“A five liter v8 has just entered the chat”. bro been emersing himself in gen z language 😂
😁😁😁
I traded in my fairly loaded 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo for a 2023 IS 500 late last year right as my warranty was going to expire. Previously had a S4 and a 335xi. The IS 500 is a gem of a car it just works. No rattles, shakes, creaks, etc. Turns on and goes. At 10/10’s is not up there with the Porsche but for my daily driving it’s perfect. Funny I think one of The Topher videos stated they get compliments at Chick-Fil-A going through the drive through. A lot of folks have Macans where I live and no one ever batted an eye. Funny at got a few compliments at CFA already on the IS. It takes about four weeks of lead time to get a service scheduled at my local Porsche dealership. Had a few issues with the Macan; thermostat, air suspension compressor, a few trim pieces, and the rear camera were replaced under warranty with different visits. Understood is not a good comparison of Porsche vs Lexus. I can go to the Lexus dealership any day of the week with no lead time and drop the IS off for service which the service schedule is more simple. Hope to keep the IS for some time. Cheers!
If your local Lexus dealer provides great service it will only improve your ownership experience. I'll never forget when my dealer changed my Lexus car battery and washed the car in under 1 hour. It is also nice knowing you won't have to schedule weeks in advance for a simple own change.
@timmytandoori Did you have a lot of creaks and rattles? I was kinda looking into a used '23 Macan GTS and was hoping the interior would be solid. I currently have a '22 base Cayenne (which is loaded with options) and it has 3-4 constant rattles, one of which occurred the day I drove it off the lot - which is a shame honestly. And yes, you need to plan WAY ahead to get a service appt. with a loaner car.
My other car, a Mercedes, I can get into the dealership the next day and get a loaner. Might have to go with a GLE580 just knowing my local dealership will be a better experience haha. I heard the GLE580 have a min. discount of $8-$10K - which is pretty dam good for a V8! Anyways, enjoy your Lexus!
@@pkagent14 it’s certainly great. Availability and pricing is better IMO than Porsche.
@@MuffinMoney the 2023 GTS and 2020 Turbo are mostly the same minus a few options (no more Turbo in 22 for that generation). Would say rattle wise wasn’t bad for me. Post Covid I was WFH so Macan lived in the garage and got dealer service exclusively which they lubreacte hinges and treat the rubber seals, etc most services. MSRP for my Macan was $102k back in 2020 so was decently optioned. I do crank the sound system up pretty loud blew a pair of the Bose speakers in the front doors of the Macan and was covered under warranty. Some of the rattles were due to that under music load. The Lexus is wild, I crank up the Mark Levisnson’s close to max all the time and doesn’t rattle like the more expensive Porsche. Fit and finish are both top notch Lexus and Porsche. Here is the kicker, was on my third car in the dealer family, 2 S4’s (13 and 18) and moved into Porsche with an eventual hope to get a 911 allocation. Would say get the Macan if you want to stay in the Porsche “family”. I enjoyed the Macan (was debating a Cayenne S vs Macan Turbo). Enjoyed the Lexus so much (my first Toyota product) ended up getting a second Toyota as a second car; a 2023 Toyota Tacoma. Both just soak up the miles. Where I live have below average luck with tires and Porsche tires like anything Porsche can be a wait. Had a few tire claims and replaced all four one time and availability would be a shopping exercise . What ever you get, good luck and happy driving!
Really great feedback as an owner, thanks!
Fun Fact: The IS500 is the only brand new 4-door Sedan with a N/A V8 that you can buy brand new at a dealership in the entire world. Last year there 2 more options but both axed: 2023 300C & 2023 Charger R/T & Scat Pack.
And not only that, it's a good V-8. Sounds good, revs quickly, and responds smoothly. Not the most efficient, but 19 MPG combined is better than you'd typically expect from a 5.0 V-8-powered vehicle.
@@ARentz07 Amen on that the V8 is smooth as silk.
such a crazy fact. at least bmw and audi are holding it down with the TT v8 sedans and cadillac with the supercharged blackwing 6.2 LSA ( I dont count the S580 benz cus who tf can afford that).. but i really feel like the chevy SS/Holden commodore or even the impala/caprice could make a huge comback right now with a NA 6.2 Lt1 from the SS camaro. or even a new smaller LS engine with dohc like the coyote would be really cool.
@@ARentz07 from what ive heard the Lexus 5.0 isnt really the most responsive but it is smooth. the RCF/GSF/LC500 have always been hated on for feeling slow even with an 8 speed. the turbo sixes in the m340i, q50 rs, g70 3.3, s4/s5 are just better as they can hit the 3s 0-60 with just tunes. this car only wins in reliability. and at nearly 70k i couldnt see myself choosing it over any of those cars. you can even get an m3 for the same price as the is500. the genesis g70 is the slowest in that group and still goes the same speed as the is500 for an entire 20k cheaper.
