Most my jib trim is though feel with glances at tell tales. Man that really taught me trim is a blind man. So I learned through feel never cleating me line. Lite situations using finger tips and line across forefinger like fishing line. Sailing with me disabled mates I usually really learned to use my senses and improvising in sailing. It's really difficult for those that use fly by wire for trim and or helm. Mad respect for those folks at BAADS, BAY AREA ASSOCIATION OF DISADBLED SAILORS. Spent 6 years 3-5 days a week volunteering, racing, teaching, training, etc. They taught me everything I know. Good people there.
I would have liked to hear more about the relationship between trim and height. To present a different angle of attack to the sail, you can either change the angle of the sail or the angle of the boat. I often steer to the tell tails rather than play the sail and hold course, but I'm not sure if this is the best strategy.
Mike's the best coach on TH-cam.
Easy to understand. I always had difficulties explaining to folks.
