Really nice review Marek! I really like that you make your videos in English because I see so many people just talking their own languages in reviews even though they would reach out to more people in English. You are also calm and thorough in the information you tell us 👌You got my sub and like 😊 Cheers from Sweden / Kim
Fun fact, Opel and PSA co-developped grandland x/ ceossland x and new combo before they discussed acquisitions. Apparently that’s why matrix LED were not available on grandland, so PSA engineering doesn’t know it will come on other models like the insignia or astra. Looking forward to see how this very vehicule will be updated in the coming month. Thanks Marek for all your down to earth and mildly amusing reviews 😅
That is definitely an old GM (Buick/Opel) interior. This looks like a newer version of a Buick Captiva we used to get in the States as a fleet and rental car-only offering. When I drove it as a rental, it was always just fine- forgettable, in a good way.
@@MarekDrives Yah. They seem like nice guys but they do the same schtick every time. They are in and around Mississauga/Oakville area just west of Toronto.
Nice review. Found it at the right time. Looking for a "new" car and never thought I'll be looking at opels(well vauxhalls here in the uk) but this one caught my eyes and the used price is actually quite good. Need something for a family of 4 and even though boot isn't great, a roof box could aolve the problem on long holidays. And why phev? Well we live in a small town where theres no point to buy a diesel and the electric range would do me for 4-5 days. Anything else you would recommend? Thank you. Subscription just went in 😜
This was a good review, thank you. I am from one of those countries where an PHEV makes sense so this is a contender to be my company car for the next 3 years BUT I am really worried about the back seat space. When I put my two kids in their safety seats I do not want to feel them kicking me in the back. Looking at the footage in the video the back seat looks really short. I have a test drive coming up in a few days and I will definitely test with the kids' safety seat.
@@MarekDrives Rav4 Prime is an awesome vehicle. Sadly Toyota Japan will not sell to NZ and Australia. Otherwise I would have bought one. So I’ve got an RAV4 Adventure Hybrid. Thanks for your awesome channel. Cheers NZ.
Hi guys, can you explain to me, if I choose to use only EV mode, and in 50 km it will be empty, what will happen with the electric motors, will I still have 300 horse power if I need to overtake someone? Can you explain the sequence of the power train. Thanks
Why in certain countries the Grandland X is only 163 hp? Also, some options and features have been removed. For example, I am in Egypt and I don't have the following: paddle shifters, wireless charger, driving mode, 6 buttons in infotainment (I only have 4 buttons) and lane assistant. I have the traditional auto transmission stick and not this chin shaver stick.
I assume it may have a different engine, and an older transmission. Also some of the options may not be available to keep the price down or to better fit in the lineup (whatever's offered above and below it) in a given market.
@@MarekDrives Good point. It depends on the market needs of these countries. For instance, the grip control used to come with it in early 2021 models but then they removed it in mid 2021 models when consumers didn't use it much. Thank you Marek ;)
Not clear if gearbox is shifting in ev mode like skoda iV. Nonsense :) Also concerned about cold engine sprint run. How to keep it in reasonably warmed condition for on-demand sprints? Hybrid mode seems still too low mpg, and ev mode will likely keep ICE stoped most of the time.
If it's too cold the petrol engine will kick in anyway. Also, once the petrol engine is one, it will keep running until it reaches sufficient temperature. Like with any car, you shouldn't do a cold sprint, so let it work for a bit, before doing anything crazy.
At least my 2020 Grandland X drives 4WD in fully electric mode. There's three motors - One petrol in the front, and electric ones in the rear and front axels. If you kick down the gas hard enough, the petrol engine fires up, but at least I've been happily driving 4WD with electric only as long as I don't go for extreme acceleration. And of course, conditions need to be met, as in, not too cold. Even in freezing temperatures, the car starts as hybrid, but fairly quickly you're able to switch to either fully electric, or 4WD electric.
@@gazzrobb2366 At least the models we have here in the Nordics, and the 300hp version I have. If you're comparing to a version in other areas in the world, there may be differences. I don't think I've been dreaming when I've been driving 4WD in full electric mode for the past few weeks.
Is the Drive Mode in Electric? If the engine still starts up, perhaps some conditions are not met. I'm assuming you're in Ireland, where it is probably just as cold, as in Poland right now. Maybe the petrol engine needs to keep warm enough in case it has to kick in.
@@MarekDrives thank you so much for replying so fast! Yeah I live in England and it's very very cold right now, maybe that's why, thanks for your help!
@@MarekDrives and yes i was pushing down on the driving mode to select electric then when the little scroll list disappeared it just didn't change at all
I got to drive the phev with 225hp. I didn’t like how it drove, a bit too much power only on the frontwheels and it wasn’t comfortbale with speedbumps and bumps in the road.
Tesla Y in Germany (I use German prices for reviews in English) starts at 58k for the non-performance model. Add 7.5k for the Autopilot (of course you want the Autopilot), maybe different wheels, maybe fancy color, and you're up in high 60s. As long as there is charging infrastructure, this could make sense. In Poland it doesn't. Also in Poland we can't order the Y yet.
@@MarekDrives right the first not the second , a feet is 12 inches. Nothing relevant BTW, your reviews are good & lovely and that's the core of it. I just got inspired by mat watson/jinny buckley reviews. Have a good weekend.
I won't understand in 100 years why anybody would prefer such a dull and boring car over a nice and pretty thing like a 3008 oder C5 Aircross. The opel certainly is a good car. But it's interior is so *yaaaaawn* compared to the peugeot's or the citroen's.
It's interesting how insanely bad this car perform in the real world. In hybrid, about 10 km/l and range in electric only is between 30 and 36 km AT BEST! Some get as low as 20 km on a charge. It is so expensive to run that is makes zero sense, and Opel and PSA is lying through their teeth about its performance.
Judging by what people really drive (vs. what car people like), forgettable is among top priorities, when choosing a car :) As for the price, I'm looking at peugeot.de site, and the 3008 Hybrid FWD starts ar 43k. The cheapest Hybrid4 costs 49k, and if you go all out it's going to cost 54k + whatever options you add. So it costs pretty much the same. But I agree the 3008 is a much better/interesting looking car.

Great review.
Im not a fan of the old grandland X but got to say this car looks beautiful. Never seen a car with a different bonnet colour before, looks very cool
It's an option the AWD PHEV models.
The only drawback is price
But the car is awesome
Can't wait for you to test the new Mokka
Probably in the spring 2021. I'm all booked for this 'season".
How does Opel manage to make cars that are not one bit aspirational no matter the price? :D No one ever said „I dream of driving an opel“
It's the Peugeot effect.
Great review . Thanks. Thinking of buying one
Enjoy it
