I have a 1200CXA. Just passed 33k miles. Abused the hell out it. I’ve dropped it loads , drowned it twice, and beaten it half to death….and it still rides like the day I bought. These bike got a bad rep because of their weight being carried a bit higher. Having ridden or owned everything from the KTMSA to the GS it seems to all 1200 ADVs are heavy. But the Tiger is the one I’ve held onto longest. Mainly because of its versatile triple and comfort. But also because despite the neglect, it’s never once let me down. Unlike my X2 1260s Multistradas that spent more time back at the dealership than than on the road!! The Tiger gen3 is underrated imo and with prices of em right now……you get a lot of bike for the money. They may not do anything great, but they do everything well. And in my experience they are just tough af. Hope you enjoy it. I have 2 other bikes but I’m gonna how this one goes thru the next 30k 🤙👍
Thanks for watching, I’m still loving it and growing into it. You’re right about the doing everything well …. Just hope I don t get bored with its competence. 👍
Kind strange seeing this video. I had an Africa twin 1100 for around 1 year great bike in some ways but not in other ways very uncomfortable and suspension crap . I have now purchased a tiger 1200 XCA still getting used to such a big difference in the bike so far so good .
Sorry there isn’t a forever bike, after sixty years riding what I’ve found was taught by a lovely old friend who had been a despatch rider in ww2. He said enjoy riding not the thing you sit on and after my years on various motorcycles he was right. Otherwise we kid ourselves if I was staring out I’d buy a royal Enfield cheap, service it yourself, mods that are cheap, last but not least they ride well.
Well you still had it when we met up the other day so.... On the VStrom I get equally ignored by BMW's, Harley's, sports bikes, naked's, you name them, I get ignored by them. Equally, I also get nods and waves from all those listed above. You're right, the cafe at Total Triumph is excellent, however I have always been treated with complete indifference by TT and when I asked it it was possible to test ride the Tiger 850 Sport I was told the best way to try one was to buy it... so that was the last time they saw me. To be fair, when I tried the 660 Tiger at Fowlers and found it not to my liking (WAY too small for a six footer) the salesman said I should try a Tiger 850, I asked if they had one and the salesman just laughed.... so perhaps motorcycle dealers in general are just dicks.
@Life in the Shady Lane your welcome. I live in the Philippines and looking at a gs due to ease of maintenance and I live way out. But if I was back in the US I'd definitely have the big Tiger. Excellent machine and very underrated. Especially for years 2016 thru 2021
