- "Donkey Kong's been kidnapped and old Cranky Kong insists that Diddy collect a bunch of coins that say "DK" on them. These goals are sufficiently compatible that Diddy and Dixie decide to get a little bit sidetracked on their rescue plan.
This run abuses a lot of bugs with regard to motion and collision detection. Read the authors' submission ( tasvideos.org/2188S.html ) to learn more.
Note: this movie was recorded with a slightly modified snes9x. A soft reset feature was added to the movie file. A copy of this snes9x can be found in the authors' submission."
This tool-assisted speedrun, played by NxCy and Comicalflop, aims to obtain 102% completion in Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest as quickly as possible. It uses a number of tricks and glitches to achieve this.
This is a tool-assisted speedrun, played on an emulator with slowdown, frame-by-frame shooting, savestates and rerecords. It is NOT meant to show skill, but rather push the game to its limits, as it is PURELY a form of entertainment.
The publication of this run can be found here: tasvideos.org/1264M.html
The authors have given me permission to upload this run. It should NOT be uploaded without first getting their permission.

Love the fact that the whole play through is in one video. Beats searching for the individual parts. Thanks for uploading this.
What a run through Toxic Tower :o
You sir, are a beast. Just to have the presence of mind to string together what you do is incredibly impressive.
Best speed-run imo, he does the levels legitimately and even does the bonus levels. Well done, Sr. Unarmed Link.
I love TAS. Thanks for all these uploads. Saves me from downloading them myself! Although I have quite the TAS archive :P
thank you very much for posting this video! i was used to play this game with my friends when i was young, GOOD OLD MEMORIES

I have seen this around the time it first got completed. It blew me away.
Seriously this is beyond entertaining.
wow man I still cannot believe what I just watched. Brought back so many memories, I was like 9 or 10 years old when I was addicted to this game back in the 90's.
awesome run, glad you were able to use the camera scroll I found in Jungle Jinx :D
Great run and without question one of the best games ever made, had the big box version of this, sold it when i was young, boy do i regret it now
Incredible, awesome, outstanding.
My eyes saw but i can't believe. I lost many hours to finish this game when I was a kid. Great! Simply great.
This is really great. Thanks for the entertaining vid... Btw, loved the showing off parts. :D
DKC 2 ... I lost my cartridge back in the past, lord does this bring back memories ... Thx for uploading Swordless. :-)
i am 17 years old and i still remember playing this game when i was 5 years old. im my opinion, this is a prime example as to why video games where fantastic back in those days. compaired to the games we have now-a-days, this pretty much rocks!
This is just amazing!
A very big respect from gemany!
This is cold. never knew you beat DKC2 that fast
This game was perfect in almost everyway, and it has one of the most VIBRANT SNES soundtracks EVER!
My favorites being the Ships Hold, and the lava stages.
out of this whole speed run you mostly impressed me in ghostly grove for some reason.
That was freaking amazing, great job. Btw lol at how the player mimicked King Zing dying.
This is so beautiful I could cry. My childhood game ran though in just 1 hour and even finished ome stages we nerer could reach. Masterpeice! The ending is also very, VERY beauitful.
Instant fav because i'm currently unable to watch the whole thing!
These were the times where 2D JumpNRuns were still hard and frustrating at times!
You're incredible! I never knew about the hidden Bonus Stage in "Lockjaw's Locker".
WHOH! INCREDIBLE! It's like your not even human you go lightning quick!
K. Rool: Oh, no. They are TASing... xD
Seriously, this was one hell of a run for one of the best games of all times. Thank you very much for this!
Awesome run through! I can't believe I watched all that o.O
I like it how people are amazed over how skillfull this player would-be :P
Still one of the best TASes out there ^^
I haven't watched it all yet but from what I have, awesome job.
Watching the whole thing is awesome!
Im speechless,you sir are GODLIKE!!!
wow, this tas brought back so many memories, especially the lava world.
Really nice game I had alot of fun play this one! Nice run :D I always wondered now how fast can you make this game thx for uploading the TAS :)
So fucking funny to watch, i laughed more than once ^^ Must've been a lot of work making it, very good job!
i loved how u were toying with kruel
very impressive run :)
wow your a pro at games you can beat a level in like seconds proud of you dude
This guy is one with this game. He knows the rhythm like it were his own.
You are awesome. This is what I call speed walktrough.
I haven't even seen the video, but I'm already BLOWN AWAAAAYYYYYY
The graphics and the music on the DK Country games still impress me to this day. Wish I still had a SNES.
I remember how awesome it was to fly through these levels.
You've done in an hour, something that took me 2 years.
I just can't fucking express how much epicness is expressed by that kind of art
I love how in DKC2 there are exactly 3 levels of each archetype.
I'm glad most of my childhood can be made into a 1hr 30min video
seeing this again In now making me miss this old classic game, The classic games from SNES and Nintendo 64 are my main favourites
Although he is probably an expert player, this was tool assisted, meaning he can save and load anywhere in the game. This means that this probably took him longer than an hour and a half, due to retakes. It's great that he took the 5 hours (probably) to do this, though. Great job!
I NEVER knew about those ! rooms. Really nice job!
Epic speed run!
I did not know anything about those shortcut-barrels :O
I love TAS, they make this game look so easy when in fact it is definately not...
I just had a nostalgi trip, loved this game when i was a kid it was like around 10-13 years since i played this :)
years of memories rushing back
The falling levels are magnificent.
25:50 Black Ice Battle
52:56 Parrot Chute Panic
Holy *** on a *** sandwich with **** on top and a side helping of ****! That was fantastic! Great TAS!
this game never gets boring
DK2 was totally ahead of its time. I can only image the pride Rare had at making this, Goldeneye, Banjo and Perfect Dark. Hard to compete when Microsoft is offering the money, but god knows whatever Nintendo would have paid to keep Rare working on Nintendo titles would have been completely worth it.
spectacular playing so accurate !
I actually whatch this 1 hour 25 min nice job well done :)
OMG Spectacular Speedrun... even when you know that its TAS (some people think that its really easy make a TAS)...
DKC2 Its the best of the Trilogy... (Also love DKC n.n) Congrats... Epic Game... Epic Video
you owned both of the k.rools badass style
owning him and mocking him at once.
The SNES Donkey Kong series have definitely, the best sound effects and BGM's for that generation, in my opinion. :)
Unbelievable skill!
I grew up with this game :)
@xRocketzFighterx Yeah, making an optimised TAS with this length takes a very long time. There have been runs (My recently made The Minish Cap TAS for example) that was in the works for about a year.
I love how Dixie and Diddy taunt K. Rool in the last fight aganist him in the Lost worlds. K.rool's like "DAMMITT HOLD STILL!!!!
Top ten games ever made for gameplay, easy. This game and its music are pure magic.
A TAS is made with an emulator. Where you play the game frame by frame (60 frames/second in the case of this game) and use Save States. The idea of a TAS is to find out how fast you can beat a game in theory when everything is optimal. If the same input would be used on console, the same result is achieved.
You can find additional information on the website TASvideos, or just ask and I'll gladly answer.
i miss the good ol' days! i remember playing this as a child :)
The best donkey player EVER!!!!!nice job
This is by far the best franchise in the SNES and perhaps all of Nintendo.
This is my childhood, right here.
On 2010-10-03 this run was beat by over 50 seconds, check the authors submission for the link to the improved run.
Rare said this : 'our' DK is the son of Cranky, which does indeed make him the original DK Jr. all grown up: so if you see Cranky referred to as DK's granddad anywhere, just cover your eyes and hum loudly until it goes away.
NxCy is the greatest SNES kong player of all time! it's ridiculous really
This game had some of the best music one of my fav game soundtracks
You're simply the best!
this game was my childhood lol i love this game sooo much
@EagerSleeper They didn't restart the whole run that many times. It's the time they loaded one of their save states while recording the TAS. And those saves can be done anywhere they want to.
@200possum read this : Note: this movie was recorded with a slightly modified snes9x. A soft reset feature was added to the movie file. A copy of this snes9x can be found in the authors' submission."

