Wow ❤🎉
I always loved that Mihawk grows to respect Zoro. He sees the conviction and the heart, and then Zoro refusing to run and take the cut to the back sealed it. He took the loss like a man and swordsman. Mihawk respects that.
Mihawk would kill him by choping his head if he wanted to or would use haki and destroyed him in a second bu he didn't . He was genuinely surprized by his bravery and honor. He purposely left him alive so they can meet again once he gets stronger
@@samir.xanmuradov didnt you just repeat what the comment said but with different words lmao
Fr lol
@@samir.xanmuradov He didnt left him alive he gave him the chance of survive which is different, the wound inflicted on Zoro is like 99.99% mortal but he managed to survive by sheer determination
@@CarlosGarcia-nl8jj it's not like he sliced through his ribs or heart. Actually in real sword fights people used go get a cut like this by katana and survive very often. Its the blood loss that kills the victim not the cut to the chest skin. If treated properly its 99% he will survive. On the other hand a giat sword like this should have sliced him in two pieces , right? Thats why i think Mihawk let him survive on purpose
"I don't hunt rabbits with a cannon." That line goes so hard.
right? i dont remember it from the manga but damn that disrespectful shit mustve been more painful than the slash that came after 😂😂
idk, I miss the original line. Though I'm just nitpicking
The disrespect when he says "your just a frog croaking in a well, croak croak croak."
@@aanthonyy_ it's from the manga
@@yursan9 i thought he said something about zoro just being a frog in the well😂😂guess that was a nice reminder
The Mihawk actor definitely took the role to heart.
So you're saying he made the cut.
@@arklaw8306 Yes. A piercing performance.
I personally disagree with this. The anime Mihawk has a sense of superiority and looks down on others because he knows he's better. His gaze makes you feel like prey in the eyes of a hawk. How he talks to you is merely boasting of his own strength and superiority but he will give you respect and try to inspire you if he sees potential. "I'm not a beast who goes all out against a rabbit" is merely saying he's too strong and doesn't have to use his full strength. The live action one tries to hit a similar personality but does it the wrong way. He goes about his superiority by belittling others. It's not a "I'm too strong for you" it's a "You're too weak for me" sort of thing instead. "I don't hunt rabbits with a cannon" is basically just calling him a rabbit and saying that he's too weak for it. Then anime mihawk has a sternness and seriousness to him. Live action has a constant sass and pettiness about him. It's sort of like arriving at the same sort of destination but taking different routes and the routes sculpt the character. Is live action mihawk above you? Yes. But does he have a personality that makes you want to respect him and surpass him out of it? No.

Cant act. Bunch of cosplayers
The casting for Zoro and Mihawk was perfect. It’s exactly what I imagined on how these characters would look if they were suddenly thrust into our reality.
Mihawk yes, live action Zoro looks like he belongs in an emo boys band. The fighting styles and moves at least are keeping close to the comic.
If you think this zoro is "perfect", clearly you're a casual who didn't watch/read the first chapters of onepiece. Zoro was goofy in the early part of the series, not an edgy-emo-try-hard-to-be-sasuke character like this one..

I love how this duel creates some real drama and human reactions amongst the crew.
It had Water 7 vibes.
That’s not for a awhile now if we get season 2
@@ZephyrBW I know Water 7 is far. But in those moments there were some elements of tension and questions of Luffy as a captain that reminded me of Water 7. And it made all the sense to me.

Zoro gave the black guy the most gruesome death in the first season.
zoro more like cut a blackman, king, pica,mr.1, 🗿
He was a simple job recruiter offering Zoro employment, there was no need to cut him in half.
@@Pjam who the fk cares. It was a BW agent. Fk them.
Watching this fight in live action made me realize how extremely bloody most of Zoro's fights were in the manga. It annoyed me at first but then I realized if he lost that much blood in real life (like he did against Mihawk or Mr. 1 for example), he would definitely die. Makes me appreciate how the live action tries its best to balance between realism and fantasy
Except its a big deal that Zoro loses that much blood. Like, yes. Losing that much blood would kill you. Losing it in One Piece would kill you. Characters are freaked out to learn that he somehow, apparently through sheer willpower, survived an injury like that.
The live action wound was fine, but Zoro was almost cut in half.
@@scifimisc9191 yeah but in One Piece they take it waaaayy too far sometimes, like the Mr. 1 fight where he would've been slashed to ribbons. Also all of Zoro's enemies he faced would've actually died in real life from being cut down like that

