Great trip and video...the green ones are olivine and the ones you call zircons are quartz...zircons from that region are water worn and generally much pinker.
Very enjoyable and very well filmed. Great effort to go out and give it a good go.. I hope you find many beautiful gems. Keep on prospecting... it's a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors. Thanks for sharing 👍
Actually, I could tell how excited you were after finding your first stone. I would be too. As a matter of fact I am about to plan a trip soon from Brisbane. Your video has been great inspiration.
Enjoyed your video, Ash. I am currently going through my blogs which I'm sure your viewers would enjoy too. Searching for John Glen Innes sapphire should find them. Links to my videos can be found there too.
Nice video👍, awesome place to fossick down there with so much mineralisation. All of the locations you find on Google have been heavily worked and some even dredged, but there's still plenty to be found for those willing to do the work
Hey Ash, I've been to that spot before a few times and I think you'll find that the green gem is Peridot (it's a pretty common find in that stretch of that river). I'd be happy to show you a couple of spots in the area to find some blues! Cheers Dan
@@MrGinz4uuu you do get sapphires there, and a couple of Ash's finds could certainly be green sapphire, it's just not as commonly found there as the peridot from what I've heard and experienced (something about peridot being in the road base nearby and ending up with lots of it in the alluvials)
Thanks Brian, always happy for some input! I would really appreciate taking up you’re offer when I’m next down - send me a PM on Insta (itsadventureash) if you have it :)
That's an awesome fine!! I went the other week and we found so many different gems, I got blue sapphires, heaps of different quarts from rose to smokey, citrine and the clear topaz pretty sure garnet. I'm still going through it all cause I'm still trying to identify more than half of them. 😄
Great effort, very good presentation. there are sapphires down here in N,E, Vic . you might try specking at Rubyvale/Sapphire in central Qld. Tim's adventures has a mining claim there, daily youtubes with good explanations. thank you from new sub.
The floating golden flecks are almost certainly mica, pyrite is quite dense and will not float. As far as differentiating topaz and zircons goes, specific gravity is the easiest way to be certain if you aren't experienced in visually identifying them.
@@itsadventureash it's all good. local knowledge can be the difference between finding good gems and finding none. you'll be able to find me at the north east tasmania lapidary club, if you do travel down south.
Hi Ash.. loved the video and I go to that area also, just go to Bunnings and have a look for a pointed shovel , and cut it down to size to fit in your car 😊
It depends where you are, a lot of Australian states have different rules so best to check. If you google “fossicking rules NSW” then head to government websites you should find everything you need to know :)

That’s great to hear! I hope you find something good :)
River Nerds 🤣. This is something I've been meaning to do for a while but haven't yet. Well done, congrats on the finds.
Thanks!
Good on ya getting out there and having a go👍
Looking good, keep up the great work and good luck on finding that big one🤞
Thanks Deano, much appreciated! We all have to start somewhere :)
I like the way you explain things out. Thank you.
You’re very welcome!
Only just came across your channel and video. Good on you for getting out and giving the video a go.
Great video and content. Keep going mate😊👍🏻
Thanks! Many more adventures to come 🙂

Glad you enjoyed it!
Me too!! Sooo many trips back to the car to check it is locked.
Honestly don’t think I’ll ever stop checking 😂
This was a fun trip. I'm glad you found some nice stones!
Thanks!

That’s super interesting! The area was all gravel roads so I don’t know if that affects it but great insight to think about
Lady gold floats. That's why we add dish soap to break the water tension and prevent the gold from floating.

Thats so cool! How amazing is it to get out and find them yourself :)
You need a small shovel and a hessian bag to tip your second pan on so you can check your contents from second pan Love it up at Glen Innes
Oooh that’s a good idea! Thanks 🙂
Thank you for sharing ash, you mention on your video how to find locations to find crystals. Where is the best place for me to search
My best advice is google the area you’re interested in followed by fossicking and see what you find!

Thanks for the tip!
Enjoy
Thanks!
sometimes gold does float very fine gold they are very hydrophobic especially in a pan when your cleaning all the other materials off it
Oh wow! Thanks for that tip - is there another good way to tell between pyrite and gold other than the float test?
The floating golden flecks are almost certainly mica, pyrite is quite dense and will not float.
As far as differentiating topaz and zircons goes, specific gravity is the easiest way to be certain if you aren't experienced in visually identifying them.
Thanks for the info!
amazing shoots whats your camera set up
In this one I switch between my Canon 200D on a tripod and my GoPro Hero 8 :)
Interesting channel.

Have been to bingara
I need to check that area out 🙂
You look for the gravel around the biggest rocks.
Oooh thanks for the tip!
Gold will float
You need a small camp shovel to dig with forbtter results.
I definitely agree with that haha
Did you go to university to learn this interesting forsaking adventure
I did study Enviro Science at uni yes! But fossicking is a hobby that uses the knowledge I got at uni and some self learning too :)
if you ever come to tassie gemming.
i'll take you out for a dig.
Thanks, thats so kind of you!

Gold is hydrophobic and can actually float, flood gold though
You realy needed a bigger scoop!
I saw a young bloke from Glenn Innes area actually scoop into the sieve in the water. I am trying to find his videos for you to check out.
The name is Simply Fossicking. Good luck next time also.
Thanks Elaine!

Inverell has blue sapphires not far from Glen Innes.
Thats hopefully going to be an adventure soon!
