for the question at 6:25 I think the answer is 8 which is not in the choices. my formula is b(a+c) = d, where a = right vertex, b= center, c = left vertex and d= top vertex. it applies to the first two triangle and when applied to the 3rd one it looks like this. 8(5+c)=104, which gives c = 8. therefore the answer is 8.

For John's spending, I find it easier to get percentage of what john hasn't spent on and then directly multiply to get the final answer in dollars. This is easier than calculating with dollars from the beginning. utilities is 40%, heating is 15% higher than utilities. So multiply 40% x 1.15 and you'd get the percentage for heating directly (or alternatively 40% + 0.15 x 40% = 40% + 6%= 46%). utilities - 40%, heating 46%. So together it adds upto 86%. That means he spends 14% on things other than Utilities or heating (100-86). now, $1500 x0.14= $210.

A mental math trick for multiplying by 1.15 is to first multiply by 10 and then add half of that and then divide by 100. So, for 600 x 1.15...do 600 x 10 = 6000 then add half of that which makes it 9000...then divide by 100 which is 90 so answer is $690 for electricity and heating.
yes, as per pattern addition of the first operand numbers multiplied by 2nd operand gives the answer, but 4th expression should 27, options don't have it
for the question in 7:44, on the left side of the triangle from bottom to top, we got (8, 4, 3), on the right side from bottom to top, we got (2, 6, ?), so, bottom 8 and 2, middle 4 and 6, top 3 and ?... the logic: bottom sum 8 + 2 = 10, middle sum 4 + 6 = 10, so the top sum will also result in 10, ... the solution (3 + ? = 10) -> (? = 10 - 3) -> (? = 7)
Wow i reached the same conclusion but used a different method. right (8, 4, 3) left (2, 6, ?). the right side is decreasing and left side is increasing by the same amount, first 4 then 1. right side (8 - 4 = 4) (4 - 1 = 3), left side (2 + 4 = 6)(6 + 1 = 7) so the answer is 7.
5:15 John Spent $210 on Other (Util = 1500 * 40% = 600, Heat&Elec = 600 + 15% of 600 = 690, Other Spent = 1500 - (600 + 690 = 1290) = $210 which is the answer.

It’s a poorly worded question because heating and electricity are utilities, so you could take this as a trick question, but the choices lead you to know it’s a poorly worded question with no intent of trickery just stupidity
John's total expenditure is $1500, outof which utilities is 40% means 1500*40/100=600 and Heat & electricity is 15% more than Utility bills i.e 600*15/100=90 and total Heat & electricity is 690, so expenditure on Utility & heat & electricity are 600+690=1290, so other expediture is 1500-1290=$210
19:00 Using velocity = distance / time (ie. v = d / t) How long(t) will Olivia walk to ensure that her distance-covered equals distance-covered of Kiara?🤔 We can also say: "how long(t) will both of them walk till their distance-covered become equal?" The preceding statement reduces the unknowns to one variable, and this is 't'. 🤔 ? See below: distance-covered of olivia = distance-covered of kiara ie. vt - 4 = v * t (where 'vt - 4' is from 8 = (d + 4) / t) 8t - 4 = 5t 3t = 4 t = 4 / 3 t = 1.33333333 hrs convert to minutes, you get appr. 80minutes. So, they both have to walk for 80 minutes to be at same position

Total spending = $1500 while 40% of it for utilities = 0.4 * $1500 = $600 and cost of heating and electricity is 15% higher than cost of utilities = $600 * 1.15 = $690 therefore the cost of other spending other than heating, electricity, and utilities = $1500 - $600 - $690 = $1500 - $1290 = $210
John total monthly spending is $1500. 40% is utilities. ( 40% is $600 ) 15% more in heating and electricity then utilities . ( 15% of 600 is 90 ) remaining spend is = $1500 - $600 - $690 = $210
Regarding the question if speeds is simpler. Subtract one speed from the other. 8-5=3 mph (relative speed) The problem is equivalent as one stoped and the other walking at 3mph. This new equivalent problem demands the time when they met. So speed is displacement over time. Displacement is 4 and speed is 3. So the time is 4/3 of hour that is 80 mins.
@@crystalsports1331 Basic physics. If I want to solve the problem of speeds you must first find the relative speed between the two persons. This is done by subtracting the speeds. 8-5=3. So 3 is the relative speed. Then the problem becomes simpler. You will assume the person is 4 units of length ahead of you and still because you are moving in relation to her at 3mph. The definition of speed is displacement over time. So time is displacement over speed. This gives the value 4/3 that is the time. When converting to mins we will get 80 mins.
Thank you for sharing this video. It’s very insightful. I have an observation :Question at 30:35 minutes has a typo. The left bottom number of the 3rd triangle should be 3
13:29 Again, another error? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong?🙏🏾 The pattern is clear; Add the first two digits(xx), then multiply(*) by the single digit; (1+8) x 3 = 27 (1+2) x 4 = 12 (2+2) x 8 = 32 Therefore, the answer ideally should be: (1+2) x 9 = 27 🤷🏽♂️ , not 36