Oda had a direct hand in the casting
Mihawk just literally came out of the anime to act in the live action.
People should consider Oda's involvement in this at his age revisiting some of the earliest One Piece chapters 20-30 years later. We are witnessing how Oda is approaching his work knowing what he knows now. Which is wonderful to see.
Oda really said fuck Don Kreig lol
@@triple-d2640lol Don Krieg died like a bitch. But it made Mihawk going to Baratie make way more sense.
Oda is not worth of cheering and people need to understand that One Piece is NOTHING but a story of a random guy named luffy who was secretly the chosen one who is surprisingly also a god and no rubberman.
Dude wrote a story from 14th Century lmao and people still acting like YOOOO ODA IS INSANE LOOK AT ONE PIECE LETS GOOOO.

Thing is, now that we know about haki, we know that Mihawk could just stand there and tank Zoro's strikes and they'd do nothing to him. He's not dodging because he has to. He's dodging because it's cool.
its also to prove that he actually has the skill to be a swordsman and not that the difference was relied with haki
"I don't hunt rabbits with a cannon." Using Haki would like using a nuke in this case lol
@@jairgsjuniorwell I think here is kind of implied he is using a bit of haki with that butter knife right? From the way he just sends zoro flying with just twisting his wrist....
@@svz1345 Nah, characters from One Piece can achieve inhuman amounts of physical strength without the need of haki. There is a limit that only can be surpassed by using Haki of course, but making Zoro fly away is more that possible without it.
@@svz1345 no he doesnt use haki
he is testing zoros sword skill
otherwise would be meaningless
I just think it's missing Zoro's desperation and panic upon realizing just how much stronger Mihawk is compared to him, this Zoro is too calm and stoic for his own good
Agree. And in the LA it would've been even more impactful because here he is even more stoic than he normally is in the manga/anime. They should've made him loose his cool completely and cry like a baby after he lost. It would've been a great contrast to his normal self, which is the reason why in the Manga is so impactful.
@@svz1345 Totally, One Piece is known for it's super exagerated silly comical expressions and also a lot of crying, and I don't mean crying, I mean UGLY snot waterworks let-it-all-out crying. I really hope they incorporate more of that moving forward because I loved that emotional punch element of it 🤔
Yea, here it looks like he accepted his death from the very beginning, no mental struggle
@@felipeaguena5289 Do you realize how stupid that would feel/look in Live Action?

His fight with mihawk is what opened his eyes on how weak he is actually and actually broke his confidence, he didn't even sound desperate being unable to land a single hit on mihawk
Even if no expression, at least his thought to himself should make it
Still, mihawk's actor acting here is superb
The manga and the anime put for focus on how much Mihawk can humilliate Zorro, the Live Adaptation put more focus on how cool Mihawk can be. Which is not bad, very good perspective difference imo.

finally an anime that is well adapted i think the mix of asian and western actors helps and it is spoken in english
I recall there was an interview with Oda where every Straw Hat was imagined from a country from Earth. I only remember Luffy was Brazil, Zoro was Japan, and Franky was American, but every crew member had one. I imagine this is what the nationalities of the actors were drawing inspiration from and will continue to draw from when future characters are introduced.