The Kremlings that throw the hooks sound like they're saying, "Punk!" when you kill them. XD
1. That's one hell of a Squawks ride in Squarks's Shaft!
2. LOL @ Squitter bonus in Krockhead Klamber
3. O_O @ ceiling trick in Bramble Blast
4. Fiery Furnace's bonus = WHAT THE FUCK CAPS
5. Golden TNT in Castle Crusher!
6. Golden Seel in Clapper's Cavern too!
lol i miss this game so much
and this game bring me a lot of fun and struggle...
@NarfIarg Either Dixie always happened to be the active character when he needed to actually beat the level (for a DK coin for example) or her guitar solo is slightly shorter than Diddy's beatbox dance so he made sure he was dixie when he needed to beat the level.
You should know that this is a Tool Assisted Speedrun. If you follow the second link in the description you can find information on how the run was made and how the glitches and such were done.
The last several levels get really impressive.
Also, DK totally uppercutted K-Rool, Street Fighter-style! SHORYUKEN!
amazing game in its day, still looks amazing
0:46:21 I love how you do the exact same animation as King Zing Sting dying hahaha made me laugh.
I'm buying this on ebay to add to my collection. I don't want to track down all 3, and this is the best one at least from what I can remember. Love Diddy.
@MShepherd88 Nevermind my question, I just realized that my SELECT button is barely working on the SNES controller. I thought I remembered it being SELECT, but then it wasn't working until I pressed really hard. I guess for being 15 years old now, the controller is holding up pretty well for the most part :)
I still remember trying to wake up 6:30 in the morning as my dad will allow me to play snes from 7 to 12 every sat and sun. Along with street fighter 2 with my bro!
this man is the son of SNES
@SwordlessLink you are like a god when it comes to this game
Mesquissto, NxCy really is as skilled as he appears in the movie. Just check out his speedruns at his youtube page.
Baron: not sure if Arne is going to be able to work on it, but we do have plans to do the Any%.
@davidXcha My mistake. But doesn't change my statement anymore that this is the best speed-run should the person(s) who contributed to this TAS be reading these comments.
i know what a tas is...i'm just saying, even if he played it frame by frame, he's still really good for even taking on the endeavor of doing it really well and making it fun to watch at the same time.
Thanks for killing my childhood in an hour and 24 minutes. D:
This is the epitome of awesome
ahhh, this was the very first videogame i have ever played :) Brings back memories...
man, i just started watching this and i coudn't stop, then when i look at time it were 15 minutes o_o
240p, we meet again.
God the memories of this game. My SNES glitches totally when I start up this game now =( Only game that doesn't work after, what, 18 years in the basement? Hmm
Holy shit, the longest video on youtube xD
I always liked it when you had sound on your videos :(
Depending on the nature of the TAS, it can sometimes be boring and sometimes be incredibly fun to watch. It depends on the possibilities to entertain the viewers and how the TAS-maker exploits those.
