The fact that not only did he do all of this for his daughter, but he also took photos of every store he went to with formula and posted it online for other people shows you what an amazing samaritan this father is.
As someone who works for a grocery chain, I can’t begin to tell you how much this situation sucks, I hate it. I get calls everyday for formula, people coming in just like this man looking for formula, it’s really hard to have to tell people we have nothing and we don’t know when we’re getting it in. So my heart goes out to people, its really, really bad.
Thank God my kid is 1 now. He was also 3 months premature and only took neosure. Even last year, some stores would constantly run out of stock. Getting this exact formula was always difficult, but the past few months it's been awful and had to change up the formula several times due to the shortage. For those saying buy online, you can't for this, it shows out of stock everywhere.
As a mother of a preemie baby, I also empathize with y’all. We had our child in 2017 and I couldn’t imagine having my infant hospitalized for months during Covid and struggling to find NeoSure. If it was tough back then, I can’t even imagine what the NICU is right now. As a mom, you can’t pump exclusively and expect to produce the same amount of milk as a mother who physically feeds her baby. That pretty much broke me whenever I couldn’t catch up with my daughter’s needs. And having no other choice seeing that the formula is next to gone, I don’t know what I’d do. The parents should check in with their local WIC clinics. That’s where I got mine because in my local grocery stores NeoSure wasn’t sold there only the blue Similac. I think they should be able to buy the formula there.
I don't have kids so I don't know how that feels, but that must be very heartbreaking to not know when you'll be able to feed your kid next time. That's absolutely disgusting and it shouldn't be like that. That should never happen
And four cans of formula is nothing. I know that sounds like he's lucky to have those 4, but the amount of formula a baby consumes is crazy. He'll be out searching for more in another week. This is sad and heartbreaking to see.
This is a great father man, his daughter sure is lucky to have him as a super dad of her own. The story of how her dad had to go this far for formula, oh man he’ll have this to tell her when she’s grown up.
I had a similar problem in Canada last year before the shortage. My son is extremely allergic to milk along with many other horrible allergies. So after all the trial and errors. The only one that he could digest was a hypoallergenic similac altumatium. We always had a hard time keeping up. Every store in our city would go out of stock right around the same time. This is the best time to pushing for more help and better education to promote breastfeeding! It's the best thing you could ever do for your baby and safer than canned formula, especially for one who's born premature. I know way too many women who just quickly and easily give up if the become frustrated. That makes me angry that more tax payer funding is tagged for ridiculous programs but it seems like many areas still don't have much help for new moms and breastfeeding.

There's got to be a better metric than mileage to show what this Dad did for his kid. A thousand miles really isn't much. It's the way he drove it, how many stops he had to make, the fact that he was never able to cruise comfortably for long stretches on the freeway, and the fact that he was cris-crossing all over the place, that's what made his journey really amazing

It's good to know he got the formula he needed, but calling certain stores to find out in advance whether or not the stores had the formulas in stock he needed would've been a better idea. This is the best time to pushing for more help and better education to promote breastfeeding! It's the best thing you could ever do for your baby and safer than canned formula, especially for one who's born premature. I know for some there can be difficulties but with some proper education, help and patience, most issues can be alleviated. I know way too many women who just quickly and easily give up if the become frustrated. That makes me angry that more tax payer funding is tagged for ridiculous programs but it seems like many areas still don't have much help for new moms and breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding probably wouldn't be enough for this baby, but okay. Keep pushing women to do things with their body that they aren't comfortable with, that will surely be taken lightly on the internet. 👌