@@thelordoflemonzJinbei is Indian if I remember right.
I love Mihawk so much, probably my favorite portrayal in this adaptation, he nails his coolness and confidence to a T yet is very honorable. my only gripe with this scene is that the 3000 worlds attack he's starting isn't actually doing anything. he starts spinning the swords but when he runs towards Mihawk he just holds them steady in his hands again, what was the point of spinning them then lmao. but that's just a small detail, loved this fight!
Gayyyyyyyy
I think the point of the spin is to confuse his enemy, not dice him up. They even focus on mihawks eyes when zoro spins his swords. Its so that mihawk has less time to react to zoros moves i think. Its more of a visual shield that an attack. Spinning swords is a dumb move anyway
In the anime Zoro didnt even finish to extend his sword after he did the spinning because Mihawk got to him quickly. But yeah I get what you mean with the show, all that spinning was anticlimactic
I mean a few of Zoros moves aren't physically possible in real life. Oni giri is definitely one of them.
Personally I think that's some kind of technical limitations, maybe with the bigger budget after this success they can make it better next season
I love how much more they emphasized Mihawk's boredom and apathy towards weak opponents. My man is so done with anyone who isn't even remotely on his level he massacred a fleet for disturbing his nap.
You guys are fast.
That is what I want to say 🤣
This was done amazingly well. Reminded me a little of the Rurouni Kenshin live action fights, well choreographed and with enough realism on it, also the actors totally nailed their roles. The only problem I had was they didn't include Mihawk's first part of the taunt.
"Sorry, this is the smallest blade i've got".
Other than that it was perfect.
This shit is stupid like i thought it would be
Same actor
Yeah, Mackenyu played Enishi there
Ok. What bizarro world am I living in where Netflix does a highly satisfying adaptation of such a legendary first meeting. One Piece live action has no business being this good.
Remember this part and I was so scared when Zoro "died"
I absolutely LOVE this part right here
1:41
It shows that even after getting completely humiliated(by everyone else’s standards) Luffy still trusts in Zoros strength to overcome the obstacle ahead.
Luffy DID think Zoro was gonna win which breaks my heart when he replies to nami
“I didn’t think he would lose” 🥹🥺🥹💙
THIS is why I love One Piece!!
This Mihawk is better than the one in the anime, THERE I SAID IT! HE IS PERFECTIONNNNNNNNN
Understandable
I still can't believe this live action comes from Netflix, it's so good.
Sanji needed to witness this fight. It was important because this helped and inspired him when it came to making the decision to join the crew. Sanji joined the crew in the LA series far too easily.. I didnt like it because the way he joined in the manga was so much more meaninful. We at least needed a scene of Zeff telling luffy to take Sanji.
Agreed I was missing Sanji here
Nah. The direction they took here works with the live action
Sanji joining was still meaningful
@@gintoki_sakata__ it really wasnt. the episode moments were taken up by the fishmen and mihawk. sanji needed to be inspired to follow his dream like he did in the manga by hearing zeff ask luffy to take sanji, as well as seeing zoro vs mihawk.
instead it felt like he had an argument with zeff and just left. we needed a couple of minutes to get sanji to that point. apart from that, the zeff goodbye was flawless.
@@coreym8145you probably never had a discussion like this. But it is more real
@@coreym8145 It was though. We had our luffy and sanji talking moments during the episodes about him following his dream and cooking how he wants to cook. Also zeff and sanji argued since zeff aint the type to be sweet with him this is how zeff is honest with him. He wanted sanji to follow his dream as well even if it meant getting in a argument. Its not until sanji is leaving that each of them stop trying to be so hard with one another and give their emotional goodbye.
Lots of people say that Buggy's cast was perfect, and they are right. BUT MIHAWK IS ALSO 10/10
Zeff tho. Bro doesn't even need the outfit and that Beard/Mustache thingy and he would still look like Zeff. No matter how much you look at it, the bro is Zeff. Zeff was made based on the actor fr bruh like damn.
@@mr.cheese7339 True, he's great as well
Really? I didn't liked Buggy at all. Arlong was also pretty weak, robotic Zoro was weak, etc.. the casting was very good overall, but there's some flaws here and there
I think Nami was nailed as well. Usopp isn't horrible but they are writing him to be more crazy than he really is.
mihawk acting was a very nice surprise
My gawd never thought Mihawk casting could be this perfect.
Now that you think about it... it makes sense that zoro only goes after minorities. Mihawks black sword wooped his ass so hard he had no choice but to turn racist. Mihawk out there layin down the culture.

