This spot looks amazing! My wife and I are going to Torrington for our anniversary, if you don't mind are you able to share where this spot was? very excited to finally find some emeralds
Congratulations on a great trip. I am trying to talk my wonderful Wife into a trip looking for gemstones. Sadly I think she has been bitten by the dreaded gold fever and to her gemstones are not so much fun. Torrington is such a beautiful area.
Oh gemstones are the best! keep trying to sway her. Digging quartz crystals out of the ground usually gets one hooked. It is really nice having someone to share in all the finds!
Thank you! Yes Emeralds appear so fine and delicate but they're actually really hard, about a 7.5-8 on the mohs hardness scale. Not as hard as Sapphire which is about a 9, but still perfect for making long lasting jewellery.
It is amazing what you can find by taking your time Seeing what you found in places we have been and not had luck and find anything but confirming that is there. Looking forward to our annual trip back to the area
Looks like you had a great trip with some very nice finds. 1or 2 of the crystals look like Aquamarine, but it could be the video image. Congratulations on a great trip, nice camp setup for a solo as well. PS. We’re you camping at one of the Blatheram campgrounds.
Thanks Silverback! Yeah it's the third Blatherarm campground. Probably right about the aquamarine, some of the clear ones are quite pale. I'll put them all under the microscope soon and see.
Hey Andy! Some were very clear and some are more darker beryls but all beautiful really :) We’re going to make more of an effort to show them in more detail in later videos. I just realised iv been following you on Facebook for years watching your channel! Love your videos mate! You could do a video called “Andy catches emeralds” haha, keep up the amazing work! Such a pleasure having a good Aussie human doing what you do
Thank you! I'm thinking of making a pendant from one of the nice clear emerald crystals, and maybe a ring or two. None of them are big enough to facet but that's okay, I rather love the natural crystal form anyway.
I'm old enough to be your Dad. I would be sooo worried about you. There are Unfortunately some very bad people out there. Be careful. Nice video though. I note these places down so when I retire, my wife and i can visit there. Thanks for sharing.
In fact that is a great point. Most of my fear came from the presence of other humans rather than any other creature. Since the area is quite isolated I had regular daily check-ins with family to minimise potential risks. It is easier and more fun to camp in groups but the solo trip despite its challenges is something so truly special and unique.
Hey that's cool even gett'n out an about fossicking by your self ha ha, New England tablelands local here Me an my brother do heaps of fossicking for gemstones on the table lands the wilderness and bush on the NSW table lands is awesome too Just be careful of the hairy man or what people call yowie's seen to of them out bush now or the the black Panthers on the NSW table lands I'm not joking either
Oh nice! we spent some time fossicking in Inverell and Glen Innes over New Years and it was fantastic! I've never seen a yowie but the bush is full of spirits so makes sense. I've never heard of black panthers in Australia but sounds interesting for sure. I do keep an eye out for dogs and wild pigs though.
do enjoy your videos , do you get the gems cut? if you do any chance you could do a video of before and afters sure would like to see how different gems from different places look finished. thanks for the video ill be there xmas 🎉
was this the Torrington state park area? I was thinking of making a trip to NSW next year 2025 to fossick for sapphires and emeralds and maybe head to lightning ridge to speck for opal..torrington state park was on my list for a day trip
Some say the colour zoning (the green and clear striped pattern) of the Torrington Emeralds makes them less valuable. But they are local, gorgeous and unique and that makes them soo valuable to me as a gem fossicker and jeweller.
Hi! How is it with the weather in this area? You Said in the video that its cold,,, what is cold there. Im use with minus celcius in Sweden and been travelled in winter time 😅 by the way is there any poison snakes 🐍 and spiders 🕷️ in the area to be afraid of 🫣

This is truly amazing adventure. Very inspiring, but I'm as a city person - still finding all kind of excuses - not to go fossicking myself.

@@fossicking entertaining and easy to watch, some channels just try too hard 🙂
Any plans on what you’ll make with them? So peaceful and relaxing that came through in the scenes shared. Thank you.

And now it does
So pretty ❤ Are they worth anything?

What do you do with the gems that you find?
Heading up that way next week!
p,s, your camera clarity is so good. Is it a gopro?
Oh nice! I wish you an awesome trip. Yeah not bad quality hey, I just used my iphone.
First!
Emeralds on a dirt road. Easily confused with a broken windscreen ?
Haha. Not easily confused at all. Very big difference
Fortnite locked up on me about a week or two ago and I had to wait for the storm to come and get me before I could start a new game .
Ok…
