Ebp em1 Is still my favorite car. It just pokes at you to rev it. With a cai the crossover was the best. Idk what happened. I turned 30 and suddenly fell back in love with hondas.

So glad I live in Texas. This year my 94 B16 Del Sol only has to do a safety inspection for $16 since it’s 25 years old. Must be a nightmare( carguy wise) in Cali.

I got a b18c1 gsr motor in my 96 civic ex. Rebuilt with p30 pistons, itr cams, and a skunk2 pro series intake manifold. Bar and ref. Fyi, obd2 is going to require ecu verification from dealer.

i totally get goin legit and getting bard. i did the same thing 10 years ago with my old 97 coupe. all my influences were telling me to go bigger and build it fast but i wanted a setup that didnt get me pulled over and even when i got pulled over for speeding they didnt see any red flags so i went on my merry way. daily drove that car for 5 years straight without any problems from smog.

Done there, done that. Been through all that state ref. Never going back. I dont have to worry about cops when I drive my car. Lost lots of time and money on that. Good luck!
i've bar'd a civic eg coupe with a jdm b16 gen2 it was easy, just make sure you have a cat,correct ecu, stock piping (might be an option because i had 2.5 inch piping and still passed. if you have any questions i can help you out

I have a b18c1 and a type r transmission it’s bar in CA I have stage 2 cams retainers aftermarket intake manifold throttle body intake and headers and it stills pass smog I just be sure to swap to a stock ecu

I'm very curious because I don't know anything about BAR. What's the difference between your B18C5 (which is USDM) and a B16A2 (USDM) for the BAR test? Also, will your brother's K swapped Civic pass BAR?
Michael Flare you can’t BAR a b18c5 because they weren’t sold to the general public while the b16a2 is the EM1 motor and they were sold more commonly BAR isn’t a test it’s more like a vin to the motor to make it legal
Michael Flare no his brother k swap will not pass bar. A b16 will be easier to bar because it came out of a civic si where the b18c5 did not. So all he would have to do is slap a b16 in and switch over all the emission parts to be Cali legal and he’ll be set

Joseph Miller yes and no. So, the motor has to be newer than the shell that it’s going in. For example, you can’t put a gsr motor from a 1995 integra into a 1999 integra shell and expect to bar it. And people don’t really bar B18c5 because it’s hard to find the stock usdm b18c5 ecu. EVERYTHING emission wise must be from the b18c5. It’s annoying, that’s why people often opt out for the simple b swap for their bar. In Cali, you’ll see a lot of B18 LS bar cars
Actually you can bar a b18c5 in any Honda as long as it’s all legit I have a bard b18c1 in my ej1 and my buddy has a jdm b20 in a ej2 which a lot of people don’t think you can bar jdm motors and especially b20 engines since they came in suv vehicles but it’s all bs you can do it.

Couldn't find one and getting the B16a2 bard is a lot easier since I literally have everything minus the ECU
So what exactly do you need as far as engine? Just needs to be a Usdm spec engine and same year or newer engine than the car?
I don't know how car guy's live in California....I can run a straight pipe, 200 shot of Nitrous. Or run a 2 foot pipe right out of the front bumper from the turbo and not have worry about being pulled over.
Steven Marzullo this. In Texas after 25 years they don’t care about anything other than safety( headlights, turn signals, etc) so you can do whatever after that.

@@JohanGavieres more than likely you can't, for the same reason B20 isn't possible. I've seen B20's get BAR'd just have to make everything else from an LS. I've had a K20a2 bar'd in my old EK hatch but i also had the RSX gas tank in in the back. The rear was cut out to support it. If you take all your question to state ref, they'll give you a list of what you need. Some swaps will be too much honestly.

Onedaft honda k swaps are the easiest on EK as opposed to EF or EG. K swaps are 100% bolt in for EKs