Lol your comments 😂
He killed a black guy before this lol

I love how Mihawk in this version recognizes and references Luffy’s hat.
He knows the hat. There is no way Shanks hasn’t told him about it
In my thoughts these few years watching One Piece either anime or current live action, Mihawk wants to find his predecessors & Roronoa Zoro was one of his, or else why did he trained him.
Do you mean successor?
I think his vivre card say he was someone stronger than shanks to fight him, to rival him , because its lonely at the top
@@randomduck8679 it's more like the next greatest swordsman because Mihawk himself already the successor. Like he's trying to find someone equal to him besides Shanks, and Zoro it's the next one (New Generation) before the current title. The reason why Mihawk trained him because Zoro has biggest goal than becoming the greatest swordsman, that is to be become stronger for his Captain & crew.
Mihawk is usually bored. So when he sees guys like Zoro or Luffy that are willing to do anything for their dreams, he gets interested.
Also when he sees Zoro willing to give up his pride for Luffy when he asks him to train him.
Mihawk won't be around one day. And there's more swordsmen popping up every day wanting to prove themselves. Eventually one of them will kill Mihawk.
If Vista is any indication there are people who can take Mihawk in a fight. They may lose but Mihawk would struggle.
And I guess one day. Zoro will kill Mihawk and become the next Strongest Swordsman.
The best actors in the series were Mihawk and Buggy. Couldn't have found better people to portray them
10/10 this is the also popular and most important for Zoro’s character development.
too bad zoro's character is acting like he ALREADY WENT THROUGH THIS SHIT... -_- maybe it's because his fights got removed from live action like octo pop. ;(
@@Darkyahwehyou missed the point when Zoro said he wanted to win Mihawk in just one battle. He already knew how strong Mihawk was, at least in this LA version.
They litterally cut Zoro's character development in this fight. What are you talking about.
本当にリアルの海賊の話をやってるみたいで正直好き。原作は海賊漫画なのに海賊要素があんまりないから実写は違った意味で面白い
I really hope they’ll show us some cool choreography for fight scenes in the future if they get next season, especially for Zoro. This dude Mackenyu already prove himself that he can pull off intense stunt action in Rurouni Kensin live action as Enishi
He killed it in the film and he is the perfect fit for Zoro.
Good thing that Zoro never loses his sense of direction when fighting
This fight was so great but my friend had a little nitpick i can't fault him for. Even though the fight isn't a challenge for him the fact Mihawk met someone like Zoro who is willing to die for his dream and is a swords man in the true sense made him excited and it would have been even more cool to have a small glimpse of emotion near the end. Other that that amazing.
Emotion in what way?
Nonsense. Even in the manga there was no emotion in Mihawk's face.
@samarendra109 in his face no but he did show him respect by asking his name and saying he hadn't fought someone as strong as him in a long time
@@lowellshadow Soooooo, That's the point? OP is saying Mihawk showing no emotion is an issue, which I am saying is not. You are just saying I am correct.
I mean zoro already introduced himself the night before so asking his name would be pointless and he did call him strong for east blue standards atleast he even showed respect by cutting him with Yoru like in the manga could he show a bit more emotion? Maybe but it really isn’t a big deal Mihawk is a man of action using Yoru and letting Zoro live proves he respects him
I loved that they show Mihawk recognizing Shank's straw hat
2:05 damn i was hoping for the smile, which apperently signified Mihawk finally having acknowledginh zoro
Honestly the fighting is amazing, I didn't expect this match in anime live action the casting is insane.. I would like to see more sweat and emotion on zoro but it's still good