The question for 22:42 18 * 3 = 27 12 * 4 = 12 22 * 8 = 32 12 * 9 = ? ( it should be 13 not 12 ) Answer for 12 * 9 = 27 Answer for 13 * 9 = 36 But all good! You are still Awesome!
@19:00 When Olivia will catch up, Kiara and Oliva will have walked the same time t. 1- For Kiara, t = d/5 where d is the distance she will walk until Olivia catches up => d = 5t 2- For Olivia, t = (d+4) / 8 since she started 4 miles behind. => 8 t = d+4 => d = 8t - 4. from 1 and 2 : 5t = 8t -4 => t = 4/3 in hours thus (60*4)/3 = 80 minutes.
7:45 The right (8, 4, 3) left (2, 6, ?). the right side is decreasing and left side is increasing by the same amount, first 4 then 1. right side (8 - 4 = 4) (4 - 1 = 3), left side (2 + 4 = 6)(6 + 1 = 7) so the answer is 7.
the correct anwer will be 10, because for the right side we make {3+1=4} and 3+4 = 7 and 7+1=8 for the other side we make 2+4=6 and which mean that we add 4 only and after that we make 6+4= 10
At 20:20 you can simplify this, does not matter how far Kiara walks, what matters is Olivia walks 3mph faster than Kiara and needs to catchup 4 miles so you know that is 4/3 hours which is 80 mins

For the question at 6:25, If the answer should be from the given options then it should be option B) 10 and instead of '5' in 3rd triangle it should be '3'. => (3*8) + (8*x) = 104 => 24 + 8x = 104 => x = (104 - 24)/8 => x = 80/8 => x = 10 Or if the numberings are correct in the 3rd triangle, then the options are not correct and there should be '8'. => (5*8) + (8*x) = 104 => 40 + 8x = 104 => x = (104 - 40)/8 => x = 64/8 => x = 8
The answer to question at 6:25 is 8 not 10. Though 8 is not one of the choices. In answering the question, you had used 3 as the number at the bottom of the triangle instead of 5.
For the question at 32:49, I find it easier using BODMAS avoids confusion in the PEMDAS as division comes first. PEMDAS works in the first step if we use the left to right rule
PEDMAS is a new term for us Indians who went to school in 90s. We have been taught BODMAS (B= Brackets, O = Orders ie powers, indices or roots, D: Division, M: Multiplication, A: Addition, S: Subtraction.
At 17:50 it would be simpler to calculate total rent by taking the increase of 260 multiplying by 4 to give the increase for remaining students and multiplying by original students i.e. 260*4*5 = 5200, no need to do all those steps
- Jone spend on thing other than heating, electricity and utilities is $210 it calculated by his spending on utilities (40%*1500= 600) / his spending on heating & electricity (600*15%=90+600=690) finally 1500-(690+600)= 210
5:31 John's total monthly spending is $1500. 40% of his spending goes towards utilities: Utilities = 40% of $1500 = $600 The amount he spends on heating and electricity is 15% higher than what he spends on utilities: Heating and Electricity = $600 + 15% of $600 = $600 + $90 = $690 To find the amount John spends on things other than heating, electricity, and utilities, we subtract the amounts spent on utilities and heating/electricity from his total spending: Other Expenses = Total Spending - Utilities - Heating and Electricity = $1500 - $600 - $690 = $210 Therefore, John spends $210 on things other than heating, electricity, and utilities.
2:09 Technically, it is 174% not 274%. Does it matter? Yes, especially when you are computing financial data. 218 is the increase "by" --174% 343 is the increase "to" --274% It is grammar, and is widely known in the industry. Please correct me.
0.4 for utilities, for heating and Electricty 0.15 of 0.4 = 0.06 +0.4=0.46, 0.46+0.4=0.86, What John spends on other things 1.00 - 0.86= 0.14 of 1500 = 210
for the pyramid problem we can solve it in 3ways 1st one is sum of left side numbers should be equal to right side which replace ? with 7 and 2nd way is some of opposite side of triangle should be equal like 8 from left and 2 from right their some is 10 and 4 from left and 6 from right the sum is 10 and it leaves us with 3 from left and ? from right which gives us 7. sorry guys if im wrong.
For John, 40% expenditure in utility is 40/100 * 1500 = 600. He spends on heating and electricity 15% more than utility which is 115/100 * 600 = 690. The remaining is 1500 - (600 +690) = 210
The problem in majority question I take about a minute or 30-50 sec, and the test requires 18 sec on average for each question. Rare questions I finish before the average 18 sec to give me time for the other questions

