With the snapbrige application you can get real time display of what your camera is seeing to help with vlogging if that helps at all. As far as the overexposed shots, trying dialing back the ISO in well lit conditions such as that shot from the auto show.

I purchased this Camera a few weeks ago. Much of it makes sense. What you spoke about was clear and I discovered the place you put the plug in order to upload into my computer. Was surprised too, because I don't recall seeing that in the little book. What I am confused with is, all the symbols on the screen. And, since I am using it for photographing assorted things so I can sell them on-line, how do I get clarity of jewelry and colors and crystal. So happy to have found you and I've just subscribed. You did a great job. So appreciate your doing this just to help. Would be nice if others were so caring!

Love the review. I got this camera for exactly what you said so I'm happy I choose the rite one for myself for now. Question though....more of a curious thought. As you said since the back screen don't rotate all the way around to blog or video yourself; is it possible you can do that with the Snaobridge app remote on your phone?

I inherited this camera after my daughter finished a digital photography class at school and didn’t want it anymore. I watched your video because when she gave it to me the batteries had run down and I didn’t have replacement AAs. That’s something to mention. It’s not rechargeable. You just use plain old AA batteries. Great overview though! Thanks for the content!
I was thinking about returning this camera as I had just bought it yesterday and loved the side zoom capability, as well as, display movability (limited as stated but for tripod work sufficient). I have read one star reviews from BestBuy page (which is where I bought the camera) but after listening to your review I may reconsider. Biggest problem was if there was movement leaving the picture blurry.
Excellent Video! Love how you explain everything quite clearly about this camera! I own a D5000 but it is much too large to travel with. I have always loved Nikon Camera's and my husband used the older Nikon Camera's when he had his darkroom! The DSLR cameras are so much better & in my opinion Nikon is the best! I have this as well. And I live in Dallas. The car show is dope. But play with your settings. You can do Slow-mo if you change your frame rate to 30-20. It has alot of things in the settings you gotta manipulate.

Great review - I just bought a used one of these on Amazon and am extremely happy with it, but I am a newbie to pic taking so it fits me well. One tip for Vlog shooting is to pace a mirror behind the camera to see how you are centered . thx for the review!

Just got one, I love this camera a lot. Going to use it for my channel for the time being and love the quality. Some of the negative issues are fixable in settings, also not sure if I have a newer model or something but I am able to shoot in 1080 @ 60fps. Edit: auto correct
I see what you’re talking about. It says it has the option to record in 1080 60i. I did some research about the differences of “i” or “p” after the FPS number and apparently “i” is the AVCHD standard, which is meant more for DVD players for a TV. Versus if you were to record in 1080p, the quality would be much better for internet content that would be seen in a monitor. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I probably should’ve included that within the video. 👍🏾
Solid video, researching cameras and know very little on the subject. Hearing your candid and unfiltered thoughts was nice and made for an easy to follow video even while I was doing research.
Just ordered this same camera. A friend recommended it because she says she takes pictures of birds that are relatively far away and the zoom quality on the coolpix compares to much more expensive lenses etc on higher end cameras.
I picked up a used L840 which seems to be the predecessor of the B500 (mine's the same color as the one reviewed here). Very similar features with a 38X (vs. 40X) zoom and the same overexposure issue. Not a bad camera (especially @ $100) but I'll be making the jump to a DSLR in the near future.
Thx for the review. I'm going on safari in December and I am racking my brain on what camera to get. The camera I currently own is a 10 yr old Olympus SLR style camera. 20X optical zoom and 10 megapixel. It takes good pictures but it's not going to cut it for my trip.

Appreciated your review. I was considering buying this camera and it was really helpful. As a realtor I'm often taking low light interior shots of rooms; doesn't sound like this camera would be good in those situations. Certainly an attractive camera though.
Good job with your review. Other reviewers played up the zoom capability more than you did . This camera is not threaded to allow use of filters but I found a filter adaptor for the one I just got that seems to work very well and just snaps in .

I had a Canon point and shoot which although took nice pics, it keeps telling me the battery needs charging! This is ridiculous starting with new batteries. Why should I buy another Canon, no thanks! So the camera does record at 60fps, but it’s 1080i instead of 1080p. Learned something new lol.
