Many thanks for these examples and tutorials. I am always embarrassed and worried about this type of test and my lack of aptitude in answering in assessments previously has been a constant worry. Thank you for at least allowing me to face the challenges and come with a gameplan. It is a really motivational and practical tutorial and I really appreciate your efforts.
q1: c, decreasing number of lines and position of lines q2: b, increasing by 2s, and shaded line alternates directions q3: c, small black square rotates clockwise, lines on 2 circles alternates directions
C, B, C. First one: one line less in vertical and horizontal. Last figure shows 7 and 7, so you're looking for the one with 6 and 6 (C). Second one: the ratio is 2:1 between the circles in the different pictures (figure 1 as 2, figure 3 has 4, figure 4 has 6). So you want one with two circles in. At this point, you notice that the pattern is always full and stripes. Last thing to notice is the direction of the stripes, which is always in alternation (B). Last one: the small square inside the figure always rotates of 90 degrees. The pattern inside the figures is in alternation (stripes up, stripes down), as well as the direction of the stripes inside the circle (right-left). So the answer is C. Am I correct?
Thank you! one of the only few materials (quickly available online in English) I found to study for these types of questions for the UN exams. Appreciated.

C: group changes in a pattern or sq; B: group changes in sq or patterns/rotation of objects/ , C: rotation of objects/Group changes in sq and patterns/application of rules
In the second example another rule also applies. In each consecutive square, second shape is something new that's not present in any of the previous squares. So, as per rule #1, correct answer has to be B or E. Then if you apply this third rule, result would be again B.
Thanks for this tutorial, although I'm still confused on the first example. I've written exams countless times and failed and you came in to lighten my heart. Thanks so much, I'll continue watching other tutorials to perfect in it. Let's go back to the given task, the answer is "C". From the pattern each line from horizontal to vertical consists of ten (10) lines and for each option a single line is removed from horizontal to vertical. Therefore, from the lines in the question, I'll say 'C' is the correct answer because, it is 6 lines vertical and horizontal. Question 2 is B Question 3 is C Thank you!
The video clears my worries and anxieties. Thanks for the tips. Q1: C (group changes in pattern) a reduction in 1 vertical and diagonal line as the sequence progressed. Q2: D (application of rules, rotation and movement of objects) the object increase in even number, shaded and black dots are even in each box but the shaded pattern alternate for the shaded dots. each box is started with shaded dot. Q3: C (singular change in sequence, the black square rotates anticlockwise, the shaded circle alternate patterns but the last pattern in one box is the same pattern in next box.
The answers are 1. C - 6 vertical lines and 6 horizontal lines 2. B - 2 circles (the non-black circle has lines downward from right to left) 3. C - two white circles on top, the black square in the left and two circles downward with first moving upwards from left to right and second moving downwards from left to right Correct me if I'm wrong, I have explanations

The Line pattern inside the Circle is going downward inside, outside, inside, outside, inside, OUTSIDE. The Circles with lines are placed as follows: up, down down up up DOWN
11:00 question 1 C. Each row and column becomes ones less. The answer should have 6 horizonal and 6 vertical lines. E is a faker as the 6 vertical lines are shifted right. 11:30 question 2 B. Each diagonal pattern alternates. Each one is either 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 dots 11:58 question 3 C. The black square rotates counter-clockwise each time. The circles with the daigonal pattern alternate twice before switching top/bottom
The rotation of the patterned ball is also different in question 2 and 3... That's why question 2 is D and not B . The same option was placed to confuse us.
Please in other videos, kindly put the answers at the end of the whole questions to enable us be sure we answered correctly. My answers are 1. C, there were group changes in pattern 2. B, there were singular changes in pattern and application of rules 3. C, there were application of rules, group changes and singular changes in pattern. Thanks
First, thank you for your video! It really helps with practicing. I had a question about the second practice exercise. My answer would have been D, because I thought the pattern for the first figure was 3-sides, 4-sides, 3-sides, 4-sides, etc. And then lastly, when you would apply the rule of the figure with the most sides shaded, this would also be true for D. Could you perhaps explain to me why this (D) is the wrong answer?
Late but look how the stripes are angled in question 2. They alternate through each picture, which is why it would be B, the stripes face left, following the pattern of the stripes facing towards the right and left alternating.

Thank you very much. It helped me a lot in quite easily profferring answers. My only concern is timing...kinda spent an average of 1.30mins on each, perhaps I'd improve as I practice more. C (6 verticle and 6 horizontal lines) as every following shape reduces 1 line each B (2 circles and the lines are towards left) and black circle C (Black Square is moving 180 degree and the lines are moving outward) Thank you.
For the answer at 7:24 What if I consider option E in the shapes because all the others have a triangle among their shapes hence E is correct because B doesn’t have a triangle in it
That's what I thought too. There are at least two different patterns, equally valid, that lead to a different outcome. And in fact, if you follow all the patterns, then you are left with no correct choice!!!!!
I agree. I picked E because the right triangle in every square is as constant/simple as you can get rule wise; the shaded shapes were inconsistent everywhere accept the edge count. Good question though.
Little doubt about example #2: Rule 2 is based on the observation that the element having more angles is shaded. Now, I could have found out a different "Rule 2*": In every figure we must have a small triangle. There is no reason to prefer rule 2 to rule 2*, it's just depending on which property we find out first. This is a problem, because solution B satisfies rule 2 but not rule 2*, the other way around solution A satisfies rule 2* but not rule 2. In conclusion, I can't figure out how I should give priority to a certain rule or to the other.
Because the 2* solution foregoes the rule where the final shape in the previous square becomes the first shape in the next square. I think. As a last resort, I'll prioritize the solution that incorporates the most number of rules that logically follow a sequence.
I thought the same thing, my rules were all of them need to have a small triangle in it, 2nd was the shaded shape never repeats, and that the last one is the first one in the next.
That's what I thought too. There are at least two different patterns, equally valid, that lead to a different outcome. And in fact, if you follow all the patterns, then you are left with no correct choice!!!!!