The maths questions dont need to be answer exactly as implied on 2:02 and 4:33. You dont have the time for that. In this case you just need to know that 343/125 is a number that begins by 2XX (since 125 only divides into 343 two times) then you can discard all other answers. Same as 33 x 5. Tha correct answer is a number that ends with a XX5 (only 1 answers is a number ending in 5, which is 165). Usually, math questions with such little time require a quick calculation that aims at a single correct option, without knowing all the digits of the operation or the exact result.

13:30 The answer should be 27 The idea is to add the first two digits, then multiply the sum by the second operand (part) so 1+8 = 9, 9 * 3 = 27; 1 + 2 = 3, 3 * 4 = 12; 2 + 2 = 4, 4 * 8 = 32; lastly 1 + 2 = 3, 3 * 9 = 27 just like the first line.. which doesn't exist between the answers and not 36 as you chose... Else please elaborate further. Why confuse us with wrong answers?

@@goodvibes4351 8 is actually the correct answer for the triangles question. He mistakenly used 3 for the bottom calculation instead of the 5 that is written there.
Surely for a word scramble there should only be one possible answer? You stated BOWL was correct, but BLOW is also a valid answer. Should have a better example...
John's question could be interpreted wrongly as one spending is 15% more percentage wise than 40% meaning 55%, making all his expenses 95%, however, it should be 40 * 1.15 = 46%, nice and tricky question! The answer is A, 210 USD.
5:20 answer is wrong. John's total monthly spending is $I500 of 40% of his spendings goes towards utilities. And the amount that he spends on heating and electricity is 15% higher than what he spends on utilities. Answer is => 1. Total Monthly Spending: $1500 2. Utilities Spending: $1500 * 0.40 = $600 3. Additional Spending on Heating and Electricity: 15% * $600 = $90 4. Total Spending on Heating and Electricity: $600 + $90 = $690
at 7.19 the explaination doesn't seem correct. the number on the triangle at the bottom right is 5 and not 3.... the answer of the missing number should be 8 and not 10. (5+8)*8=104
The question that you used PEMDAS for, we were taught in my country to use BODMAS which means Bracket, Of, Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction. If I use that, the answer would be 3

The question about John's spending at 5:24 is a red herring. At least in the US, heating and electricity are considered utilities so the question makes no sense.
Your answer 274.4% is the total percentage and not the increase 174.4% is the correct, because we have to find the percent increase Percentage Increase = ((New Volume - Original Volume) / Original Volume) * 100 = ((343 - 125) / 125) * 100 = (218 / 125) * 100 = 174.4%.

I really appreciate you producing this video for people to use as practice for the CCAT test, however, two of the questions you provide have errors in the question, that you then correct when you show how to solve them. I found it very frustrating to find it impossible to solve these two problems when I paused the video. I'm certain it isn't your intent to cause frustration for people, quite the opposite, of course. But this lack of attention to detail in ensuring the problems you present are accurate and solvable is not great. I didn't give the video a thumbs down, but I was tempted to.

It’s a poorly worded question because heating and electricity are utilities, so you could take this as a trick question, but the choices lead you to know it’s a poorly worded question with no intent of trickery just stupidity
For question 11:38
KIARA_Speed = 5
OLIVIA_Speed = 8
t= time
olivia_s*t=kiara_s *t+4
8t=5t+4
3t=4
4/3
so answer is 4/3*60min = 80 mins
Right I am come up with the same answer.
John's total expenditure is $1500, outof which utilities is 40% means 1500*40/100=600 and Heat & electricity is 15% more than Utility bills i.e 600*15/100=90 and total Heat & electricity is 690, so expenditure on Utility & heat & electricity are 600+690=1290, so other expediture is 1500-1290=$210
thank you. I understood this method better.
19:00
Using velocity = distance / time (ie. v = d / t)
How long(t) will Olivia walk to ensure that her distance-covered equals distance-covered of Kiara?🤔
We can also say: "how long(t) will both of them walk till their distance-covered become equal?"
The preceding statement reduces the unknowns to one variable, and this is 't'. 🤔 ?
See below:
distance-covered of olivia = distance-covered of kiara
ie.
vt - 4 = v * t (where 'vt - 4' is from 8 = (d + 4) / t)
8t - 4 = 5t
3t = 4
t = 4 / 3
t = 1.33333333 hrs
convert to minutes, you get appr.

