Thank you Mr. Mahbubani for your expertise on the world issues and you are the voice of ASEAN. From your perspective and your experienced from Singapore government position and to UN, I can say not so many world politicians can fully understand China. Whatever the West throw at China, unfortunately most the world don’t see China as threat but to work together with China. The West talks so much about war but China talks about growth and improving the people livelihood. Yes, it not perfect but most people are safe and happy.

It is a threat to the usd domince, thereby usa or west dominance, and a choice for many nations to break out of the cage imposed by the unipolar world. Now that is definitely a threat to the world order, as many will get out of line.

Chinese culture is peace n harmonious living with each other n the universe. Thus respect for all beings n the universe is the key principle. The leaderships are walking their talks. Unlike the collective West led by the so called Americanos politicians who lied n cheated n selfish greed for own self historically n don't walk their talks or ??!! 👀🤑💰💸🧐🤔🤡🥳

@GOH Siew Hau It is not about cheating or being selfish actually. It is about keeping lucrative system that extract 'life blood' to keep going. Without such life blood, it will 'die'. So it is about survival. Imagine yourself a MOB head feared by all others, and they pay up- knowingly or otherwise through the USD world reserve system.

The "big" countries want you to have democracy as your form of government, not because they love you, but it is easier for them to manipulate you (or interfere in your elections) by meddling in your own domestic politics.

Mahbubani on why ASEAN is more geopolitcal competent than Europe which he describes as geopolitcally incompetent because of war happening in Europe now. The difference between ASEAN and EU is one group is totally subservient to US geopolitical interest (besides NATO, trade, technological, financial issues). Despite boasting about their democratic and liberal values, there is no strategic independence. For example, when Nordstream 2 was blown up, not a whisper from Germany and EU on which countries are responsible. ASEAN basically politely tell the US that we are not interested in siding with you as we want to be neutral and friends with both. Africa is doing the same infact South Africa is even courageous in telling off the US.

Three lessons, how not to do a video for rest of the world to see.
    1) If the host is late. Cut those minutes out, before you upload the video.
    2) Ban people to ask long winded questions. Send them to special training sessions first.
    3) Viewers don't need to see 25 faces on screen. That's the worst distraction, which improved slightly after 45 minutes.
As expected, Kishore saved this meeting with his insightful views.

BRI is a substantible environmental transit network and global growth network enhancement. Not a conquer the world project like the West portraited. It is a project to grow the pie of the world bigger and increase the size of middle class in the world. Imagine how many cars and planes trips could be replaced by high speed electric trains. Countries in Asia don't like and don't want wars. They like to solve problems diplomaticly, often through private talks between countries. They understand NATO is trying to create instability in the region. They are trying to resist it as much as they can. Sorry to say, western media narratives created a very narrow biased view in their people.

US competition is based on the Tonya Harding strategy, crippling your opponent. The US strategic competitions are economic sanctions, technology sanctions, diplomatic pressure, and military alliances. They have no serious policies to address domestic issues such as income inequality, healthcare, education, racial inequality, infrastructure, housing affordability and homelessness, the opioid epidemic, and gun violence.
In the past, there was a direct correlation between a country's population size and its wealth. Countries with larger populations tended to be wealthier. However, this correlation has changed with the advancement of technology. With each new wave of technology, productivity has increased, and countries with smaller populations have been able to achieve dominant economies through technological advances.
The Belt and Road Initiative is a multi-generational effort aimed at ensuring that all countries have access to these advances and can reach their full economic potential, regardless of population size. This is achieved by fostering interconnectivity and promoting economic growth among nations.
Economic growth alone is not enough to ensure equitable benefits for all. Each country must have policies that promote fairness and ensure that the benefits of economic growth are widely distributed.
Countries that have yet to experience the benefits of technological advances have a strong motivation for the success of the Belt and Road Initiative. About 78% of the countries of the world have joined the BRI, and a handful of them are developed countries.
Countries that have already benefited from advanced technologies see restricting the spread of technology as a way to maintain their edge in the global arena. They are gifting their shared values, rules-based order, democracy, freedom, and human rights to the less developed countries rather than helping to build water, electricity, education, healthcare, sanitation, transportation, and communication infrastructure.
China is largely unsuccessful in its efforts to encourage developed countries to join the BRI. China hopes that its Global Development Initiative (GDI) will convince them. China also hopes its Global Security Initiative (GSI) will ease their apprehensions about China's intention.

