I have an 04 sti and I did a muffler delete Car is stock minus iag block, and clutch NO TUNE. Still has cats and resonator but muffler delete with the stock sti tip( my mom asked why it was louder had to tell her I had a boost leak and that it was fixed now and the car is supposed to be this loud , plus the stock tip helps make it look unmodified) And let me tell you GOD DOES IT WAKE UP THE NOISE LEVEL. Don't let this video fool you. It may " sound quiet" on video but its actually a lot louder, like hear me down the street past 3500rpm loud. And if your going full throttle everyone knows( i drive my car in boston alot so the city walls just make it louder) And for me it does pop. When I downshift from 3rd gear say to 2nd gear heel toe at a stop light at around 6k rpm i get a pop and a bit of burble. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS IF YOU WANNA WAKE THE NOISE UP.
@@Lukas-ed4qy with the stock exhaust including muffler there was no pops, car was just too quiet and I aint like that , with the muffler delete I have gotten a baby flame and I'd get burble when applying light throttle high in the rpms like 5k. It was honestly perfect for me (Extra for more details on the car) As of right now though I've currently got a Crawford performance gymkhana exhaust on. AND THAT IS LOUD. Cold start is a little bit louder with the gymkhana then with the simple muffler delete, but having this exhaust vs the old muffler delete I think the gymkhana just adds a bit more presence it's loud when you want it to be and sorta quiet too but not really. It's a very raw and can be obnoxious, like shake the building obnoxious when cold but I think it just adds to the cars character. I ended up doing an invidia high flow cat and a gymkhana exhaust which gets rid of one of the cats. Car currently has a stage 2 tune with a vf 48 turbo and it pops and crackles and flames just from letting off the gas at high rpms and when you get the gear shift right the exhaust does a loud pop during the gear changes similar to the rally cars both while upshifting and downshifting, no need for a burble tune( not really good for your car anyway). loud like hear from half a mile to a mile away full throttle loud. Plus cruising at 2k rpm all you hear is turbo noises it's ADDICTING. I've just got a boomba bpv and I've been hoping to get a go pro to do driving videos, I had one of my friends make a video of me driving off and God is it loud but it's not too bad just driving normal, after about 3 week you get used to the sound and the car doesn't even sound loud anymore. But once you get into boost it's like a Honda going vtec after 4200rpm the exhaust just SCREAMS.( my car is still unequal length headers ) A good example is this my girlfriend can hear my car doing a 1st and 2nd gear pull on Newbury Street by the cartier store from the baseball field at the Boston common..... its loud but I think it's loudness simply compiments the cars personality. I hope this helps, and yes my neighbors hate me( minus their 13 year old son who is now a subaru fanatic) so I guess I'm kinda winning. Mb for the super long response man I just wanted you to get a good understanding of how loud and atleast what my experience has been having both exhausts. Hope it helps.
@@Nickoboss29 a muffler delete won't affect the performance in anyway shape or form that's on cars that are NA, and need backpressure. Since the wrx sti is turbo, the turbo already creates more than enough back pressure itself. It won't make the car faster or slower just louder. Which it was, if you watch some of my videos you can see just how loud too. 🙃