( 40% is $600 )
15% more in heating and electricity then utilities . ( 15% of 600 is 90 )
remaining spend is = $1500 - $600 - $690 = $210
Awesome job! You got it!!!
i believe there's an error on 7:29. The image has the numbers 104, 8, and 5 on the triangle, while the solution has the number 3 instead of 5.
I noticed the same thing. Where did the 3 come from....it should be 5
if you take that missing number as "x" 5*8 + 8*x = 104...... x = 8...........Answer is 8
yess , i noticed the same thing , the answer is 8
I think so, the procedure is correct but the used number, 3, is wrong.
i was looking for this comment.
Regarding the question if speeds is simpler.
Subtract one speed from the other.
8-5=3 mph (relative speed)
The problem is equivalent as one stoped and the other walking at 3mph. This new equivalent problem demands the time when they met.
So speed is displacement over time.
Displacement is 4 and speed is 3. So the time is 4/3 of hour that is 80 mins.
I honestly do not understand anything you said
@@crystalsports1331 Basic physics.
@@dfcastro why you choose 4 as displacement?
@@mel4361 because she is 4 miles behind the one girl walking at 5mph
@@mel4361 I think it's actually distance speed = (distance/time). time = (distance)/(speed) distance apart is 4 and speed difference is 3 so 4/3

13:29 Again, another error? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong?🙏🏾
The pattern is clear;
Add the first two digits(xx), then multiply(*) by the single digit;
(1+8) x 3 = 27
(1+2) x 4 = 12
(2+2) x 8 = 32
Therefore, the answer ideally should be:

18 * 3 = 27
12 * 4 = 12

Almost brake my brain here.
at 1:46 the cube question New Volume = 343, Old Volume 125. Change in volume = 218. Percentage increase should be = 218/125 x 100 = 174.4% ?
Yup, that is correct!
@19:00
When Olivia will catch up, Kiara and Oliva will have walked the same time t.
1- For Kiara, t = d/5 where d is the distance she will walk until Olivia catches up => d = 5t
2- For Olivia, t = (d+4) / 8 since she started 4 miles behind. => 8 t = d+4 => d = 8t - 4.
from 1 and 2 : 5t = 8t -4 => t = 4/3 in hours thus (60*4)/3 = 80 minutes.
7:45 The right (8, 4, 3) left (2, 6, ?). the right side is decreasing and left side is increasing by the same amount, first 4 then 1. right side (8 - 4 = 4) (4 - 1 = 3), left side (2 + 4 = 6)(6 + 1 = 7) so the answer is 7.
the correct anwer will be 10, because for the right side we make {3+1=4} and 3+4 = 7 and 7+1=8 for the other side we make 2+4=6 and which mean that we add 4 only and after that we make 6+4= 10
In the exercise of calculate number 13*9=? Please correct the number at initial expresion because it says 12 instead of 13. Thank you
At 20:20 you can simplify this, does not matter how far Kiara walks, what matters is Olivia walks 3mph faster than Kiara and needs to catchup 4 miles so you know that is 4/3 hours which is 80 mins

I think that volume *change* percent (in Q2) is (343-125)/125 i.e. 174.4%
exactly it should be 174.4%
For the question at 6:25, If the answer should be from the given options then it should be option B) 10 and instead of '5' in 3rd triangle it should be '3'.
=> (3*8) + (8*x) = 104
=> 24 + 8x = 104
=> x = (104 - 24)/8
=> x = 80/8
=> x = 10
Or if the numberings are correct in the 3rd triangle, then the options are not correct and there should be '8'.
=> (5*8) + (8*x) = 104
=> 40 + 8x = 104
=> x = (104 - 40)/8
=> x = 64/8
=> x = 8
The answer to question at 6:25 is 8 not 10. Though 8 is not one of the choices. In answering the question, you had used 3 as the number at the bottom of the triangle instead of 5.
he f up there , totally. 8 is the answer 8+5 = 13 and 13 x 8 = 104