I’m amazed how fast the quality of your videos has increased in a short amount of time. Keep up the good work
Thank you for saying that! Working hard to improve them little by little
@@MilesPerHr I dont say this color way on the website, how can I get it? Thanks!
It still blows my mind that lexus put Bridgestone potenzas on this car. After 2 months i immediately went Michelin PS4S and night and day difference.
Because they cheap and always playing it safe
As I like to say, the best change you can make to the IS 500 is to install better tires. I put a set of Continental ECS02 tires on my car and have been loving the improved traction.
I did the same - does your new tires make sounds like they are sticking to the pavement when you're driving at low speeds. Even after 1k miles on mine they sound like i've got tar all over them.
Love these videos! You are really living my dream. Driving nice cars around Southern California!
The back seats are very small but overall this car has every piece of technology you need and want with Toyota reliability
Great review man . appreciate you .
Thanks for the support!
Love your living with videos - provides great insights for potential buyers and owners alike. Entertaining delivery as well - appreciate your energy level! It's been 2.5 years with our IS500 so far and my partner and I are still enjoying this analog car in a digital world. We have another car for speed and handling - this is just a celebration of the last NA V8 from Japan.
Good job bro, keep it up!
Wife didn't make him sleep in the car so keep up the progress
Thank you!
I hate to say this, but this Lexus is my favorite design among all modern sport sedans. Add to that the V8, reliability and interior luxury, it's just perfect.
Love the lexus LFA sounds the best
As an owner of a IS 500, I absolutely love this vehicle!! It is a car that is incredibly easy to drive daily and yet, can transform into a beast when you want it. I wouldn't trade it for anything!
Had my 2023 🧡🍊Molten Pearl IS500 for about 7 months now…this car is a blast to drive, super comfortable, and drives like a luxury sedan when (if) you want it to. Zero remorse.
Always early baby❤🎉
saving up to get one later this year
14:28 "I don't want to" mood 😂
Great review MPH!
Thanks, Hector!
My dream car
This car is such a flex. Looks so good irl. Would love to own one.
A Lexus IS isn’t much of a flex to be honest
@@user-ht8po4tv1c what? kinda is
@@user-ht8po4tv1cit flexes on whatever you drive.
@@user-ht8po4tv1csays the guy with his TH-cam burner account.

Who else loves the driveway segment 😂💯🔥
I love these what its like to live with videos could u possibly do a video on what its like to live with a 2024 Lincoln Navigator Black Label, I'm Getting One In June
I'll look into it!
@@MilesPerHr Ok Thank You!!
Love the daily part. It does look tighter than a GS, but still, even with sedan with GS size trunk, it can fit a 28 inch bag and a full size stoller barely. X3 can easily fit those
THE COACH HINES REFERENCE! omg i haven't heard anyone but my best friend reference yamanashhh
I’ve owned mine for a few months now and I love it. I traded a new BMW240 for it and although the beemer was quicker the IS is so much better. It’s very comfortable and the V8 is magic add fantastic sound quality and I’m happy.
As a daily reliability is everything. Even though the is500 isn’t the fastest out there. It’s still fast enough to have a hella fun time.
The first thing I did when I got my isf was to change those wheels and tires cuz stock one were not nearly wide enough, and that tire change made a huge difference in 0-60 as the tire won't spin easily now.
How did you overlook the mustang or Austin Martin? I considered both before choosing the lc.
Love this car, that engine is everything imo. Sure the interior is outdated but I don’t look at the infotainment when driving.
The sound the car makes is sweet. I was hoping they would come up with an AWD version. The transmission could use some fine tuning but it’s really nitpicking.
can you do the same thing that you did on the rs7 performance like sleeping in it but with a m3 because that’s what i would like to try when i get my own m3
I own the exact same car, no child seats to worry about just me and my IS500 everyday plus 2 sets of golf clubs fit easily. I normally keep my cars 2 years max but I think this might be a keeper, comfortable daily driver and super fun when you want to be aggressive, plus Lexus reliability. What is not to like?
I have a 2011 IS F and that sound puts a smile on my face every day. None of that piped in/speaker BS you get these days
These have augmented sound, but you can disable. Of all the cars that don’t need it!
Love the Isf
Really appreciated the section with your wife and the car seats! Really helps visualize. My fiance is five foot so we should have room behind her (I’m also five foot 9)
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the feedback
For $69K that's a GREAT price! I actually thought it was a typo in the description 😂
Right?
69k for a 2013 interior
@@Brianuwu622you’re too far gone if you think the interior is bad. What is bad about it?
@@user-gk7zv8qz8i it’s ancient 😂😂😂
Can get it well equipped for 65k
If they made this a manual, I would 100% get it. Test drove the IS500 and it was just a little boring compared to my FL5. Great car though!
Different purpose. I was selling a type R , figure I drive it before customer arrived. Great chassis, great response , seating position was great too. I own a IS500, it’s a daily for me, comfortable , great character, no road noise , a real luxury sedan.