The way that knife looks in live action is as if it was specifically made for humiliating noobs 😂
this is my most favorite sene in the live action.
God I hope they carry on and make it to marineford, what an arc that would be made into live action.
Im not ready to see ace die in live action
I'm ace portgas fan, I wonder who they will cast for the fire fist
If done right and given enough budget. It could be on par with lord of the rings battles.
I genuinely hope this series can be finished, idc how long it takes.
Maybe marine ford will be movie for this live action
I understand why the handled Zoro the way they did in the live action. It's hard to do the three sword style considering how much pressure and weight is applied to one's jaw
I feel like this adaption shows us what Oda would change about the story with his current experience. Despite some entitled fans crying about how its not 1:1 copy, I think the changes made make perfect sense and don't interfere with the story and plot. Garp's involvement from early on makes SO MUCH sense with how Koby's development follows, Mihawk's appearance is given more weight and Zoro not using the 3 swords right away is equivalent to Mihawk's "butterknife" level of mockery.
People complain that the LA takes itself too seriously, but from what the producers and Oda said, thats exactly why he agreed into making an adaption. He wants to tell the tale of One Piece with less goofiness which would look cringe in live action form anyway.
I wish people get off their high horse and appreciate this show, it truly is a work that should be respected and its easy to tell that the production and cast LOVE One Piece.
Amazing!
the moment zoro said wound in the back is swordman greatest shame you see in the eyes of mihawk he have respect to him
Mihawk is as white as the moon, hence the minority hunter buff did not activated
Mihawk would be dead if he had full body haki like Vergo

Gettin' chills here!
It's not a 1 for 1 adaptation, but it doesn't have to be.
Wow, they brought Mihawk to life.
Mihawk is cool here just like in the anime. Man I love this scene
I love the camera work. It almost felt like a dancer, it that makes sense
Both actors are so good and intense, a real treat
Live action Mihawk is literally the spitting image of Mihawk himself. Surpassed my expectation and more!
This is the only fight I really wanted to see
Zoro is a guy who always keep his cool, but in this situation he needs to show agreesion and emotion, cry if he can while remembering his past.
I'm usually not a fan of live action anime, but I'll admit, I'm hooked with this one.
I like luffy's "come on"
On my own opinion they should put more intense on these fight scene to make it more interesting to watch my point is giving such effect like windblows when crossing swords and sparks to determine force and friction for both fighters and also give more a dynamic perspective on the fight scenes so it will not be like a theater play to watch. Im not a director to say such words but normally this kind of quality is what we always see on a entry level action film nowadays.
I by other hand like the way it was made, such friction would indicate that Zoro was in some level away from Mihawk, but the truth is that Zoro is much, much below Mihawk and wouldn't generate tension to him.
The fighting should have been adapted.
Lots of moves are clearly inefficient irl and thus can't let us imagine any real impact.
But even effective moves looks floaty in this movie tho. Plus where blood !?! I need my blood !!!!
There not gonna be enough no matter what lol
this is simultaneously super cheesy and super awesome amazing i love it
I loved how they still kept mihawk’s beard design and tiny dagger
Mihawk so hot and strong with his long sword like in anime. ❤
Why does it actually look like these two know something about fighting? That exchange around 0:45 was really smooth.
If i remember, the actor for zoro had actual martial art training for a previous live action series he was on and it help translate into this role

Grande Épico! same vibe from the anime
The actor who play Mihawk really portray him well
I must be alone in not liking mihawks portrayal. He’s so arrogant and diva’ish. Doesnt at all seem impressed by zoros perseverence, just a sarcastic “magnificent” before idly slashing him to near death..
In the manga and anime, he was actually impressed and excited by zoros “will”, and his character isnt at all arrogant, just kinda distant and stern
Amazing especially when the third sword got out.
This live action of Mihawk makes me wonder how other Seven Warlords are gonna look like. Along with *The Four Empires, Revelationay Army, and the Worst Generation* along with the rest of the Marines
Including giant characters like Big Mom & Hajurin
I wonder how much they can fit it into one box
Note: So, i only have a SMALL complaint with this. And it's the line deliveries from Zoro. I didn't watch the Neflix Show but in the Anime, Zoro was a lot more...direct and agressive. His voice was harsher and much more antagonistic. Instead of saying "I'm not rabbit." quietly, zoro said "That's enough making fun of me!" which is much more in-line with what Zoro's character is at this point in the story.
Love you
I had the same issue. It's as if he's playing it too safe, but it makes the delivery underwhelming for me. It's not as threatening as anime zoro feels.
They ruined zoros character.. how do you feel about the rest of the cast?

