Since making this video, I uploaded a new version of the data pack that doesnt't replace chunks with end portals, making it possible to beat this without inachievable luck, and also, entities now carry over to randomized chunks
I think another thing you could do is check for end portal frames every time you load a chunk and somehow mark the chunk it goes to so the eye of ender points there instead of the original location
Pay attention to the 0, ~, 0 coordinates in The End. If you kill dragon and there was no land on this coordinates, then back Portal will be destroyed and you can't go back. There is a video on TH-cam that show this problem, but i didn't remember the name of it.
i think that's patched in the current version. i tried it, and the portal spawned at the y-level where it originally spawned when the end was generated
Extremely varied MC terrain like floating islands, and now this, are always so beautiful to me, and this pack is no different. Can't wait to try this one out :)
This is a really cool concept, and I can't believe you got it working in a datapack! I wonder if there might be a way to detect the End Portal chunks and exclude them from the randomization.
well, now that we have macros, pretty much anything is possible with data packs. i actually just gave the end portal detection a shot and it works, so i guess i'll have to update the data pack soon!
@@DanDoesDev for sure, let me know if you need help with anything. ever since making roguecraft, i got a pretty good grasp on how to use them, and also how to work around the limitations

You're my hero!!!! I always loved when i get a chunk error in my world or weird world generation. now i can fullfil my dream of having a survival in a world that doesnt make any sense!!!!
i think my main feedback would be to try and do the chunk randomizing before the game tries to generate structures, perhaps with a new world gen setting? i think this could not only improve speed (since the game would be generating the chunks as fast as it would generate a normal one) but it would also solve the "broken" structures like that villager house or the nether fortresses i am not sure if this is even possible, but people have done some crazy stuff
one of my favorite minecraft memories ever was playing a glitched superflat creative world in I think.. 1.6.4? where there was a massive chunk error/s that caused there to be basically a massive flat cliff stretching to build height and across a very, very large area, and I built a big house in a little 'inlet' in the cliff face with a bridge to an outlying chunk pillar and a huge ladder system upwards to the house. i truly miss that world, and this kinda captures the vibe in a weird way, so thank you :)
This seems like it'd be super fun for a modded playthrough, seeing the specialized terrain/structure generation just tweaked and broken up with more variety. Could also lend itself to more interesting and varied base building I think.
Please make a mini-series on this, or even a mini-series on Roguecraft, both of these datapacks are amazing and you've made something fantastic for the community to love
It'd be cool if there was an option to keep nearby chunks within roughly the same Y level, so you could get the patchwork effect without the super tall chunks next to super low ones
as a new java player and former bedrock player, in completely forgot that i can now play mods that i have been jealous with when i was watching other people
If i was making this mod i would have made it so that generating chunks would be fed a random seed instead of the world seed, i feel like that would reduce the lag while making the end island less cursed
it's only with commands enabled, but you can run "/data get entity @e[sort=nearest,type=marker,limit=1] data" to see where the chunk is pulled from. the values for it are called "randomX1" and "randomZ1"
This is awesome!! I can't wait to play this and see how chaotic it gets. I remember when in one of the old versions, you could set weird terrain generations that could result in a lot of pillars, and I had a world playing thought that. It's since been lost (rip my old laptop), but this makes me want to make the same kind of world again. I also kinda wonder how this would feel with ChunkLock, too. I have my first ever ChunkLock run still going, and I'm at the point where I have to head to the Nether to progress. Bit intimidating, but I think I'll be fine. I found you through ChunkLock, btw, and am glad I stuck around. You have awesome ideas.
Looking at the water at the start and having the same shader pack it is complementary unbound set to reimagined settings I doubt it would be rethinking voxels since that would be unmanageable.
I wish i could play this with rougecraft on a folia server but sadly datapacks dont work on folia so i would need test on a paper server but feels like it would make absolute chaos
I dont know much about the world generation, but would it not be possible to make a mod that when generating a chunk, uses a random seed instead of the world seed? If possible, I think it should not be any laggier than just generating a normal world.
Is there any possibility of this and ChunkLock being compatible in the future? I know that requires talking to the creators of ChunkLock. Was just curious because I thought that would be a fun gamemode combo!
I would definitely want to play with this datapack! This is crazy, this is beautiful! Buuuuut.. Probably my laptop won't able to handle it.. And the End fight.. Nah, that's gonna be hard..
i don't think that's possible with data packs, so for now, you'll have to go into a copy of the world without the data pack to find bounding boxes (or you use minihud)
i hate to admit it, but i tried to make this a plugin at first, and then also tried to make it a mod, but i just don't have enough experience with either, so after some of the most painful coding experience of my life, i gave up. i wanna get a bit more into mod development at some point, so i may or may not come back to this project to make it a mod. if anything, it would fix the performance
Lol nether looks like 2b2t. Its a very novel idea overall; but likely a good a idea to spend a few minutes in creative mode setting your world up if youre gonna play it.
Since making this video, I uploaded a new version of the data pack that doesnt't replace chunks with end portals, making it possible to beat this without inachievable luck, and also, entities now carry over to randomized chunks