I don’t buy sport cars anymore I have a 2jz on a stand and have all forged internals ready to go , tubular turbo manifold, G35-900 .83 A/R , ethanol , GSC S1 cams , if I’m doing a sports car a type R or anything OEM doesn’t cut it for me.
I'm amazed at how often I see people claiming to cross-shop the Type R and IS 500. Like, why?
@@ARentz07 very strange
I came from a s2000 and yes, stock it was not exciting. But after beefier suspension, cat back, and headers, I’m stoked everyday to get in it and rip.
Exterior and engine are great! But man that interior is stuck in 2012 lol
Interior came out in 2014. Honestly it’s a timeless interior. Some want change for the sake of change. At that point make sure u buy a new gen car ever 4 years. Something is gained and lost in every generation. E92 N/A 4.0L some will want that others will want a f80, S55 low curb weight etc, Others will want the S58 and modern tech, but to complain about an interior is silly. LFA interior is outdated? Fit and finish and build quality , silent cabin . Is500 does all those things perfect. I sell cars , I’ve been in M6 ‘s that make a million noises , hard plastic pieces making noise , car worth 40k with 40k miles. HUH??????
been watching for years now and im still waiting for the "C7z06 review" to pop up, lol.
Maybe one day! Gotta find an owner with one now
That exterior is to die for 😂
the interior is to die in because its so ancient 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Brianuwu622 wow, you really cooked with that one 🙄
@@ARentz07 It wasn’t funny
But was true
@@YourAverageCarFan eh. Coming from a 2016 IS, the newer interior is sure not as old as that. Especially the screen. My goodness, that older screen just looks horrible now.
@@ARentz07 Lexus really has to work on the interiors
Compares in price and performance much better with an m340i. I drove one and even though I think the quality goes well beyond what a spec sheet shows, I still went with BMW. No regrets
My only wish is that they got rid of the track pad already. Other than that it is one of the best out there
Track pad is a mess, I agree
Watching this video I just realized he was taking the same route I take to school
looks good, drives good, sounds good and the price is Ok.
They did really well making the fake engine audio sound pretty good in this car.
You have the Demon 170 and the CT5-V Blackwing, do you have a bigger family car or just those 2 cars
1994 Toyota Land Cruiser too
Would you rather have the CT4V blackwing 10 speed or IS500 for a daily driver?? Since you have reviewed both.
IS500 over the 10 spd CT4, but maybe CT4 Manual over the IS500. It would be close
Can you do a lexues es 350 please
LOL you made another lexus is500 review again?? guess you just had to, but dont blame ya at all...testament to how great of a vehicle the IS500 is
Yea, I felt a "living with" video was deserved to show a little more of the practical side
2020 BMW alpina B7 twin turbo V8 ???
Seems like you’re paying for a V8 and Toyota/Lexus reliability. Small cabin, kind of outdated and not a lot of features that you would think you would get at this price point
So it doesn't have a HUD or wireless CarPlay. But it has pretty much everything else you can get in the competitors. What features are you looking for, exactly?
Toyotas are hella reliable, tf you mean
@@ARentz07 I agree with you and would go a step further. It's got buttons and knobs, which makes it ergonomically better than some of its competitors. That CD player is also a plus for me.
exactly the kind of things I’d pay for haha. Reliability + V8 + physical buttons interior
That perfectly sums it up, if its not broke don't fix it mentality that they got lol
Bring back the IS Wagon
I'd take black wing any day tbh
Maybe in 5 years used I'll buy one, how is it that it still has a cd player? lol
Can we expect to see another demon 170 video in the near future 😅
Yep! Next week: Demon 170 v CT5 Blackwing
How's that working going for the m8 gran coupe
They don't have one in the media fleet, but when they get one, I'll be sure to review it
@@MilesPerHr nice, but any idea how long that will take
This car cost the same $ as BMW 340i but axed the Mark Levinson speakers an IS350 F sport is equipped with?
No ,mine came with it ML system.
Despite having the SAME engine as the LC500, Lexus for some UNKNOWN reason decided to pump fake engine sounds through the speakers instead giving the IS500 a proper exhaust.
*FREAKIN' WHY????????????*
You know you can turn it off right?😂
@@MrLapley yep! My point is, why does it even exist to begin with? A valved exhaust would have cost little to nothing.

☝️
The v8 isn’t really a saving grace for the is because you can get a v8 in a mustang that sounds just as good if not better and performs better at a lower cost
Mustang isn’t gonna be as reliable for daily use. Also depreciation is a major thing with Fords…
@@Uruieie Mustangs are very reliable cars, I dont see why you'd pay $30k more for an IS 500 unless you needed four doors
The IS will out live the Mustang…not so sure about cost…once you factor insurance for a 2 door.
@@dacuse2009 what makes you blindly think the mustang v8 is unreliable?