I think this was almost perfectly adapted. The only thing I missed from the manga was Mihawk smiling when saying "magnificent", I found it a nice touch of acknowledgment from an otherwise so cold character.
Wow... This was pretty good.
Not as energetic or fluid as the anime version, but still. This was a pretty good live action adaptation/recreation. I'm impressed.
I love this. My only grievance would be that I wish zoro would have been more expressive. He's a bit overly subtle for my liking and quiet but nonetheless, loved the show
I guess he is robotic in the show because the actor sucks, simple as it is. Maybe he is one of those "martial artists" kind of actors who knows how to strike poses (even if he is skinny, Usopp is bulkier than Zoro, which is extremely ironic), but he doesn't know how to properly act as a human being
@@RRRRRRRRR33😂 you are so wrong. In fact he is a good actor, he just portrays the character as cold and cool. I said that because I did not know him before One Piece but I like his character in OP a lot. After that I found to watch his other films where he showed a lot of expressions. He gained some acting prizes in Japan. He is not robotic, he looks real as cold and quiet people out there. You may not like his character but not means he is a bad actor 😅😅😅😅
@@trantho9891 Go watch the early episodes of the anime, Zoro actually gets desperate in this fight, which is a natural behavior. If the director and writers had any confidence this dude can deliver, they would have written this scene differently. However, the guy is a zombie. When the fight ends and he makes a promise to Luffy, it's ridiculous, the dude is not convincing at all. There's a difference between the overacting from Luffy, who is supposed to be a caricature anyway, compared to "human" characters such as Nami, Zoro, Usopp, etc.. none of them are truly great (I would say the Sanji actor delivered, he looked good, even if he didn't had much screen time). This live-action Zoro looks like time-skip Zoro, he is more poser than ever, cold, apathetic... the character kinda devolved with time
Ok not trying to hate cause I do like the show …, but Zoro’s character needs to NOT act so serious through out this first season… cause him going from goofy to serious makes it for a far more intense scene once he decides to get serious …. But him going serious all season to more serious …, that doesn’t hit as hard.
The swords breaking up into multiple pieces is actually pretty cool.
What I love about this series, is it doesn't drag on on what the full extent of someone's abilities are, they show off it a bit, try to win with it, and either win or lose in the end, this show shows off what they can do of course, but they do just the right amount for it, to not feel dragged on or a sense of, "is this guy finished pulling shit out of his ass!" Now I love one piece, not get me wrong, but unless you read the manga in an entire setting, or a whole volume at a time, then the story feels like it drags alot
Viewing from the creators perspective, man how difficult to create a live action based off of an anime. So many talented people in the world!
This is a 100 times better than any Marvel fight scene. It just goes to show you don’t need to rely on only special effects.
I know everyone’s hating on Marvel right now (in large part due to superhero movie fatigue) but that’s not true, c’mon. The fight scenes in “CA: Winter Soldier” (among others) were incredibly well choreographed.
Lol man what are you on about this fight is really cool but I can at least name 10 marvel fights that are better some from phase 4 and 5 even
Shang chi and captain America vs bucky already done it. Lol
Cut the BS 😂
Jesus Christ, gay take
1:07 i love how the other two are just pokered face
No cap....Him using the knife wasnt on my Bingo card. Thought it was too silly....but hell....They Nailed It.
Bro how they gonna do brook and chopper💀
I like how the actor looks for Zoro....but his acting is cringe.
@@zenloth3726thats why u watch it on Japanese dub 🎉🎉
@@zenloth3726people wants him to cry a lot 😅
That man is most assuredly still alive
I find I don't mind Zoro holding off on using Santoryu until the end. It makes it easier on the actor and makes a degree of sense.
Ultra god
The one critique I did have about this scene was how they shortened Mohawk’s speech at the end; I get when you adapt stuff not EVERYTHING is going to be on there but this scene in particular is so impactful and shows how much the Straw Hats have to gain if they are going to win
But it’s the fact that Mihawk is openly encouraging Zoro to come and find him and the speech of encouragement he gave at the end was truly solid; but the casting was perfect so I can try and suffice for thaf
Dracule Mihawk is my favorite because he reminds me of another legendary swordsman named Vampire Hunter D. I wish it would get a live action someday. I would cry 😭