As an 86 year Goan Indian American born raised & educated in India -50years an - Elec Engineer and 36 years in Georgia US, & NOT a politician like Kishore & certainly not having his great reputation, my humble opinion is that Kishore sounds to me like a smooth Sindhi car salesman who says 1) he loves the US & wants to give them “ wise advice” & 2) that China has only “goodwill towards the world”. But as an ex-Indian like me, he should be aware that China wants a “ one China Policy” for itself but does NOT want a “one India Policy” for India - has brutally occupied Previously Autonomous TIBET & now parts of the Indian Himalayas- 100,000 Indian- Chinese troops are presently facing each other there on the LAC eyeball to eyeball at the moment & war can breakout between the two if this persists.
India got its Independence in 1947 after not “ 100 years of humiliation” but almost 200 years of humiliation by the same colonial powers that China had endured. So Kishore talks as if this “humiliation” happened only to China and not to the whole of Asia & Africa.
This selective opinion shows his bias towards China - why I can’t fathom- does book sales have something to do with it ?
The Communist Peoples Republic of China was established by Mao in 1949. At that time India & China had about the same GDP- however the U.S. switched its allegiance from from the KMT (30 million?)to the the over 1 billion PRC ( bigger future market for its goods) & then collaborated with Communist Dictatorial China over “democratic India “ - much against its “freedom & democratic principles” with heavy investment by its companies in China thus raising its present GDP to 6x times India’s - near 19 trillion U.S. $ that it is today.
Of course China’s hard working people & Autocratic Govt’s had much to do with it verses Indias “ democratic & easy going people” - something I prefer- with 1.4 billion people & 2.4 billion opinions. India will catch up but will take another 20 years- with its intelligent & enterprising people with its more than 4000 year civilization - of which Kishore should be aware of.

No one is so rational, rather selfish and greedy. At least I would be jealous of any promotion of my colleagues or any my rich neighbors. Same do with those Chinese neighboring countries, except big envying and worry from USA and Japan. No one is willing to reduce their share in world economy pie.

Kishore Mahbubani came across very confident as recently as three or four years ago. More and more he sounds desperate to make his points.

I don't see any desperation here, only the desperation of others trying to undermine him.

The main difference with Mahbubani in the past 3-4 years is that he now calls out the west for its “Yellow Peril mindset” (aka racism) and Anglo-Saxon media as trash. It irks the Anglos.

Professor Mahbubani presents himself very well and puts his points across without offending anyone who poses questions to him. He handled the awkward points raised by the host very diplomatically too.

As an 86 year Goan Indian American in Georgia US & 49 years in India & 36 in the US - I would say that Kishore suffers from a guilt complex when he says he is wants to “advice” the U S for its own good, but seems to think that China is right. That sounds like a lot of “Sindhi” double talk. Just as India’s greatest Prime Minister during my time in India was charmed by China & Chou-en-lai after Indias Independence in 1947, & thought the 2x Asian giants (with the worlds largest population) could cooperate for the benefit of mankind only to be stabbed in the back by Chinas invasion of Unprepared India in 1962, & hindering its progress in every way politically, so also will Kishore have to eat his words- in spite of the “ high opinion” most have of his past accomplishments, unfortunately I doubt his sincerity- I regret having to say so.

you have become white but dark outside .US has being stealing resources from countries and bully ,Us wants to be top dog in the world Just t look at how America treat the people in Chagos island turned it into a base and has a huge nuclear submarine in Indian Ocean and dumped the islanders from Chagos Island in the Slums of Mauritius. Uk initial ruled these islands and gave it to US.
what about Burkina an atoll destroyed the natives lives US tested the nuclear bomb in the ocean Us is irresponsible has not even built a proper disposable site for its nuclear waste.
eventually the current t nuclear site will eventually leaked and whole of Pacific ocean will be contaminated What about Hawaii Us stole it from Hawaiian Queen in 1893
