Mihawk showing Zoro has come far, but no far enough just yet. I always love how he portray's his strength over time to Zoro, giving him smaller goals to reach until time the time comes for their final fight.
Mihawk really demonstrated what Zoro's sensei said about cutting and not cutting. He sliced that whole meteor up in seconds, and didn't hit Zoro in the process.

I feel you but I think it’s more that he can’t stick around to fight top tiers because he’s probably the most destructive DF user if he ever went all out. Him being as wise and peaceful as he is, leaves before he’s forced into an all out fight. Kinda sucks though because it makes people think he’s a weaker character than he is.

This is what I love about zoro and mihawk’s relationship. Zoro wants to be the best but his biggest obstacle is mihawk. Zoro is always trying to get stronger to help his captain and friends, but he’s still very weak compared to the best. Mihawk is at the very top and sneaked into the series far too early simply because he was bored and wanted to cause a one sided little fight. Mihawk can’t find anyone who is capable of beating him since he’s the best and zoro is still learning at a very quick pace. And zoro should learn slowly because one day very possibly, he will be able to defeat his final obstacle and take the name of the best swordsman. But he’s still only 21, which is very young for a fighter. Mihawk was 19 in the roger execution remake and he was still sporting his current look. We have no idea if his Yoru is the greatest or one of the greatest swords or how he got them or anything at all about him. From the way oda does things, something tells when zoro does defeat mihawk, we’ll get mihawk’s backstory and how he came to be who he is.
Mihawk is the epitome of swordmanship, as a wise and powerful swordmaster said.. "A slice so masterful that the object in front doesnt even realize its being cut while destroying the object behind it"
