That 3 pin socket in rear is for when stuck in traffic to run your nesspresso coffee machine and toaster, can see a problem coming down the line when insurance companies up the insurance cost because it's a higher hp

I really hope hybrid and electric will be on a reasonable price in the near future, 50 grand for an opel is a bit too much.

Exactly just buy normal one for €35k and you have €15k for fuel that's some amount driving

Bit of Hammerite metal paint applied with a small brush to the brake disc hat works a treat at stopping the rust! Black looks much better too as it doesn't draw the eye and lets the alloy stay the centre piece!

Great video Bob. Agree..price is nuts. Somebody must be buying them though.. Opel use to be the go to Rep car in this country. Hope they addressed reliability issues from older models. Market needs better competition.

Great video Bob, I recently drove the diesel Grandland X for the first time and it was ok. Weirdly I preferred the 3008 over it. Thanks for showing us this variant :)

I was hoping you'd get to try one of these at some point. I got one as a company car in July and I'm really liking it! Nice driving position, very quick off the line and not bad to look at either. I have a charge point at home and work so it suits me perfectly. Fun fact, the Vauxhall branded Hybrid4 has the Business Edition Nav Premium, SRi, Elite and Ultimate trim levels in ascending purchase price. The Elite is around £45k, yet the Business Edition is £37k and is basically the same spec as the Elite but with lower BIK value for company car drivers. Not sure if you could walk into a Vauxhall dealer as a private buyer and order the BE version, but for £7k less it's worth a try!

      I wish I did...
With them being over the 40k list price our road tax is £500 per year...

Hey Bob, the reason the fuel flap doesn't open all the time is because they are designed to leave off the vapor in the tank before opening which can take up to a minute to open in the grandland 😃

enjoyable review Bob, it seems a good all rounder, but as ever the price is hard to take, very hard to justify to yourself, when you consider its 50 grand for a "regular" car... 🇮🇪.

Go for the 2WD Hybrid 225 it's a lot cheaper.

You've convinced me to go and get one
The Hybrid is a cracking used buy now
2/3k more than the diesel but you'll save that in fuel over the duration of even a 4 year PCP deal

That's a mental amount of money for an Opel, top of the range or not. I live in Northern Ireland and I know it'd be about 40 odd grand up here but I wouldn't pay that for any car never mind an Opel/Vauxhall. If they want folk to buy hybrids or electric cars over pure petrol or diesel they'll have to drop the price of them.

  • @stephendoherty8291
    @stephendoherty8291 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Had a quick look at the Opel website. Its €32k for an mid-spec diesel and €45k for the same in the lower end hybrid (not 4WD). Even with better fuel economy/near zero C02 and lower annual car tax, its a big difference (€13k) in price for about 50km electric range. Also its motorway overtaking should be better (its a 1.6 in the hybrids not the small 1.2 you might have thought it was). Doing a bit of rough calcs vs the diesel-fuel prices-average driving distance-rounding down for electric prices and opels official fuel consumptions (usually unrealistic for every car maker), its going to take a LONG time to make back the 13k premium (even with higher diesel prices and petrol prices from carbon taxes) every year. This presumes you always charge your car overnight..
Looking at spec, the low charging rate (7KW) seems very slow even if the electric range for all EV and PHEVs is way overstated) and charging extra for a 7kw charging capability seems petty.

Pricey yes, great used buy though.
I've just paid £17k for one, the Mrs can charge it at work for free that is 6/7 miles away.
Her mid week motoring costs will be free.
It goes like thr clappers in sports mode too.

Brand new i think these suffered from s touch of brand snobbery and high pricing. On the used market they're exceptional Value compared to the 3008.

It's so funny with the glove box. If GB started to drive on the right side of the road, then you would not get a fuse box in the glove compartment.

1.5 diesel ford focus for example can tow 1400kg.

Yeah LHD models get a big glove box, they could just move the fuze box at this stage