when you beat the ender dragon does the portal to the overworld appear or nah
Entity carry over is great
If it is possible I am gonna play this with mine pixelmon mod and let me tell you. This thing is gonna be wild. 😂

The grass block at 2:22 you speak of is actually the rarest block in the game. Even with this data pack it’s super rare. Very notable
No, it's not. It's beneath almost every snow layer :)

Did something like this accidentally once by loading a world with no hard drive space available.
I gotta try that lol

this is actually super interesting i would love to see a proper playthrough of this
What could also be cool if its just the overworld but in a new dimension. So you could play on a world and visit the scrambled version of that world
i remember making a superflat world just when they released superflat and it has a couple of chunks of normal terrain behind the spawn
This feels eerily like the alpha and beta early days where the chunk error towers were more prevalent.
This is a great way to get the vibe of the farlands, in a way that is playable. Might use this for my main survival world
I want it not as "All world is warped"
But a natural disaster like thing, with a wave of regen going around like.
I think that it would make a lot of sense to have snowy grass be revealed in normal minecraft. I at least like having an additional visible texture.
If there is no block at 0 0 in the end, end portal wouldn't generate then you will be stuck in the end even if you kill the dragon (unless if you die)
as a new java player and former bedrock player, in completely forgot that i can now play mods that i have been jealous with when i was watching other people
Wait this end is kinda dope? Like, just a nuch of little islands in the void? A bit of refining and it can become actully really cool
If i was making this mod i would have made it so that generating chunks would be fed a random seed instead of the world seed, i feel like that would reduce the lag while making the end island less cursed
I wonder if you could add this into the roguelite database as another mode of run, with a name like "broken garden" or something like that

you should add a way to see where the chunk came from in the world

i'd love to see this but it orders them by height to turn the world into a giant staircase

What shaders are you using? Clouds look so cool
I think it is a version of the complementary shaders
Make it so you can see where that chunk was in the world above your head before it was moved, also nice datapack very unique concept!
Pls make a playthrough out of this, it looks like it would be super fun!
This is THE best thing i have ever seen. So creative, so interesting, amazing.

How to make me concerned about a mod’s viability. Call it ‘technically playable.’
that would have been impossible to not have chunks errors as you place blocks on unloaded chunks.
Can you imagine this if it also swapped chunks from other dimensions also
The only problem with this is that endportals can spawn on chunk borders.
I’d like to see a survival of this
I have always wanted something like this! I cannot wait to play
Could you do a data pack where only like 0.1 chunks stay and the rest are replaced with void?
you can change the seed every time a chunk generates
adding this to my rogue like
Make it a survival series!
Does chunky work to pregenerate chunks with this mod?