Wow the second sample question threw me off, and I was completely wrong. I used the following logic: - Each sequence always has at least one triangle, which leads to the answer being either A or E. - Shaded geometry is never repeated, which would lead the answer to be either B, D or E This means that E is the only one fulfilling both criteria. I completely missed the other patterns you pointed out, so for me E was the obvious choice in this case. Do you think it is common for selections A to E to have several answers that follow a pattern, but only one of them is the correct answer?
Hi, I believe the answer to the Dice question is answer A. The star is facing the front and has the circle at the top of the cube, the triangular shape will need to be positioned sideways pointing inwards.
@@CareerVidz Cant be A as A shows the two arrowheads pointing to the black star while the expanded example has the arrowheads pointing to the black square. While C shows the arrowheads pointing correctly to the square, it has the circle "next to" the square when it can only be opposite the square. I would agree that there is no correct answer available.
Question 1 C 10:59 Question 2 B 11:28 Question 3 C 11:35 Closing page pattern is B 1. so the rule is that the vertical and horizontal lines reduces by 1 proportionally. No rotation, no individual or group change, took me like 35 secs ngl 2. The sequence changes then the direction of the stripe patterned circle alternates. 3. Clockwise rotation then E was eliminated cos the stripe were facing same direction, but the stripe is always to the right side of the shaded square.

Hi, thanks for commenting... I sort of agree with you, but I can see why employers use this type of assessment during their selection process. For most, it will assess how well an applicant performs under pressure and also how competent their problem-solving skills are. I think the danger with this type of test is, some people are not good at them, yet they would make outstanding employees. As an employer myself, I would use this type of test as part of a wider selection criteria and not solely reply on the results. Cheers, Richard

Thank you very much. It helped me a lot in quite easily profferring answers. My only concern is timing...kinda spent an average of 1.30mins on each, perhaps I'd improve as I practice more. My answers are C(change of rules, that is the vertical and horizontal lines), B(change in patterns and direction of the checked objects) C(rotation of some sorts...pattern)
Hi Francis! Thank you for your comment and kind words!😊 All of your answers are correct! Excellent work😊

C (6 verticle and 6 horizontal lines) as every following shape reduces 1 line each
B (2 circles and the lines are towards left) and black circle
C (Black Square is moving 180 degree and the lines are moving outward)

Thank you so much 😀
This is amazing thank you so much Richard! Will start the test now for my application tomorrrow. Thanks a lot :)
You are a good man for providing this explanation! Thank you!
Question # 1 is "C" - 6 lines horizontal & 6 lines vertical should be left. Each figure one horiz and one vert lines are subtracting.
Little doubt about example #2:
Rule 2 is based on the observation that the element having more angles is shaded.
C, B, C Thank you this was helpful. I can't really reiterate the rules, but it helped me identify which different rules to look for.
Thank you very much. This is excellent. 1-C 2-B 3-C

if you have your test in a few months or weeks don’t worry, just practice and you’ll be alright

2B - Cada cuadrado tiene dos puntos menos, los puntos siguen un patrón negro - rayas diagonales, alternando derecha e izquierda.

This really helped me thsnk you so much it helped a lot.
The cube question in the beginning is wrong.. i think 🤔
its c
Wow the second sample question threw me off, and I was completely wrong. I used the following logic:
- Each sequence always has at least one triangle, which leads to the answer being either A or E.
- Shaded geometry is never repeated, which would lead the answer to be either B, D or E
This means that E is the only one fulfilling both criteria.
I completely missed the other patterns you pointed out, so for me E was the obvious choice in this case. Do you think it is common for selections A to E to have several answers that follow a pattern, but only one of them is the correct answer?
Q1: C
Q2: B
Q3: C
All three correct here, nice one! Be sure to check out our other Non-Verbal Reasoning Test Videos.
I am getting crazy with the opening DICE question. I made a real dice and there is no correct answer.
Hi, I believe the answer to the Dice question is answer A. The star is facing the front and has the circle at the top of the cube, the triangular shape will need to be positioned sideways pointing inwards.
@@CareerVidz
Cant be A as A shows the two arrowheads pointing to the black star while the expanded example has the arrowheads pointing to the black square.
While C shows the arrowheads pointing correctly to the square, it has the circle "next to" the square when it can only be opposite the square.
I would agree that there is no correct answer available.

Question 3 C 11:35
Closing page pattern is B
1. so the rule is that the vertical and horizontal lines reduces by 1 proportionally. No rotation, no individual or group change, took me like 35 secs ngl
2. The sequence changes then the direction of the stripe patterned circle alternates.
3. Clockwise rotation then E was eliminated cos the stripe were facing same direction, but the stripe is always to the right side of the shaded square.

See how this is working but I don’t understand how employers use these to figure out if you’re smart enough to work for them because this has nothing to do with the job that you’re gonna do so I guess it’s just confusing
CareerVidz I hear what you’re saying. American Express uses ALOT of these and tbh it jumbled my brain. Having said that I am an excellent problem solver and I know I can do the actual job. That’s where my frustration kicks in 😂
