K2 Kwicker compatible with Clicker, are they compatible yes or no?

  • This video proves that the new K2 Kwicker boots fit the old skool Clicker bindings. There is a lot of debate on the web if the new Kwicker boots from K2 still fit the previous Clicker bindings. This video proves that it is downwards compatible, no doubt!

    Yes! Thank you! I've been riding my K2 Clickers for 20 years... the boots are starting to get bad... so glad I can finally get new boots, as the bindings themselves are "forever" (so simple / well crafted)!

    I've kept my Clicker bindings hidden in the closet for almost 20 years, waiting in the hope their day would come again and I could find new boots, and it appears they have!
    Thanks man!

    I’m still riding old clicker boots/bindings. Every time I’m on the hill I get questions about them. Glad to know the newer gear is compatible as my boots are showing their age.
    I love the clicker system because I have a bad back and bending over isn’t comfortable. With the clicker I only have to bend over for a short moment at then end of the run to release my back foot.

    this is awesome. i'm actually still riding on my old clicker boots. the sole separated from the boot, so I rubber cemented it back together and just kept riding. my wife makes fun of how old and worn they look, but I love the K2 clicker step-in system. So glad I can buy new boots.

      I can recommend the new boots. So much comfier than the old ones. I still love the Clickers too. That confusing and secretly admiring look from mainly youngsters when you simply click in and disappear into the dale while they are with their bums in the snow locking their bindings, priceless!

      @Groosome128 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did the same :) I actually inadvertently wore through stitching on ratchet the strap on the boot and got another pair on ebay. Since they're old the glue failed and I repaired once with Sika TechGrip glue but that failed at the end of the season :/ Last run of the day though so perfect timing :)
      Now to work out if I can source a pair of the new boots for my K2 Magma clickers from ~2003 or if your rubber cement idea is any better than the urethane glue I mentioned. Trouble is not all glues are flexible and survive the cold.

    • @jeandeaux2129
      @jeandeaux2129 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may be vy dangerous to do this. If the glue fails at speed, the other foot will remain anchored creating all types of injury possibilities. Fortunately for me, my sole separated on the lead foot (Shimano boots) as I came off the chair. However, i admire ur DIY spirit!

    Wow! Thx. I took my old boots from the attic and tried them on and they were so hard and uncomfortable. I’m glad I know I can go out and get some new boots now I know what I’m doing this weekend lol I always love these clickers I think I got them the first year they came out when I was in college. People ask me all the time about him because nobody had them. I definitely rang up my credit card bill lol.

    Word of advice...test yours before heading to the mountain. Not all combinations of new and old work together. My new Arrow boots fit one of my original pairs of Clickers with several attempts to click in, but won’t click in at all on another old set on a different board I have. Alternatively, my old Clicker boots do not click into my new Kwicker bindings at all.

    • @michelp1398
      @michelp1398  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Charlyene, thanks for the heads up. That really sucks! Since I have not got a set of Kwicker bindings I cannot tell what differs from the old skool Clicker bindings. Perhaps new boots fit the old Clickers, but not the other way around, New kwickers bindings and older Clicker boots. I would touch base with K2 for some support if I was was you. I still hope you have been able to attack the slopes : )

      I just purchased a new pair of the Boundary boots, and they are going to work with my binds, however they are going to need slight modifications to make them work. I am going to have to flip my binds due to the release tab being on the opposite side on my boots, and I may potentially need to shave a bit of metal off the heel hook on my boots in order to make the clip on the binds grab the boot properly.

    Here's a 2022/23 update of this question:
    Will the latest versions (2020/21 and later) of the K2 Clicker boots work the the older (~pre 2013) K2/Shimano Clicker/Kwicker bindings? K2 officially says "No.", but has anyone tried this?
    There are some hints online that K2 Clicker X HB boots can be slightly modified - removing some of the material at the bottom of the boot? - to be compatible with the older/original bindings.

    • @goodpools
      @goodpools ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish we knew!! As far as what K2 tells us, it’s actually not black and white. Their comparability notice only mentions that “Clicker C HB bindings are only compatible with Clicker X HB boots.” It doesn’t say the same for vise versa, I think they are hinting at the fact that the newer X HB Clicker boots are compatible with the older Clicker/Shimano bindings. However, I did read a comment of someone who bought one of the newer “2x BOA” K2 Clicker boot (they never said which model exactly) and that this boot wasn’t compatible with the older binding and needed to be modified.

      I just went to the local ski shop to have my board sharpened. I went to the snowboarding department and he happen to have a newer pair of K2 compass clickers, and he was like I don’t think they’re going to fit and sure enough they fit perfectly. Obviously I haven’t been able to try them on a mountain, but they fit in the store. I didn’t buy those. I’m still looking to see what I want to get, but just letting you know it does seem like the newer ones fit.

    Has anyone tried any of the new Clicker X HB boots on the old Shimano bindings? Like the K2 Kinsley or K2 Boundary (both of these clicker boots are on sale). I read a comment on this video saying that one of the newer 2x BOA Clicker boot needed to be modified in order to run on the older Shimano binding…

    I do own a pair of the original clicker bindings. Kept them since the 2000's until now and finally got a hand on some Kwicker double boa (coiler) boots. Unfortunately they do not fit the old/original K2 clicker bindings. The heel metal part on the boot has a slight chamfer that interferes with the bindings. Such a pity!
