Got one black on white interior 3 months ago, couple quick observations for interested buyers: 1) the sound is indeed great, both engine and sound system. The car is tightly screwed together , not rattly, and you get a great sound experience overall. 2) interior can be tight, but manageable. I have a child seat in the back, and even with my driving at 6ft someone can sit behind me. Noting this is NOT a large sedan, and you will find a Golf R more roomy and practical. 3) the lack of extendable sun visor is a BIG pain for daily driving, need to find after market solution ASAP. However, there is a seating position high enough to cover my head - not ideal. 4) don't let your wife or kid drive it, ever. The wheels are low profile and car sits low ( i have swift springs on which drop it about an inch also, would recommend, looks great and feels more planted without too much comfort loss) 5) i understand the dated comments on tech etc. I think you have to see the value prop here, at 75k CAD this is the cheapest you will get this car of any place in the world. It will hold its value better than all competitors, and will outlast them too reliability wise. Screens break, electronics fault over time, this is a car that you own for 10 years with little issues and still resell well. 6) i dont plan to track or street race, but the car is fast enough to feel great on a spirited night drive or country road. It really is a 'feeling', the combination of the compact package , rwd and v8. You don't get this for the 0-60 in my view, although it has plenty there when needed. He also just seems to be a bit too unaware of how cocky and self-absorbed he is when he's on his own with the camera, giving _himself_ shout-outs, loves to talk about what he likes, and things he owns, etc. 🙄 Much more likeable when he keeps control of himself, acts more humble, and remains chill in his reviews with Yuri
Just a FYI, 8:10 If you disable the flapper valve and keep it open you will loose low end torque. This has been documented with both the RCF/GSF over at CL.
I bought 3 of these. My 1st was the Launch Edition. Took delivery Jan 2022. Was the 1st IS500 sold in my state. Get one while you can. My current spec: infrared & white leather around 103 cars in existence.
I have the MSC exhaust on my GSF with the valves system. It’s expensive but awesome. My god it sounds good, people are always amazed how it sounds. “That’s a Lexus?” Is a question I’ve heard a few times.
The engine was entirely redesigned for the RCF in 2014. It is not the same engine as the V8 in the ISF from 2006. It is a redesigned high-revving V8 that has all designed parts that are not shared with the ISF V8 except some in the bottom block.
You know what, old is good sometimes, I own a RC350 F sport and enjoy it so I can imagine the fun this car can be, and that engine! They are great cruisers and when you need to pass, yup no problem…. You don’t buy these for ultimate speed, they are muscle cruisers. IS ,RC,LC if you approach them with a GT cruiser mindset you I’ll love these cars. And you won’t be at the mechanics all the time (RELIABILITY). Yeah I guess I’m biased 😂
Muscle cruiser = weak, surpassed by the competition. Ultimate speed? The RC is the slowest car in it's class, not even remotely just off "ultimate". The RC is a joke. The LC is the only one worth buyer for the looks alone.
Once you own a Lexus, it’s hard to own anything else due to the comfort, workmanship, and reliability. That car will last for years and go many more miles than anything else out there.
I love all the BMW M series old and new. I love all of the AMGs. But in July 2012 I bought my ISF brand new daily driver (currently 62k miles)… and there has never been 1 second I thought about replacing it. I will never sell it. It gets me to the grocery store, liquor store, Costco, etc fast enough for sure! ❤

My IS500 survived a winter. With the right tires on it, it's a lot better than people would think. I was making my way up hills while the accord next to me started sliding back down! Edit: I've only had it for one winter so far lol.
@@VersanGetryx I used a dedicated tire. Was still sketchy at times but if you picked your battles it would work. Apparently because the rear tires aren't THAT big, all things considered, if you don't use snow tires you really don't have much traction. Was between ordering this or a 340 last year for a new DD. Ended up personally liking the 340 more because it feels more “sporty” and more modern after driving both. Massive props to Lexus for continuing to offer a product like this and I hope it sticks around for a few more years, it is a great car. Would love to pick one up at some point as a 3rd or 4th car.
4:30 I couldn't agree more. I absolutely adore that paint but I don't think it fits the car very well. Also, other reviewers' videos on this car are a lot more critical than yours. There may be a bias given you owned it in the past, and I don't blame you one bit for it. I have personally witnessed BMW, Audi people driving an IS and being completely blown away by it. The car surprises you in a way you never expected
I actually have the Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 on my IS 500 and can confirm they're pretty dang good on this car. I can actually use first gear now. pre sure yamaha did more than just tune the intake system on the lfa.. more like co-developed the entire engine from firing order to induction to exhaust etc..
The flap is used in n/a engines for torque modulation through the bandwidth. Opening the flap all the time will most probably cause a loss of torque in the lower rev range.

