I'm a person who really enjoys the math / physics of sailing. I'm good with the basics and have been daysailing for years, where you point where you're going and trim to course. Just recently started getting into racing, and particularly windward/leward. I understood VMG as sometimes going faster but not directly to the mark can be faster than sailing slower on a more direct course, but seeing the polars and charts really helped to nail it down for me about when that is true and when it isn't. Excellent vid, thanks for sharing!
