  • Sticky and crispy morsels of lightly breaded cauliflower with a spicy sesame sauce! These are so delicious in little lettuce wraps, over fluffy rice, or as a game day snack.
We first toss the cauliflower florets with a cassava flour batter mixture with spices, salt, pepper, and water. Cassava flour is naturally grain-free, clings nicely to the cauliflower, and bakes up crispy on the outside. I suggest alternative flours in the recipe on my site! Once the cauliflower is coated, we drip off the excess and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet. From here, it's baked until the outer coating is firm and golden in spots. While cauliflower is doing the first bake, we'll make out sauce over the stove. Tamari, maple syrup, sesame oil, rice vinegar, tomato paste, chili paste, garlic, ginger, and sesame seeds are simmered until reduced slightly. The par-baked cauliflower is quickly tossed in most of that sesame sauce and then baked again (another 20 minutes) to set the sauce and enhance the crispy-ness. I like to drizzle the remaining sauce on top and to garnish with sliced green onions.

Gochujang is great! I’ve also used Calabrian chillies here with great success
