Thank you Pat. I got your pattern. I will be making it using variations of Teal colours for a friend. I've lost my joy for sewing ages ago but need to make this quilt for my friend. I'm loving your video's more than ever considering now that I've been diagnosed x2 cancers. Brain and neck. The neck is the main issue as it is wrapped around my carotid artery. I'm just starting my journey down that road and have too do lots of scan before the plan becomes known. I am remaining positive and will be sewing and finishing off my ufo projects first. Then when one is done I can work on other. So this is my plan. God bless. Julie
@@juliebeard6424 hugs Julie. Praying for your healing and comfort through your fight. Your friend will be so delighted to receive a quilt from this lovely pattern.
I love cleaning and going thru my stash weekly. Makes me feel good. Last year I had my very first yard sale and was able to sale a lot of my unused notions and fabric. If you haven't uses something for a year get rid of it. Let someone else enjoy it. This thought process has helped me keep my small space decludered and organized.🙂
Next month will be one year ago that on FB Market Place Buy nothing, that I came across a single mom of five children. The middle three are adopted siblings. Mom is a veteran. She was asking for any extra fabric or patterns, as she and her children wanted to learn to sew. I responded with offering fabric, patterns, notions and offered to teach them! Yes! The eldest is off to college. What a joy and blessing this family is. My quilt group also donated a huge bag of fabric. The boutique that I voleenteer at, they raise money for animal care, has also given me any fabric and craft supplies for the family. What a wonderful thing when we share.
I also have a parts department-can you do a video in the future that shows how you fit all the different blocks-different sizes, colors etc.- into one cohesive quilt? I love everything you do and especially when you show us the decisions you make to pick fabrics for a block. Thanks again for your creativity and generosity.
Our local library has an annual fabric sale on Super Bowl Sunday. During the month of January, the library takes fabric donations that will be measured, organized and priced. They also accept notions, fiber and yarn donations. On the day of the sale, just before 10 AM, eager shoppers line up at the door, along the sidewalk and down the street. Your Organization Extravaganza could not have come at a better time! My husband and I are going through our quilting inventories with tough love! So far we have a filled a few boxes with donations. Our challenge will be to not buy back our own donations when we go to the sale! 😂 ( and to not buy anything we won’t really use…) The library’s programs benefit from the proceeds of the sale. ❤
I have multiples of so many notions: rotary cutters, scissors, etc. I believe I will now refer to them as “collections” instead of asking why. Loving the new block Wednesday and am doing it in Daffodils and Dragonflies by Kansas Troubles. Thanks Pat!
I have been so motivated by your cleaning up that I emptied my whole room and started new and fresh . I even sorted throu all my quilting patterns and organized them and pulled out the ones I won’t make anymore, besides my fabric, and scraps. Etc…. Thank you
Hi Pat, I got an idea 💡 when you said that you work with Olfa for the cutters, maybe you can have your own color of Olfa cutter that could possibly be red dots 🔴🔴🔴🔴
When my mom passed away she had an entire room of craft things. I called senior centers and rehabilitation centers /nursing homes and schools and donated the stuff amongst the three it was hard but knowing the things would bring joy to someone else helped .
I've enjoyed your tidying challenge. It will work a little differently for me, ... my studio is almost finished, and I'm starting to move in. Since I will put everything away neatly, I won't have any tidying to do for a while, but I'm keeping your principles in mind as I set up. Thank you - your cheerful voice makes work more pleasant!
Thank You Pat--I can keep All the Fabric--LOL! Seriously, this year I am Determined to get through the back log, so for every New Project--I MUST FINISH one Old Project. This "Tidy Up" is Great!
Pat, you inspired me to really go through ALL my fabric and I felt like you gave me permission to let go. Yesterday I donated six large boxes of fabric to my local senior center. Thank-you for giving me this push! Have a wonderful day.
Love your scarf today Pat! It must be cold up there this morning! It is 38 degrees here in Florida today. I looked outside and my Morning Doves were skating on their bird bath with little hats and scarves on! ☃️😳❄️🤦♀️🕊
I laughed at why have a lot of rotary cutters. Guilty. I have many and still manage to lose them. I do have them organized for the most part, but as I’m cutting a few projects I tend to lose them under the patterns and fabric 😢 I love rotary cutters 🎉❤
Check into your County Extension Service office to see if they can use things. I teach quilting, needlework, and sewing classes at our office, and we can always use donations for our Family and Consumer Science (the current name for Home Economics) and 4H programs.
So trying to tidy between projects and notions to me is the hardest. Then you show me something and first thing I think of is "heck I need to try that" - snap and wrap and the ironing tool. LOL Quilters must be on the same wave length - I have hat boxes also and frankly I forget what is in them. I have ordered chalk board labels - ( large size ) to catch my attention and did a bulk buy on project boxes. The best part of organizing at least once a year is to remind me what I have and that maybe I won't order duplicates. Thanks for the encouragement.
i enjoy your videos..They make my day...I especially liked the organizational ones you did now, when you show quilts you've made, the Q & A...I guess I especially like them all! 🥰
In Canada in rural areas they have a 4H group/program we call it for country kids, teaching them farming, animals, cooking and many many crafts. I donated a lot of fabric to them for the kids crafting and sewing.
Hi Pat, I recently used an older line of your fabric, Nikki, which I love the colors in it. But it made me wonder how you come up with the names for your fabrics. Do you name them or the fabric company?
Donations- I found a local church that takes my flimsies. They have ladies that love to do the quilting part. These quilts are then used for when someone loses their spouse or for their missionaries. That might be another outlet for the quilting community to check into.