Put this on my watch later list, and I am now enjoying it on the big screen WITH SOUND.
Your 2008 Straight piped V8 sounds amazing
That Lexus Redline will always be so iconic
Man, I wish Lexus would offer a 6 speed manual in the IS trims.
Is250 has a rare manual, even have one
Sadly even the m3 models only the baseline is in standard. The comp with awd is only auto. All companies aren’t listening to the people whom want manual
Thanks for reviewing! I bought one of these and I can’t get enough! While my BMW was definitely faster, this car has much more of a soul, and I get more smiles per gallon without a doubt. While it may be not be as attractive on paper as some of the more modern competition, I’m sure they’ll be missed once they’re gone!
Not a diss to Yuri but is a video with only Jakub kinda better? You've become such a good presenter. Also, love the car
no... he's gotten better, but still a long way from being as good as the natural banter between them. He somehow doesn't seem to get that the whole "repetitive/persistent gag" of repeating the same line over and over again gets annoying after the first handful of times. I found this review hard to watch and couldn't even finish it because of how annoying it was to keep hearing the same line about owning an ISF.
Red w/ white actually sounds dope AF. 👍👏 I bought white/white.
@@hattorihongzo Nice prior to the Infrared I had white & black leather & before that the Launch Edition that had the Alcantra interior.
Why 3?
@@chromatichimera why not?
I had an atomic silver with red and am picking up a caviar with red in a week or two.
That blue with black accents is amazing... Damn fine looking car
I can't remember the last time I watched a TSP video from beginning to end. It's just so much better when Jakub is on his own.
I kept searching for what was making those dings in my browser tabs before I caught on that it was for every time Jakub said 'my 2008 Lexus ISF' lol
😂
I’ve loved every generation IS. Keep it going Lexus!
I HATED the front grill when it first came out. But it's really grown on me over the years. Honestly my favorite at the moment
It's because all the other luxury manufacturers now want to steal the butterface award.
Amen. 👏
As a current / ex-owner of multiple M & AMG cars (IS500 too), I verify and endorse this statement. 👍
Muscle cruiser = weak, surpassed by the competition. Ultimate speed? The RC is the slowest car in it's class, not even remotely just off "ultimate". The RC is a joke. The LC is the only one worth buyer for the looks alone.

