      Use good flux and solder. Once the old chip is off... remove the led free stuff and "Tin" the board with good solder. Then, as you hat and it flows... good flux will keep it flowing... and the new chip will more or less center itself.

      It could be the port... but it could be the encoder chip or the cable. I would change the cable, and see what happens. If you are getting red lines/static.... it's probably the chip.

    Do you offer mail in service? I have a PS4 that I tried to install an ESP32 chip internally. Now I can only get it to work after unplugging and draining power by holding the power button. It works fine on the first boot, but as soon as I shut down or reboot, the screen will flicker on and off and I can only hear some sounds every few seconds. The console is working, since I can move through the menu and shut the console off through the options by pressing the right button combo. When I unplug and drain the power it will work again on the first boot.

    I wish I could use hot air on my board straight on my mat. Always bubbles up from the heat so have to use a board holder. What temp do you use for reinstallation with the leaded solder? I mix in leaded and use around 450 but may drop it down a bit more myself.

    Hello friend, great video. I have a ps4 pro which I have tested the cable and it is fine, I have tested the connector by putting a connector at one end of the cable and checking continuity and values, I have measured the filters (coils) with voltage drop and they are fine, I have also checked the readings on the chip and I think it is also fine, however after all this my ps4 remains in white light and without being able to enter safe mode or anything and no signal. What I can do? Is there a scheme to test more components or what should I test now?
    The board is the nav001 , could you tell me what other values I can measure or compare the readings of the chip?

    What was the initial issue? Power up then powered down after a few seconds?

    • @PghGameFix
      @PghGameFix  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sort of. It would start to boot, and then shut down. But it was more than a few seconds. But the reason I didn't originally think this was the issue was... this console had melted spots on the shell from running so hot. It was also packed with dust, dirt and dog hair. I figured there was other board damage. I have found that if it shuts down after just a few seconds is it's either overheating... and may just need a cleaning with new thermal paste... or the hard drive has gone bad. On the overheating side... I have had a bunch of PS4's show up where the owners have opened them to clean them, and disturbed the original thermal paste. But since that paste was old, and hard... it no longer made a good thermal connection to the heatsink.

I know its not a easy thing but I wanted to try and fix it myself but the more I try to do things in my own the more I think i fail and I know if i fail at this my mother will use it against me also... so yeah idk what to do anymore honestly im so lost 😔

    • @PghGameFix

      If you know the chip is bad... just keep the heat focused on the chip. (But the board will take a lot of heat) I normally have my hot air station at 480c, and it takes a minute or so to get it to move with the factory solder. Also, make sure to use good flux to help everything to move.

    Hi sorry to bother you you but I have the same model ps4 that you worked on the CUH-1215A and it has the white light of death. I took it to my local video game store to have it looked at and get the hdmi port replaced and to run further diagnostics on it and they said that the hdmi port wasn’t the issue but it was more the issue of the hdmi chip. They couldn’t replace it because it wasn’t worth the time nor money. If you could get back to me with your take on things that would be great thank you.

    • @PghGameFix
      @PghGameFix  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well... that's a tough one. I've had a few that I refused to replace the chip because the PS4 was VERY obviously overheated, and the APU was probably bad. So, in my opinion, on those, it was a waste of time and money to change the HDMI chip. But, if everything looks good, and clean... then I normally will try to change that chip. At the stage where I question it... I will leave it up to the owner if they want me to try it, and I will generally tell them it's going to be $65 regardless if it works after. With that said, your local shop either felt it wasn't going to help... or they just aren't comfortable changing that chip.
