Probably the only people who wouldn't understand is very young pokemon players, but given the fact that it is read and not oftentimes said, and the fact that pokemon is very simply written in japanese (making it fairly simple for japanese-learning individuals, i think the likelihood is relatively low, and if there were word combinations someone didn't understand, it's very likely they would encounter it in the real world, and the pun clicks for them. You should do a video of a tier list of all of your fakemon. It would be great to see what you like and dislike about your old designs, seeing if they still hold up. My favorite ones are Qayagus, Tofrug and Glashulimp
They also only put one image of it unlike the rest that have at least 2 in some form... so i think they only put it in BECAUSE of the joke to make yet another haha and aren't that serious. Which would be why the slugs only have one for each of their forms, they do include them more so, but still get that it's a bit of a stretch.
So one other thing you should probably mention, though it is very obscure and even I only learned about this recently. Apparently, male crocodiles are classified as "bulls", and female crocodiles are classified as "cows". This means that according to these classifications, the Sandile and Fuecoco lines can also be lumped into this new year classification. The Totodile line would also apply if it is strictly male (as male alligators are also called "bulls"), but not any female counterparts because the classification for them would be known as "sows". This also now brings into question as to whether the chinese zodiac inspiration for fire-type starters was actually broken by Fuecoco since, on this technicality, the year of the Oxen (which would also consist of bulls and bovines) could have its role filled by them, as opposed to filling in the role of a snake (as most others would have associated Fuecoco to be commonly referred to as).
That's mostly in English. Honestly the problem here is gothiya was used over tapu-bulu and boofalaunt if every pokemon that could be loosely justified to have a cow pun somewhere in its design was in the image we'd have a lot more pokemon
@@RemLasher77 yeah, we all did. It had to fit in somewhere, and the snake is sometimes replaced with a crocodile in eastern cultures so it made sense, but this might also work too
Tbh the whole Fire zodiac thing was already a stretch with Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil is a porcupine-echidna hybrid that evolves into a badger, how tf do you get "rat" out of that?
There was a cartoon in ussr "Just you wait/Ну погоди", whose characters are anthropomorphic animals. There's an episode taking place on the beach, and it features a pig wearing several bras, as pigs have a lot of nipples on their bellies. Gothitelle has always reminded me of that pig
Not Japanese, but I have been studying the language for a while and.......Japan is....notorious for their puns, mainly because of the layers that their language allows for it. The ability to read kanji differently depending on the context of a word or even sentence, as well as written puns vs verbal puns- Japanese is able to play 5D chess with their puns to such a degree, that I doubt a native speaker wouldn't have automatically gotten the joke with Gyoushi. I love discovering new insane puns and word play in Japanese, so this was definitely a fun new tidbit.

With the Gastrodon line; in japanese, sea slugs are ウミウシ (umiushi) which literally means "sea cow"
@SLUGM0S you seem to have great knowledge of them
Isn't Sneasel also included in the cat Pokemon in one of those zodiacs fanarts?
You should do a video of a tier list of all of your fakemon. It would be great to see what you like and dislike about your old designs, seeing if they still hold up. My favorite ones are Qayagus, Tofrug and Glashulimp
Tangentially related (maybe): Fearow is apparently a turkey.
Curse the ever present “lost in translation” puns! 😆
Nudibranch or Sea Slug in Japanese is Umi-ushi (ウミウシ) or Sea Cow
I always saw the gothitelle line as a counterpart to gardevoir
Goth would fit the dark type
Which is why we need a dark- psychic variant or evolution for the gothitelle line
Is it not? Unova copied ideas for older pokemon for around half the dex. Isn't even that farfetched of a theory
The only entity I’ve heard referred to as a sea cow is a manatee, never a slug
5:21 SONUVA BI-
.... He sold me on it. I didn't actually think it was possible, but the madman did it
Gogoat and Skiddo are the only goats aside from literal God.
i thought arceus was a llama?
Alakazam is baphomet, literally the goat
When I saw the reveal trailer for Scarlet and Violet for the first time, I thought Fuecoco was a snake.
@@rainpooper7088 well, it is classified as the fire mouse pokemon. Guess that was reason enough.
Reminder of the year of the tiger. They featured electabuzz in pokemon go
probably because of its pattern
There was a cartoon in ussr "Just you wait/Ну погоди", whose characters are anthropomorphic animals. There's an episode taking place on the beach, and it features a pig wearing several bras, as pigs have a lot of nipples on their bellies. Gothitelle has always reminded me of that pig
Ну прувет
"That's not all he's lost."
How now goth cow?
Not Japanese, but I have been studying the language for a while and.......Japan is....notorious for their puns, mainly because of the layers that their language allows for it. The ability to read kanji differently depending on the context of a word or even sentence, as well as written puns vs verbal puns- Japanese is able to play 5D chess with their puns to such a degree, that I doubt a native speaker wouldn't have automatically gotten the joke with Gyoushi. I love discovering new insane puns and word play in Japanese, so this was definitely a fun new tidbit.
The bullseye comments blew my mind! That’s such a great observation I love it.
Hey Lockstin. Not sure how but this is in your Sinnoh playlist lol
I dont think I like where this is going... but I'm morbidly intrigued...
Cant remember if you mentioned this but arent nudibranchs like gastrodon called umiushi in japanese? Like sea-cow?
Really nice video!
0:17: *tapu bulu crying in corner*
Why the dude in this video look like he doesn’t understand that Johnny Bravo is a cartoon
So is Gothita an utter?
I mean, it’s right there in the Japanese name: the cow goes “muuuu”
wait so maybe there are similar, albeit likely less intricate reasons behind Trubbish being included with cats..
Future bio teacher ready to jump on Lockstin saying ‘cow Pokémon’ instead of ‘cattle/ox Pokémon’ when referring to either gender, watches for 3 seconds - touché
Tbf, Lockstin definitely does his research, but today I woke up and chose pedantry 😁
At least the hex maniac milk thing makes some sense now.
2:07
My brain: SAMS hyperfixation goes brrr
the bows also look like little horns.
"Babies are typically fixated on surviving" so why are toddlers so determined to self delete?
Rationality is a curse and toddlers instinctively know it
5:05 captain Ginyu is just Captain Milk 💀
Yes
Is this why in poke-rogue it got milk drink
Honestly, you don't even need to get into the puns. The fact that it looks like a baby bottle is enough to get why it's there. The other stuff definitely adds a lot, though.
Gastrodon I could understand somewhat. I mean, it has those horns on it that are at least RESEMBLANT of a cow.
Are you obsessed? Because so am I.
good pronunciation man
Literally came to the channel to see if the Massive Mammary Milkers thumbnail was still there just to see he posted ANOTHER VIDEO 😭😭
Thank Arceus
5:43 I’m with, I’m following… and I love it 😂
The head-tentacles on a slug are also called "horns", like a cow.