For the question at 32:49, I find it easier using BODMAS avoids confusion in the PEMDAS as division comes first. PEMDAS works in the first step if we use the left to right rule
17;53 : have another way : 260 for each , mean : 260x4 = 1040 for 1 person , total rent : 5x1040 =5200
PEDMAS is a new term for us Indians who went to school in 90s. We have been taught BODMAS (B= Brackets, O = Orders ie powers, indices or roots, D: Division, M: Multiplication, A: Addition, S: Subtraction.
Can anyone tell me about crossover tests??? Please
5:31
John's total monthly spending is $1500.
40% of his spending goes towards utilities:
Utilities = 40% of $1500 = $600
The amount he spends on heating and electricity is 15% higher than what he spends on utilities:
Heating and Electricity = $600 + 15% of $600
= $600 + $90
= $690
To find the amount John spends on things other than heating, electricity, and utilities, we subtract the amounts spent on utilities and heating/electricity from his total spending:
Other Expenses = Total Spending - Utilities - Heating and Electricity
= $1500 - $600 - $690
= $210
Therefore, John spends $210 on things other than heating, electricity, and utilities.
2:09 Technically, it is 174% not 274%. Does it matter? Yes, especially when you are computing financial data.
218 is the increase "by" --174%
343 is the increase "to" --274%
It is grammar, and is widely known in the industry.
At 7:29, you say the answer for the value on the triangle is 10, but should it not be 8 (which is not in the options). (5 + 8) x 8 = 104
For John, 40% expenditure in utility is 40/100 * 1500 = 600. He spends on heating and electricity 15% more than utility which is 115/100 * 600 = 690. The remaining is 1500 - (600 +690) = 210
For the second question, the left lower veritices on screen is 5 instead of 3
Third questins, figured out by sum of numbers which was consistently fast
Kiara time quesytion. T= D/S => (4+x)/8 = x/5, solving for x gives 6 and 2/3. Getting Time, T = (6 2/3)/5 = 1 and 1/3 hrs = 80 min
The problem in majority question I take about a minute or 30-50 sec, and the test requires 18 sec on average for each question. Rare questions I finish before the average 18 sec to give me time for the other questions
For the expresion 12/2 (3-1) there is a rule when 12/2 * 2 where 2/2 is equal to 1, so 12 is faster to be defined

13:30 The answer should be 27
The idea is to add the first two digits, then multiply the sum by the second operand (part)
so 1+8 = 9, 9 * 3 = 27;
1 + 2 = 3, 3 * 4 = 12;
2 + 2 = 4, 4 * 8 = 32;
lastly 1 + 2 = 3, 3 * 9 = 27 just like the first line.. which doesn't exist between the answers and not 36 as you chose...

No
The question about John's spending at 5:24 is a red herring. At least in the US, heating and electricity are considered utilities so the question makes no sense.
Your answer 274.4% is the total percentage and not the increase
174.4% is the correct, because we have to find the percent increase
Percentage Increase = ((New Volume - Original Volume) / Original Volume) * 100
= ((343 - 125) / 125) * 100
= (218 / 125) * 100
= 174.4%.

Can you calculate the missing number?
O8:21 Answer is 07...right sir?

So many typo mistakes on questions!!! Triangle writes 5 in the corner, but he calculates as 3. Question writes 12*9=? but the answer calculates 13*9= COME ON!!!
Question at 6:22 has wrong calculations. you are using 3 in place of 5

an alternative solution to the first word problem (around 12:00) is BLOW
Awesome job, Chris! You’re absolutely correct. All the best and your job and the hiring assessment test!
Correct Answer to Question at Vidio Duration 7:23 is 8 instead of 10 Besause if You Plus 5+10=15 and 104/15=6.94 Which is Not Correct
In triangle. 104/8=13, 13-5=8, so the answer should be 8 and it's not among the choices 🤦♀️

6:56 mark the answer is 8 since the bottom triangle number is 5
12:28 An alternate answer could be BLOW..right?
I really appreciate you producing this video for people to use as practice for the CCAT test, however, two of the questions you provide have errors in the question, that you then correct when you show how to solve them. I found it very frustrating to find it impossible to solve these two problems when I paused the video. I'm certain it isn't your intent to cause frustration for people, quite the opposite, of course. But this lack of attention to detail in ensuring the problems you present are accurate and solvable is not great. I didn't give the video a thumbs down, but I was tempted to. Please check your work more thoroughly in future.
@34:11 : M and D , so M first or D first ?