I've got a 2023 and I've added a non resonated mid pipe, it's perfect.
Does the 2023 allow you to do burnouts like the 2024, or does it limit you like the 2022?
I ended up buying a black ISF years ago (still have it) thanks to Jakubs review.
Amazing. You still have it?
@@TheStraightPipes I still have the ISF after almost 6 years! I even did a muffler delete like you.
I got the 2nd to last one from BringATrailer in blue, absolutely love it. 60k miles and just installed a slightly louder exhaust, it's now perfect.
I remember when i was young. I thought lexus was so boring. Now im in my lexus era.
How true is that. I'm 44 and have an e39 M5 and e36 M3 in my garage and wouldn't mind having an IS500 as well. Lexus era is here!
It was boring.
Great video great entry to the 2UR and modified cooling, brakes, full suspension and its a fantastic platform! Color is gorgeous but the car has potential and is insanely fun! 🙌🏽 IS500 is a great pickup kudos to those who don't follow the crowd! 🙌🏽
Fantastic review! Funny you mentioned driving your 08 ISF in the snow & yearlong! It’s a fantastic car for the snow, I did the same with my 2016 GSF! Love the F cars & love any reviews you do of them (IS500 a F in my mind). Haha your GSF review helped solidify pulling the trigger on one last year, so thank you. Jealous of your Canadian GSFs… US never got the heated steering wheel
Thanks for the info! GSF 😍
My IS500 survived a winter. With the right tires on it, it's a lot better than people would think. I was making my way up hills while the accord next to me started sliding back down! Edit: I've only had it for one winter so far lol.
I got an '09 ISF in Oct with all-season tires. It was terrifying in the snow, even in 'snow mode' :( Maybe I do need a dedicated winter tire...
@@VersanGetryx I used a dedicated tire. Was still sketchy at times but if you picked your battles it would work. Apparently because the rear tires aren't THAT big, all things considered, if you don't use snow tires you really don't have much traction. That plus a front-heavy weight distribution is asking for some sliding!
@@pyramo3170 Thanks for the response! I will definitely look into them, that should help living in the midwest!
Great review, Jakub. Love the V-8 and this is such a great vehicle despite being long in the tooth. By the way, Yuri and you do a great job together but are still very solid reporting individually. I am sure it is a bit of an adjustment. Do miss the comedic banter back and forth between the two of you though. Keep up the great work.
Was between ordering this or a 340 last year for a new DD. Ended up personally liking the 340 more because it feels more “sporty” and more modern after driving both. However, absolutely love the IS500’s motor, if it had a quicker transmission and more dynamic suspension setup I would have picked one up immediately and added another v8 to my garage. Massive props to Lexus for continuing to offer a product like this and I hope it sticks around for a few more years, it is a great car. Would love to pick one up at some point as a 3rd or 4th car.
It's definitely more dynamic than the M340i. Has a predictable body roll, unlike the 340i's annoying understeer. Where did you drive both?
Wish they’d brought this over here, makes me miss my IS-F!
Omgggg this is one of the best looking sedans *PERIOD*
4:30 I couldn't agree more. I absolutely adore that paint but I don't think it fits the car very well.
Also, other reviewers' videos on this car are a lot more critical than yours. There may be a bias given you owned it in the past, and I don't blame you one bit for it. I have personally witnessed BMW, Audi people driving an IS and being completely blown away by it. The car surprises you in a way you never expected
I actually have the Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 on my IS 500 and can confirm they're pretty dang good on this car. I can actually use first gear now. Lol
But in all seriousness, great tire all around. It's my daily, and they're pretty comfortable tires, but they feel a lot more responsive than the Bridgestones that came on the car.
Great to hear
pre sure yamaha did more than just tune the intake system on the lfa.. more like co-developed the entire engine from firing order to induction to exhaust etc..
My dream vehicle.
This is the time where I can quote a great canadian song... If I had a million dollar!!
That Lexus is all I can ask for in a car!
Lexus is smart if it works perfect they don't mess with it, that's why there so reliable
In a world of hybrids and EV's a NA V8 in 2024 is heart warming. THANK YOU Lexus!
Accl/Brake pedal “conflict”!! That rings of the ‘ol unintended acceleration “issue”…
Props for taking a look at the induction sound system. On launch, reviewers lazily claimed the sound in the cabin was fake.
Thats a sweet ride! Been a while since I watched a review of a really sweet car! Hybrids and EVs messing up everything...
you can tell Jacob is really passionate about this review with how in dept he went haha
I love lamp
I feel like this is Lexus’ version of the old w204 Mercedes c63 (2007-2015). Love it
Good comparison. I often think the larger GSF is the second coming of the BMW E39 M5. 🎉
That shot at 0:13 was sick
Props to Toyota with keeping the buttons, I'm so sick of touch screens. my dry fingers don't work on them.
It’s crazy for Lexus to have not put a V8 in their LS but put one in this car and the LC and the RC.
Honestly this review was SO good man lol
Thanks!
The flap is used in n/a engines for torque modulation through the bandwidth. Opening the flap all the time will most probably cause a loss of torque in the lower rev range.
“No gloss black”
Could do without it but there are a lot worse out there.

I have owned an IS350 F-sport RWD for the past 5 years, I was excited to see the IS500 happen, the 8AT (and quiet/refined interior) are the downsides for me, I wish I could have it with a 6mt; I know it would be slower, but I don't care about 0-60 after a certain point. I do not like the engine in the CT4-V BW, and have no desire to pay for an M3. 'Just buy a mustang" you might say, but I need four doors, hence the IS350 F-sport RWD I currently own.
I love this car.

This is probably the car I want the most at the moment that us somewhat attainable given my age and income😂 Loves lexuses, own a second one atm, wish it had some more modern (2024) tech like no touchpad, an awd (that can be turned off) and it would be an ultimate car in its class. It loses to M340i in many things like tech and speed, but honestly, IS500 is so much more unique that idc about that 1 second or so difference in the 0-60

Intake flap is to reduce sucking in heat soaked stagnant air. Opens once the car is moving to catch cooler air. Yes, it does make a little negative difference open all of the time for some reason.
