Suit up for classic comedy! Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) take a chance on going freelance, de-haunting houses in a new ghost removal service. As soon as they open their doors, their first order of business becomes saving beautiful cellist Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) and nerdy Louis Tully (Rick Moranis), who’ve inadvertently opened the gates of hell… right in their own apartment building!

Harold Ramis is brilliant in this. Looking at his mark, keeping his arms and hands completely rigid. That awkward smile.
He's perfect
Nobody enunciates every syllable like Dan Aykroyd.
I read this in his voice
It's a gift. A weird gift, but one that lends itself perfectly to the role of Ray Stanz.

Dan is a huge fun of Jack Webb. He based most of his long elaborated speech patterns and speed on Webb's Joe Friday character in Dragnet.

It was shot on 35mm which can be scanned into 4K digital these days.
This is the glory of using film. I don’t think they can get it better than this though. At this point I think only IMAX can do better

They're so unprofessional yet professional. I love them
The chemistry and spontaneity between those three can never be recreated
the way Egon awkwardly, clumsily and consistently looks down for his camera mark as he weirdly steps forwards and backwards is pitch-perfect comedic acting.
combined with his 10/10 line reading and that great, great writing . . . i mean, how many different ways can i call a thing perfect?
it's really, really funny AND tells you everything you need to know about the character in maybe four or five seconds. this movie is a miracle. i can't say enough good things about it this morning.
I like how Ramis was acting.

I miss Harold Ramis a lot. May he rest in peace and may God always be comforting his family. May he rest in peace also David Marguiles, the mayor and Elmer Bernstein, who did the musical orchestration of the film.

I am so happy that they are making use of the official Ghostbusters TH-cam channel. I hope they keep adding more great content like this and eventually start creating new and original content for this channel.

He knows what the funniest delivery is and is sticking to it.
I think it's Venkman subconsciously rejecting the absurdity of ghosts and the supernatural, almost as if it pains him physically to say it.
It's a visual cue because he knows how rediculous it sounds, showing off his higher intelligence and superiority, his sarcastic attitude throughout is what makes his character so great because he gives off the perfect impression that he is above all of this ridiculousness and and that the job is below him.

@@RictusHolloweye Either that or the ghosts are afraid of the Ghostbusters. After the ghosts they busted in Ghostbusters 1, 2 and the 2009 game (which is set in 1990 or 1991), I don't blame them.

I absolutely love this movie.
The comedy, the writing, the odd ability of Dan Aykroyd of being able to speedily and concisely enunciate the science, or presumed science lingo, the different personalities of all of the cast conflicting and yet melding so perfectly here, it really is an amazing show that keeps me coming back so often!
Truly a lightning in a bottle movie. Love it. Love seeing behind the scenes of what made this film such a gem.
There you see the work of acting; making every take fresh, even if it’s the 50th take and you’re passing the two hour mark on the same scene.
@ AwayAWAY Just watching this I feel badly for these guys. I can only imagine how frustrating it must have been to do near perfect takes over and over and over until finally one take was deemed "perfect".
Maybe it's just my job, but this seems way more fun than normal work, I'd much rather be doing acting.

I love that Bill Murray deliberately blinks every time he steps forward to say his part. Suggests to me that his blink was deliberate rather than just a natural quirk.
I love how this clip shows that the Ghostbusters were entrepreneurs still deciding their business model along their journey.
Their goal was not to save the world, yet to make a lot of money. Such a awesome movie.

It puts in perspective how much goes into creating that prefect scene, then multiply that by the number of scenes done for the movie. I would go mad myself lol.

Or better, they are just a GOOD imitation of the original.
But being honest, even Ghostbusters 2 was a bad imitation of Ghostbusters.
Costuming details were exceptional in this movie! If you look closely, all 3 lab coats still have square creases like they just came out of their packaging. It makes sense if you think about how the commercial would have been filmed in "real life" but would have been intentional in the movie's production. Those small details hardly are noticeable, but make such a difference in building the world of Ghostbusters.
Great movies, great times. RIP, Harold Ramis. You are so missed.

watching Dan Aykroyd rattle off that amazingly dense bit of verbal soup so deftly like that on command really does provide proof for what a gifted performer he is. or _was,_ at the very least.

This is pretty cool. Ghostbusters 84 is one of my favorite movies of all time. Owned the VHS back in the 80s. I lost count on the times I worn that tape.

Oh, Columbia Pictures! Home to The Three Stooges AND Ghostbusters! I was just a wee kiddie growing up in The Bronx when these shots were made on that now famous corner of Varick & North Moore Streets ( For all you tourists looking to find this firehouse, just take the A/C/E trains to the Canal Street Station. At the south end of the Uptown is the staircase to that street corner. Once you reach street level, just do a 180°, and boom, there's the firehouse. From the Downtown platform, same direction, same 180°. You'll just be on the other side of Varick Street, next to an NYPD Horse Stable. )
