1 year ago, i had a motorcycle crash where i got t-boned by a bigger motorcycle and hit my left leg so hard, the people around came to move my body to the side of the road, and then some people asked me to call my parents, at that time, i wished i could called my dad rather than my mom, i know that my mom will got terribly shocked to hear that call, sorry mom :( . In the hospital, they told me that i got an open fractured on my fibula, my ankle got crushed too. It was a nightmare for me cause i was a tae-kwon-doin and had a dream to become a marathon athlete, before the crash, i always spent my spare time to practice, and now it's all in vain :( . After the surgery, the doctor told me that there's a chance that my leg won't be back to normal, and will get easily injured. That fact got me in a long depression (my gf left me too after this accident) :( . I just wish that i can accept this situation and get away from this long depression. *Nb: sorry for my english, I'm not a native, I just want to share my story to help me feel better

Am I crazy? I can't see that it's an open fracture on the x-ray. I see a closed diagonal slightly laterally displaced proximal tibial fracture and it's not comminuted.
@dequadin an open fracture or compound fracture can sometimes pop back in after the accident. As you can see it probably punctured the skin and went back in due to the muscles attached to the shin. I am a 2nd year emergency doctor resident. I have seen many accidents just like this so take my word
I'd imagine the ambos at the site would've relocated the leg after getting him out of the van. By straightening the limb and resting it at full length it would've pulled the exposed bit back in
i broke my lower left joint in the 3 places i got 2 screws 4 knee surgeries i can barley walk still sometimes i wish they would have cut it off because the nerve damage in my thigh an breaking my knee hurts so ungodly bad 90% of time so i feel you bro it hurts for sure
i didnt know that when the bone is exposed it means you could have the limb amputated... really makes me think back to the time i broke my arm and the bone was staying within my skin by just a tiny bit of extra bone hanging on
I would hate to have that doctor. "It appears that you have broken your thumb. You might become paralyzed." That was a relatively straight forward operation.
Before a operation a doctor need to tell you what are the risk and the worst case for legal reason I had a toe infection after a injury and the doctor said to me they had to cut it open if it not get better they have to amputate the toe I was lucky it healed But they have to tell you because later you can say I don’t wanted to amputate. If you are not conscious they do what they need to help you to survive Before a operation you need to sign a lot of legal paper and basically say if anything goes wrong or your die or they amputate you, they don’t have a legal problems
They have to tell you everything that could go awry. I had minor toe surgery and had to sign paperwork and the doctor explained that 95% of the time everything is fine, but 3% of patients experience infections and can go septic and 2% die. The same thing was told to me when I had my wisdom teeth out, that death was a possibility. Basically, there's a potential for ANYTHING to happen. Infection is most often the cause of all serious complications.
After amputating some of my left index finger I can tell you they dont stuff around when it comes to bone infections every 2 hours awake or asleep youll get an infusion
This got me thinking...I would think that with all the surgical mistakes you hear about being made these days, as a man, the worse mistake a doctor could make with me would be if he were to amputate the wrong head.
I know that the doctors know what they're saying but that one doctor who kept saying lose his leg, might result in amputation, people lose their legs just gave me some real bad vibes about stating the over complicated stuff. Its as if even if you get a small cut on your legs he's gonna be like "he's gonna lose his limb" like seriously 🥺
They don’t have to be exposed to the outside constantly, the bone punctured the skin and most likely was relocated back into position once out of the car to help blood from from being restricted to the foot etc, I don’t think the drs are just making it up 😂
The bone broke through the skin and, either retracted on its own when he moved or something or, when the medics came to the scene, realigned the bone back under the skin before carting him off to the hospital. Anytime the skin is broken there's a risk of infection.
nah as soon as its exposed its covered in bacteria, as they are everywhere and internet bones and organs are not supposed to be exposed to outside organisms.

Because it is his job. If he was a symphony pianist and he'd needed to have his leg amputated, which thank goodness he didn't, it wouldn't have affected his career choice. As a surfing instructor, it would have been a longer recovery time before he could have returned to work, if at all.
Anybody know why you need too keep a hospital cold even in winter?
Cab over vans are so dangerous. If you know you’re 100% about to hit something, all you could really do is lift your knees up as far as possible and hope that your feet stay out of the bear trap that the front ends about to create.
i wouldnt be surprised if this happened outside my house the amount of car crashes that happen up here are crazy we get those helicopters landing across the road every few months
Ok ummm I don't know how to say this.... But this video literally made me dizzy, I almost faint in my kitchen and fortunately I could sit when I was about to faint. I don't know why it made me feel so weak in just a few seconds, because I am used to these kind of videos but well who knows.. After that, I saw myself on the mirror of the bathroom to see if I looked normal and I was pale as a ghost.. Jeez I have never seen my face like that. BTW glad the man is ok because now its me the one who needs a hospital unless someone can explain me what the hell happened to me 😂 my head still hurts and I am all the time hearing like a constant sound
