Not too sure why the doctor says the 'uncooperative' paient had 'dumb luck', it is well known that intoxicated individuals can survive potentially deadly events, such as car crashes and high falls without any or only minor/superficial injuries. It has to do with the lack of certain responses usually present in awake and aware individuals, that are often the cause of, or exacerbate, injury. E.g putting your hands out when you fall and breaking your hand or arm.

I question the legitimacy of the police being able to access the blood records of the passenger - that seems to be a breach of privacy. They had legitimate means (drugs in pants) to apply for court order to release them. That the passenger of a car is intoxicated is not relevant to a crash. The release of drivers blood records I fully support. I think we have to be careful to support everyone’s privacy. I watched a case recently when police were demanding the blood records be released of the victim of a crash - a police chase had ended in the chased hitting a driver heading opposite direction. The head nurse refused and was arrested. But what relevance to a crash is the records of the victim ? - sadly he died and was a law officer from the next county. It was an overstepping of authority.

That medic is so fucking snoopy. He didn’t “come across” the drugs-he actively searched for them as a reason to prove he was at fault for his behavior. Since the start he praised the police as heroes... I wouldn’t want to cooperate with him either!
Medical professionals treating you must know if you took anything, because of certain interactions between some drugs/alcohol (legal or illegal, both are important) and medications they might need to give you to treat you (some interactions could harm you or even kill you). They also want to understand why you behave the way you do, since being agitated can be caused by drugs/alcohol, just being a bad person, or say a head injury, so just help yourself and be honest, it might save your life. As someone said above, doctors and nurses don't care about your drug stash, they want to help you, so help them help you. I also don't see how doctors love of police is bad in any way, police is there to help and protect similar to medical professionals.
@@Tylerrl1664 I don't really understand what you are trying to insinuate here, so i shall just repeat myself, yes police are there to help and protect, just like other emergency services. It's clear you don't like police, but i have no problem with them. I have plenty of love and respect for good people willing to put their lives and/or health in danger to protect others, and police has exactly those people. Sure there are a few bad policeman out there, but police does so much good and has so many good men that go unnoticed, simply because most media nowadays only show bad instances of policing, and because of that people get the wrong impression that all policeman are bad. Saying that police (as a whole) is bad is just a textbook example of a faulty generalization, individuals mistakes are individuals mistakes, and should not represent the whole organisation.
He wasn't being snoopy. If you don't take drugs off of patients when they enter hpspital, they can either sell them in the hpspital, or take them as an inpatient. Which happens all the time. Or they can be found by other patients. Basically don't leave dangerous materials with patients. Same as we lock up the controlled drugs that we administer, we lock up these unknown substances in the same cupboard. It can also give clues to whether this is intoxication or a brain bleed. However, handing them over to the police is a massive breech of privacy imo. Having drugs on your person is not an immediate risk to life, and therefore the police should be getting a warrant for the patients medical records if they want any of the medical information about him. This was a 'search' for medical reasons, not police.
