What If a Drop of Water Fell to the Earth at the Speed of Light?

  • A droplet of water is tiny and harmless - or is it? But what if a drop of water reached the speed of light and smashed into Earth? The result could be irreversible. In this video we're gonna show you how something as tiny as a drop of water can reach record speed and cause a lot of danger and destruction to our Solar System.

    At the speed of light the mass of the drop will become infinite... But it would also have taken an infinite amount of energy to push it to the speed of light. One of the reasons that things with mass cannot reach the speed of light!

    There is a lot of mistakes. Both classic and relativistic physics.
    First, how does the sound will travel in the pipe if there is a void, remember is a mechanic wave, so it won't travel thru the void.
    Second, to make some thing with goes as the speed of light, you will need infinite energy.
    Third, when accelerate things at speed that are pretty close to the speed of light (such as we do in the particle accelator where we accelerate charged particles with mass) they don't gain mass, they gain energy. That's a very common misunderstanding thing about special relativity. According to the theory the "relativistic mass" is defined by M= m_o (1/sqrt(1-((v)/(c) )^2 so when the velocity of the particle approch to the c, the relativistic mass increase, but that only means that the particle have more energy but m_o (the mass of the particle in rest) remains constant. That's why we don't create black hokes in the particle accelators .
    And there so many many misunderstanding of physics and wrong theories in this video. Unfortunately it disappoint me .
    So you know guys, don't believe everything you see in internet.

    We only know the 2-way speed of light. Meaning, we’ve only calculated the speed of light after being reflected. This could mean that light travels faster when going a certain direction, but I guess we’ll never really know.

  • @jamiedunham131
    @jamiedunham131 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I'm a bit confused... If the water droplet of light erased the pipe wouldn't it eventually too slow down or evaporate at that point anyways? Another thing we have light everywhere so if it was enough to form light in the first place wouldn't it have just fazed through us or the earth at that point? I'm not trying to second guess you and your video was intriguing I will admit that I was just adding my own questions from what I learned in school growing up and the knowledge that is placed out there now. I don't have all the facts about space and time and light and dark so I'm no super genious so I might have missed something in that gap. Still as confused as I am this gave me chills and knowing humans being ever curious I wouldn't be surprised if there was a scientist out there thinking about this experiment right now, you could be a scientist for all I know hahaha! Sorry just trying to make light of things. {--- get it? Guess we should look on the bright side of things... Okay I will stop now.

    But i kinda wondered if our sunsystem was on a p type typle star system place where should the habitable zone be and how does a p type triple star system affect day/night and wether?
    Calculated the year already and it would take 9 years to orbit the suns.
    Also calculated montss and number of weeks.
    For the contunents i was planning that they have a Australia like weather.
    I personally think Jupiter and Saturn would be in the habitable zone if our sun was a p type triple star system. What do you think about this planet?
    Again this planet is for a fanfic i am working on and contains inteligent life form. The spiecies is Alita battle angel/Borg(Star Trek) like. What do you think?

Also, even if the Earth did become a black hole, no planets nor the sun would no the difference - as long as the mass of the earth didn’t change, you’d have the same gravitational force as Earth currently has. Nothing to see here! (Facepalm , sigh)
