Donkey Kong's been kidnapped and old Cranky Kong insists that Diddy collect a bunch of coins that say "DK" on them. These goals are compatible enough that Diddy and Dixie decide to get a little bit sidetracked on their rescue plan.
This movie improves on its predecessor by 00:45.28 seconds, primarily by using a debug code to get 75 Kremkoins early, allowing for a faster route through the game. Reading the authors' comments ( tasvideos.org/3578S ) is recommended.

The sea background is the best part of it all
I remember playing DKC2 and DKC3 on the snes in my childhood and DK2 being my most favourite never gets dull or boring, i have played this over and over again.
I love all the enemies in the game, my favourite is those ghostly green coat monsters who have red glowing eyes and throws wooden boxes at you. And those hook guys look pretty cool.
And OMG the music in this game is amazing. My favourite music from this game must be that Forest Interlude and the level Web Woods with that misty mysterious fog, such a mysterious cozy beautiful level.
The game still holds up today and have aged really well. Probably my most favourite video games ever.

This game came out the year I graduated high school. Sadly, I never got a chance to experience it because at the time, my family had games for the computer (Cyberia 2, Robin Hood: Conquests of the Longbow, Heart of China, The Return to Zork and Quest For Glory 1 and 3) and I was more into those. This DOES look like fun though. Thanks for the upload.
Yeah, you should buy a snes and give this awesome game a play. I felt the same about Sega Genesis games I never grew up with them but they are still fun to play.

So around the 19:50 mark, Dixie is alone, having sacrificed Diddy previously to get to that bonus room... but then she exits it with Diddy? I heard no DK barrel opening so what was that? Unless you always get your partner back after bonuses and I forgot that?

The hard mode cheat was used. It removes all DK barrels, but you get your partner back at the start of every level and after the bonus rounds. I know the comment is a year old, but I hope it still helps.

What's causing some of the items / enemies to become that gold color? Is that a byproduct of a glitch, or intended?
Sometimes when theirs too many sprites on screen or you loaded the sprite too fast,the game doesn't have time to load the correct color pallet of whatever sprite so it loads in that weird gold pallet instead
It's the color palette for the gold coins I think. Probably just a loading error when there's too much stuff on screen. It happened in the DK1 TAS too.

To go to the secret world levels I think
it is in the description. you still need to do everything you would have needed to get them, but it skips a dialogue later on.
probably also to do the lost world in-line. he would have collected the last coin at the k. rool fight and have to return to world 6 to enter the last lost word level and the final_final boss fight
I don't get why taking those two specific banana bunch's in the very start of the game, while avoiding other bananas, caused a secret coin to appear. I mean how would a player know to do that in a organic play through. But great TAS!

Players aren't supposed to find it, but at that time (80's/90's), they used to put this kind of thing in game magazines and today we have the internet for it =).
It's a secret built in by the developers. It's only triggered when you follow these exact steps. You could only know about that if you read about it in some magazine back then. But once you know about it, it's not hard to pull off anymore and you'll get 75 Kremkoins at once.
these tas runs are nuts. i only wish they showed the controller so people interested can learn the strats.
Strats: Play game frame by frame and use a ton of rewinds till you get the perfect move.
Depending on the TAS, some of the inputs are impossible to do RTA.
What's the point of "find the token" bonus levels if you already got 75 Kremcoins from the secret in the first level?

This run uses a trick that is erroneously called in-game cheat to collect all 75 Kremkoins on Pirate Panic. Compare it to a Warp Barrel; when you want to beat the game fast, all the Warp Barrels are used as shortcuts, then why not the 75 Kremkoins trick? This trick made it possible to pay Klubba's Kiosks before I normally would, but the time spent to perform the trick surpassed the backtrack needed to pay him. Towards the percentage, the trick gives me nothing and since I want to achieve 102% of the game, I still have to collet all 75 Kremkoins the way it's meant to be collected. No advantage on Klubba, also not a single percent of the game given, so why use the trick then? The answer is a chat with Cranky at the end of the first K. Rool fight, it's too long and it can't be skipped, the trick made it possible to leave it outside the run.
tl;dr: because they need to face the 2nd form of the last boss first, in order to save time.

Not at all. He bashes you in the head with his cudgel just for not having enough money and you wanted revenge. I wish there was a way to fight him too. But it is satisfying beating that boss in World 3 that resembles him.

Can someone explain this game to me, How is it they got 102%, assuming it had to do with the coins, but they ignored letters, and other coins in the levels.
Only coins that really matters are the Bonus (the ones with a rhyno), the DK coins and basically goind through each level in the game.
Letters arent a collectable so you can skip them.
Sorry i speak spanish and just tried to explain in a language i dont speak too well xD

You can get 45 tokens for free with the cheat code at the beginning
@@thespecialone4664 That cheat at the beginning gives you 75 tokens, enough to access every level in the lost world. It's probably some kind of leftover debug function.