I'm now at the age (71) to start downsizing my stash; I don't want my girls to have to do it. Have sent several 13 gal bags to a local church quilting group. You inspire us, Pat Sloan, thank you! See you online next time!!
4 H Club in Collegeville, near King of Prussia and Philadelphia PA has a huge sewing items sale once a year. They want donations. If you live in the area,, contact them in late spring and ask if they have set up drop off dates yet.
Just a suggestion… I LOVE donating fabric to children who are interested in sewing- particularly if their parents don’t sew. Fabric is expensive and I find that many parents are hesitant to buy supplies for their kid to learn to sew. They are usually so happy to get some fabrics to experiment with.
A LQS went out of biz 😭 I bought 25 cents bolts of panels at their final day. I’m thinking of a church quilting project where ladies who want to learn how to make a quilt can get a panel & add borders, add batting, quilt, & bind. What would you do with them?
I didn't like strawberry ice cream as a kid either, did the sane tgubg - at the vanilla and chocolate, but for me it was the frozen pieces of strawberries that were icky. I would eat the strawberry ice cream part wo/ the frozen berries and put on fresh strawberries. All the difference in the world!
I haven’t delved into notions but I have done many scraps and I keep finding them. A friend nearby takes all the small stuff. I basically save 2 1/2” pieces. Feels so go to let go of items that won’t get used by me.
Will the patterns from all your books that will now not be available become pdfs? Just wondering what becomes of all that hard work and creativity of those book patterns.
PAT i went thru my fabric stash and NOW it looks like I have much less without giving anything away. I sometimes buy multiples of the same print because i didnt know I already bought it, but now all the same are together and visible. SO room for more now :)
Pat, When do you consider a quilt finished? Is it after the top is done or after the binding is finished. I have struggled with deciding what date to put on my quilts. Thanks
Question….. How and where do you store the blocks that have been sashed for works in progress and are too big for the containers you use for the projects?
Q&A segment- I just met a brand new quilter while fabric shopping :) She didn't know about online tutorials and OF COURSE I gave her your name. ** Is there a specific place in your playlist that would be beneficial for her to start? To admire I would think. As Pat collects them but hasn't figured out how to display them yet or ever, she can enjoy them each time she opens a drawer 😍 ✂
Question? I know Greg helps you with the family business, but does he have time for a hobby? I thought I remember you saying he liked trains??? Does he have a hobby space that he spends time in? Would love to see a picture of him in his space!
Been a fun few weeks with the notions. I have the closet area to fix and see if I need to store differently but the room has made so much progress thx to this challenge. ❤️❤️❤️👋👍🪡🧵

Enjoyed these hints and suggestions for tidying up. Thank you Pat.
Thanks Pat, you are a true inspiration, thanks for all you do.
Only Strawberry ice cream that is good is handmade.....
As for strawberry quilts, I have one ready to start stitching on the longarm
Neapolitan ice cream. Yum!
Its much better now I think. They put really pieces of strawberry in it! 💗

Put your extra notions into kits. I grab pretty tins to use for the kits. If a child or lady want to learn how to sew, you have a starter kit.
