Redditch Kingfisher 10K 2023 - Home town race age group win

- Sunday 29 October 2023 and the Redditch Kingfisher 10K was back in my home town. After the disaster of a race in 2022 I was hoping to lift the curse and hopefully make my way around the full route without any detours. I joined several hundred runners both local and from further afield to toe the start line in the town centre. We set off for a fast downhill start to Arrow Valley Lake before an undulating last 5K with a long uphill finish back to the town centre finish line. A great day was had with a great atmosphere and good support from the crowds. I can safely say that the curse was lifted securing the v40 category trophy win. Well done sir. You really conveyed that unique feeling of walking the tightrope of running for the line, but not wanting to overdo it in case something goes ping. Bulletproof your calves, quads & hamstrings - easier said than done - and 2' 50"", will be yours I'm sure.
