 10 years with Reason, but for every MIDI controller, outside the basics, you have to map *everything* to really get your money's worth. Shame Reason never had thier own Push.
Welcome to the ICON family, I've had my QCon ProG2 about 3 years now... Only have have 9 Faders, don't have room for extentions.. Don't have the Fancy colors that the model you have does, but the main buying point was the motorized Faders..... I started out using Akai MPD232 faders... The faders were to short and if you opened an old project you the levels would jump to where the setting were at time on the Akai MPD232(meaning if you had push them all the off you had to start a new)... It was so nice to start a project and the Faders moved to where they were on DAW... The VU meters on the board next to the Faders ment that I didn't have to look at the Daw when I made sound changes... Have mine sunk into my stand that I build so it lays flat, your is even Bigger so that thing takes up a lot of space !!! I was using the MCU setting for my DAW(Reaper), but lucky for me there was someone who makes update for it in the Reaper community otherwise it can be a challege to get it to work right as you have notice... ICON's webpage has some tips on different DAWs look there first.... Glad to see you Healthy and Happy Marcus !!!
Boss Great Video, I have 3 XTouch, combined with SSL CF1 and UF1 with the SSL lates update. This was God King's work. Seamless Flawlessly. Im done and never changing, and I may add the UF8 cause Im Greedy! Using ST1 and Cubase Pro, and Ableton.
The answer to the question in the title is, No. A controller may improve your work flow but it won’t magically make your mix better. Good speaker, good plug ins and a good sound treated environment is what makes for a better mix.
about Reason, it's not just you. I've been using Reason since version 3.5 and to this day have never got a controller to work as advertised within Reason with out having to go in and program it myself and even then, like you said it's squirrely. never have any of these controller support issues with the same controllers in Ableton, the issue is Reason, they need better hardware support
I have the P1-M it’s dope with Protools, I’m also a Reasonstudio user, but can’t seem to get mine to work with Reasons🤔 So I just put it back in the box, put it in the closet with the rest of my gear lol I don’t have a lot of desk space.
@ man I’m just always happy to see you on! I hope you’re feeling better physically than you were a while back. I keep missing you on Saturday nights used to stream every Saturday. I think you still do. I’ve just been super busy.
That v1m is a beast! I just wish the main meter would light up with studio one!
How would you compare it to the faderport 16? I have the FP16, but really liking the V1M.

reason is mackie protocol, studio 1 is hui protocol
It's better to use Mackie Control protocol for Studio One with the iCONs.

If you're using the P1-M with Reason, try to right-click and lock the controller to the mixer or to an instrument.
